I was asking you a legit question. That’s what makes playing tackle so damn hard. You can’t play “good” and have 2-4 bad mistakes a game. Which is exactly my point Thats how you lose games and that’s how you get your QB killed. (See last year how Josh injured his elbow against the jets)

Lol ok so let’s average it out. 1 hold/sack a quarter. Let’s say he lets up a combination of 3 sacks/holds for a game. Is that considered a good game for you?

As a tackle you can’t have one bad mistake a quarter. That’s my point. It’s not confirmation bias

I really don’t understand. Brown has been underwhelming the first 2 years and got beat bad by a backup defensive end on 1 rep in the 1st quarter. Do you disagree with any of that?

I agree Dawkins looked worse. My point what I’m trying to say though is if you’re a tackle and let 1-2 bad plays in a game, those are game changing negative plays. And getting crushed by a backup DE in just one quarter does nothing to elevate my confidence in Spencer brown

I know. But when has Spencer brown ever shown consistency in his career? Yes one bad play in a quarter against a backup. He doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt. I am not automatically going to write him off, but he’s a major concern at a premium position as of now

On Spencer brown- on his holding penalty, he got absolutely abused by a backup DE. 1-2 negative plays is all it takes for a tackle to have a bad game, and Brown seemed to have 1-2 bad plays in the first quarter alone.

It would be ideal and it’s a good thought, but put yourself in another GMs shoes . Would you trade a young tackle with upside for basham and shorter? No way I would

Did you watch the game out of curiosity? And I ask that not to be a jerk. Cause the concerns are 1 on 1 battles in the trenches. They can’t block and they didn’t generate a pass rush with 4 guys. Those are red flags IMO

This situation at right tackle keeps getting worse and worse lol. Brown sucks Injuries Quessenburry is horrible

People can down play this all they want cause it’s pre season but this is concerning to me. 1. o line still can’t block 2. d line can’t get pressure with their front 4 3. undisciplined penalties. Sound familiar?

Yep. At least draft one in the early rounds or sign a mediocre/average right tackle to compete with Brown Right tackle will F them all year long

Ya. And One thing that we also forget? If we do lose shorter, who really cares? Draft another guy late next year. Ideally you want to keep your draft picks, but the chances of a 5th-7th round raw player helping a Super Bowl contender this year and next is extremely slim.

I think we are going to see Josh and the starters for at least a quarter. could be wrong but i believe in the past few years, MCD has played them for a few series during the 2nd pre season game

Like I said though- The most important part for the backup QB is to help the starter prepare through the week and on game day. They are basically like coaches. If it helps him prepare better and Josh is comfortable with those guys helping him, why mess with that?

The awkward part is Josh is super tight with Kyle Allen and Barkley, and a big role for the backup QB is to help the starter on game day and with preparation. (As I'm sure you know) I am not saying you’re wrong as I do think QB2 is a liability if Josh ever goes down. But I think Josh will have a big say for who he wants as the guy to help him get ready for game days, and Kyle and Barkley are his guys.
