  1. Earl Campbell to run over and Walter Payton to fly over. I thought of the Nigerian Nightmare too, and for a year or two he was an absolute beast. But it was only for a year or two...
  2. No you didn't, but it's an honest mistake - all of the futility runs together after a while... They played 14 games per season back then. In '67 they won four, in '68 they won one and tied one, which was bad enough for them to earn the first overall pick in the '69 draft (OJ). The consecutive 2-14 seasons were '84 and '85.
  3. Good point. After all, there is NO way that professional football GMs and scouts would have figured out what you did - that Bufffalo needs a QB...
  4. I know I'm looking at Chan, but I see Gene Hackman.
  5. What I wrote doesn't really matter as long as my bosses tell me my page view numbers are good. Thanks for driving more traffic to my article, I appreciate it. Sincerely, Bucky Gleason
  6. I don't have a problem with trying to take the Pats* most dangerous player out of the game by playing nickel and dime packages and forcing them to run. I do have a problem with them not making adjustments after the Bills were getting gashed by the run.
  7. Didn't expect that move. Not now anyway...
  8. As much as I'd like to have future HOF'ers at every position, it's not very realistic. And eball points out that it's not very necessary, either. Good post.
  9. Sorry to read about your father's passing, and thank you for sharing some of his work.
  10. Sorry that happened to you. I've had the opportunity to speak with Bruce numerous times and each of my experiences couldn't have been more different than yours. He was patient and friendly when he attended bowl-a-thons one of my former employers participated in here in Va Beach that raised money for one of Bruce's pet projects, Junior Achievement. He was all smiles when our local Bills Backers club helped with his golf tournament, and he freely gave people his attention while watching his son play high school football - except when his son was on the field, then he kind of trailed off and concentrated on the game, which one would think would be undertsandable for any father watching his son play. Bruce also volunteered his time after school to work with his son's team. I now live in a neighborhood adjacent to Bruce's and have seen him around from time to time. The fact that his son made it known to Bruce that I was one of his favorite teachers probably doesn't hurt, but Bruce is has never been anything but a class act in all of my experiences with him....
  11. Average yards per attempt against the run. If your opponent can't run, they are forced to become one-dimmensional and, more often than not, you got 'em when that happens.
  12. Born in Buffalo, started out in Amherst (Snyder), grew up in Le Roy, have been in Virginia Beach for 20 years.
  13. Good point. I'm sure there are lots of people who take their own life due to bouts of euphoria. /sarcasm
  14. Why, he said what Kelly said he said!
  15. The cynic in me can't help but wonder if there was a little pandering going on there.
  16. It was Friday amd Cowherd raved about the Bills' offeseason moves, about Buddy's picks in San Diego (something like 6 Pro Browlers come out of 2 drafts), and at 12:15 he had Buddy on for a little under 10 minutes...
  17. Thigpen isn't going to make anyone forget about Jim Kelly anytime soon, but remember that he only had a couple weeks with the playbook and his new team before the exhibition games started - not the ideal situation for a QB (look back to Carson Palmer's performance after being dealt to Oakland last year). Maybe he came along well enough throughout the season to serve as an adequate backup this year? Don't get me wrong, it's not like I'm some huge Thigpen fan, but it doesn't seem fair to be too critical of his performance in preseason last year...
  18. I have less of a problem with them losing as long as they look like they're putting in the effort and not just mailing it in. But I'd rather they play like champions than think like champions!
  19. A lot of you guys bring up a lot of very good points. I'm surpirsed that, while some people mentioned diferent aspects of the Defense, that I'm the only person concerned with the Run D. If this team is to go anywhere, they can't keep getting shredded on the ground...
  20. Last season the D gave up 4.8 yards per rush. Pass-rushing DEs probably aren't the solution, but hopefully a healthy Kyle Williams will help.
