Bills defence was a mess this year. 29th on 3rd downs, 16th in red zone, and gave up the 4th most first downs. The turnovers saved them from being a complete disaster as they just couldn't force stops. It's very similar- Both were rookie coordinators. Both had some good, but mostly bad moments in their rookie year. Both were/are entering year 2 with a lot to prove . If the bills defence continues to struggle and he gets some sort of demotion mid way through 2025, remember this conversation. For now, we will just have to agree to disagree and we'll have to see how it plays out

Why is it different? What has Babich proved in this league that says he should be given a long leash? NFL stands for "not for long". I strongly feel that If in the first half of the season the bills defence continues to be bottom 5 on 3rd down percentage and giving up 1st downs, he will be out of a job like Ken Dorsey- Or at the very least will be stripped from his play calling.

Dorsey got fired in his 2nd year. I personally think Babich is on the hot seat

Giants had 3 wins this year. They are soooo far away. By the time they even have a chance of being good, he will be like 30 I could listen that they should have traded him and got value. But I don't think re signing him makes sense, given where they are as a franchise

Giants were what, 6-11 with Barkley? An elite RB doesn't move the needle without a QB or a line

Ya it would have made no sense for a team with no QB and a horrible o line to pay a RB 15 mil per season

The issue for me personally isn't necessarily the quantity- It's "when" they rotate. Ravens game for example- When they scored that final TD, bills had Solomon, Jefferson and Epenasa out there. And this was 2 plays after coming out of a 2 minute warning, so it's not like the starters were gassed or anything . To me that's pretty indefensible- Crunch time coming out of a two minute warning and you have your backup D line in

I get your overall point- Like the bills CB2 in Douglas struggled this year. I would definitely invest in the position and spend a day two draft pick there. But having almost 40 mil tied up to two corners, not too mention Taron Johnson having one of the higher nickel salaries, is just too much IMO.

13-15 seems low for Reed IMHO. I would be shocked if it isn't at least 17 mil. I think the combination of him and Benford would be around 40 mil Mcdermott historically pays one corner, and then the 2nd one is a JAG or a draft pick. (EJ Gaines, Levi Wallace, Dane Jackson, Benford on a rookie deal etc)

The problem is the contract situation. Benford has one more year left You can't pay two corners 20 plus mil

He made some big plays for sure. But I thought he did struggle in coverage this year. Joe Marino loves Taron- But even a few podcasts ago, he even said he thought Taron didn't have his best season
