  1. I'm no fan of oil companies, and while agree that they're collectively putting the screws to us, it's up to us, the consumers of their product, to lessen demand. Econ 101: demand dips, prices drop. Big oil isn't without fault, but let's be honest. It's as much us as it is them.
  2. Rita's first fatality- A bus carrying seniors out of Houston on I-45 explodes and injuries several people. Authorities seem to think one of the senior's oxygen tanks exploded. Traffic at a standstill as they work to clear the road... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9449949/
  3. Hey ya' perv, this is a family-friendly board! Oh, you meant insert him into the lineup... Sorry
  4. It looks like Port Arthur and Beaumont will receive the brunt of it. Either way, it's going to be ugly- a weather buoy off the Louisiana coast has already registered gusts above hurricane strength (>75 mph). They also mentioned that your neck of the woods might get a lot of rain - it may stall out over eastern TX.
  5. Meade is OK, but I used to like Rudi Bakthiar, HLN's former overnight anchor. Now they run repeats of that worthless Nancy Grace show and some stupid enterntainment/celebrity gossip BS instead. I want my Rudi back!
  6. WAVY-TV's Tracey Rosa who's more than a little cute. And there's something about WVEC-TV's Vanessa Coria that I like, but I can't put my finger on it.
  7. He's in Durham, so they might black out 'Canes games for him on occasion. The only gripe I've ever had is when they don't carry the Sabres' coverage and I have to listen to terrible announcers drone on about everything other than the game. Pens and Wings are among the worst offenders IMO.
  8. Be safe and have fun - in that order.
  9. The reason I don't have a problem with it is that he already discussed it with Willis in private and is only saying what you, him, Willis, and I already know. And it sounds like it worked, judging from the comments made about how hard Willis was hitting the holes in practice.
  10. It depends on your cable/satellite provider as well as the network carrying the game, but generally not, or at least not the last time there was an NHL season.
  11. Mom always said "if you don't have anything nice to say..." To that end, I'll admit that I admire their enthusiasm.
  12. I get tired of seeing the Leafs every saturday though.
  13. When you have Center Ice, not only do you not have to worry about that, you get to watch the west coast games after the east coast games. As much as my wife is hating this, I'm loving the return of 2 games/day! Thank God for hockey!
  14. Oil companies might be price gouging? Say it ain't so! [/sarcasm]
  15. Like this? And yes, considering the source it should be taken with more than a grain of salt.
  16. FYI- Max sustained winds at 150, Rita downgraded to Cat 4.
  17. Also, people are running out of gas as they head out of town, but Houston and Texas officials had prepared for that and tanker trucks are refueling those people so that they can escape the storm. On the scary side, people are starting to drive north on southbend expressways within the Houston city limits - TXDOT hasn't opened those up for northbound so it's only a matter of time before a head-on crash kills somebody.
  18. Interstates out are a parking lot, TXDOT is opening I-45 to go outbound in both lanes. The weather today is decent according to Teresa's mom and dad, but it sounds like the whole town, no, the whole coast, is moving inland. Rita is expected to drop from a Cat 5 to a Cat 4, but she's inching ever closer to tracking toward western Louisiana, which is good news for Houstonians.
  19. 1436. I'm trying to submit it but the score submission window doesn't seem to be working. Have you guys been able to submit your score?
  20. I've had Center Ice since the get-go. I'd pay double for as much as I watch it - every night is hockey night!
  21. I didn't lose the signal during Isabel's landfall. Make sure you're signal meter is high, like into the high 80s. I switched the transponder (I went from the default of 1 to number 25) and had a 94 signal the day before it hit (it was a clear day). It did drop a bit to the mid 70s during the height of the storm and had a couple of brief glitches - not low enough to screw up the signal for more than a couple of seconds. Contast that with whatever name storm came through here last year, we lost cable as soon as the wind picked up.
