  1. I think the problem isn't with the people, it's with the government's apparent haphazard operation of their program. If people don't like paying to rebuild flood-prone areas, then they should petition their senators to do away with Federal Flood Insurance.
  2. Mularkey went on record some weeks back that the team will follow NFL guidelines for reporting injuries but that he won't disclose anything beyond the minimum to prevent the possibility of opponents gaining some sort of advantage.
  3. Unfortunately for her it's adminstered by FEMA, and as many here are finding out from Isabel, it only covers damage up to the high water mark, not the mold and other stuff that accompanies the water. Also, their adjusters have been lowballing people making it impossible to find contractors willing to do the work for the price. Some insurance, that.
  4. Or... It was the first time these refs encountered the situation and made the best call they could given the lack of direction in the rulebook. The school should have secured a waiver from the state body. Shoot, we had to when I was playing as a kid because of a cast on my right wrist. The knee-jerk reaction is to blame the refs, but personally, I think it's the school's responsibility.
  5. What Would Artest Do? ThePaperCup can fill you in on the details.
  6. True, but as it's the Pro Football Hall of Fame and not the NFL Hall of Fame, that shouldn't make a difference. That said, I just don't see, nor do I particularly want, Ralph ignoring the NFL on this. Leave that stuff to the trash like Jerry Jones and Al Davis. IMO, the Bills should petition the league for a uniform change and do it through channels - if that's indeed what they want to do.
  7. The alternative was a tip-toeing Willis. Tom Clements picked his poison, probably based upon JP's solid performance the week before, but it obviously didn't work out. And as I mentioned before, unless a poster poo-pooed the playcalling after the Texans game, I don't want to hear it. Willis got most of his touches in the 2nd half of that game making the ratio closer but in both games Willis' runs accounted for roughly 1/3 of the offensive plays from scrimmage.
  8. Beats me With the fire With the burst The QB needs to stop locking in on one WR before I'd worry too much about that. He did seem to whiff a couple of times, but that's not something I'm too worried about. We'll probably see them when he hits the open field, not as he's runing to/through a hole. I don't think so. What do you think?

  10. No. Especially not when they're on the field for 20-25 minutes of the first half. It's the offense's job to eat clock. Bflo's defense stopped TB every series save for the very last one of the half. Bflo's offense couldn't even manage a first down. So the defense stops the other guys, but the offense can't get a first down, and you want to pin that on the defense?
  11. If, and I know it's a major if, Holcomb and Shaud Willialms would have provided the spark that MM said he was trying to get by making the change, and if they had gone down and scored a TD to bring Bflo back into the game, would you still say the same thing? I doubt it.
  12. They stopped TB and forced them to punt on their first four possessions. They gave up a TD before the half, after the Bills offense had managed to go 3 and out 4 times and gave them the safety on the 5th. After the half, the rested D forced another punt before they just collapsed after another 3 and out by the Bflo offense. The D did their job, especially when they were something close to fresh. The O didn't help them in field position or time of posession. The O let them down.
  13. Maybe because they're both injured? Or is it your assertion that only untalented players get hurt?
  14. I don't recall too many poo-pooing the game plan after the Texans game. According to the NFL Gamebook, Willis' runs accounted for about 1/3 of Bflo's total offensive plays in that game, just like the Tampa Bay game. It's awfully hard to have Willis get the 25 carries per game that we'd all love him to have when the offense goes 3 and out on 7 of their first 10 possesions, no?
  15. Willis had runs of 1 yard, 3 yards, and 5 yards on the first play of their first 3 possesions.
  16. Yup - Bryson, Linton, & Sammy Morris were our RBs in 2000 if memory serves.
  17. It looked to me (through beer goggles) that they were doing it to go with max-protect, on the passing plays anyway. Maybe someone who has a tape of the game can let us know if that was the case.
  18. Just a couple of thoughts regarding your thoughts... I think what happened in the Texans game was that Houston kept putting 8 and 9 men in the box, daring JP to beat them. WHen JP started to make some plays, they (the Texans) backed off a bit and played a little more honestly, and Willis was able to find some seems and get some yardage, especially in the 2nd half. Time of Possesion helped in that too. Humble pie indeed. I think that the offense's inability to move the ball (three and out on seven of their first ten possesions) helped in wearing down the defense. The Bucs were able to get some first downs, but remember, they weren't exactly marching up and down the field on us in the first 20 minutes. As much as Time of Possesion helped us in the previous game, it was a killer in yesterday's game. Right on, beerball, right on. The Falcons game (with a dinged up Vick) will be huge. If we can take that and go on the road and beat the Saints, we'll be at 3-1 through the first quarter of the season and atop the division. IMHO, it's time to put up or shut up for the Bills, especially for the Bills defense.
  19. In the position to make the play is the operative phrase. The coaches can't do it all. At some point, the players have to make the play. If they don't, it's their fault, not the coaches'. We can argue pregame preperation all day long because nobody on this board knows how well/hard the Bills prepared for this game, but it's more than a small stretch to try to find fault with the coaches' gameday effort yesterday.
  20. How 'bout Vikes fans? Someone should call the Vikings and let them know the season's underway.
