Again, are the Bills a better team with Byrd on the field ?? The money part Bryd is dreaming about isn't anything any other team would pay right now, he's not the best FS in the league. Expecting to be paid like a #1 means you're a #1, which Byrd isn't. Talk about a reach.

Was the total he was looking for a year really that much ? If so, I'll take whatever drugs his agent is taking.

He has to come to the conclusion that his demands out of whack right now but it he shows up this season & has his rookie type INT's numbers with great tackling, then he has a shot at #1 money.

The Pats have had some terrible secondaries off & on the past several years, they were able to score at will several years ago but got scored on the same. There's a balance here and the Bills can't afford to let our great players leave, unless they will only play based on being the top paid player at their position. You run out of cap bank real fast paying everyone all the money, all the time. Imagine a scenario were the Bills cave & overpay, then everyone hires Parker. Try to field a team then, it's just not reasonable.

I haven't bothered to follow this like because Byrd played on one of the worst defenses in the league & wants the most money, crazy talk indeed.

You write the check then because the Bills won't. Our team's defense sucked & he performed better than horrible before him, so lets just pay him the most, talk about logic. We changed defenses now, he's not the most important piece of a piece a crap defense. How's that for logic or reality? Can other people getting this picture ?

Does this demo happen before the system is in place? Can you demo a car without somewhere to drive it ?? If you look at the last 3 seasons, he's not worth #1 money at his position & that's why he isn't holding a new long-term contract.

You'd think with the huge letdown last season, players who've been held over for this season would realize this isn't the year to be asking for all the money without seeing how they can play in this system. Kinda like that Eddie Murphy joke about throwing the starving guy a cracker, best darn cracker he ever had. It's all about positioning who we have in our new system, Byrd's asking for all the money at the wrong time for his position.

His refusal to pay comes at a huge loss of pay, so it's a tough pill to swallow. Who pays a guy that say out a few years in a row as well, that'd be fiscal / career suicide.

Da' Rick is big game, he just needs to keep his head on straight & we'll be pretty dope.

Somebody pointed it out to me that if we tag Byrd 2 years in a row, his average salary is about ~$7.5 Million. Which is a much smaller risk than giving him $8 Million with many years guaranteed, plus the Bills have leverage. This pretty much completely puts Byrd in a box & the Bills would be wise to not overpay.

If we're paying him that type of money, he better be on the field.

This brings up a much better point about FA / RFA, there needs to be a better plan. If there's a structure of compensation in place, why does the player get the option to hold out ?? Does a draftee get the option of not being drafted in a certain spot ?? There needs to be a simple mechanism of high pay (which for Byrd this is) & the ability for the team to be able to do this if you won't come along reasonably. If you can offer a guy a huge amount of money & they can get greedy, why can't you offer to tag the guy if they can't be reasonable ??

Byrd has an agent, they talk to him not Byrd until Byrd signs.

Maybe he needed a write off ?? J/K. Classy move by Andy, great player & man.

Byrd will be in shape from day 1, the bigger problem is knowing the playbook well enough.

I had money on the Bills & the only way I could lose was if the Titans scored a TD, so I'd like that back.

How he fits is going to determine his value, that's why he's not going to earn anymore than the current tender this year.
