  1. Todd Bowles or Hue Jackson, maybe?
  2. Chip Kelly + Jim Schwartz + current roster = 14-2
  3. Spiller could very well bounce back next year with the right OC. Spiller/Brown could be a tandem a la McCoy/Sproles, but Spiller and Brown have both had issues with fumbles. I like Dixon as a power back for some situations (and especially his special teams work). We don't need a running back in the draft, if we re-sign Spiller. And even if we don't, I don't want to see us draft one until the later rounds. I believe in Brown and we have seen productive backs coming out of the later rounds these days.
  4. Congrats to 94 and 99!
  5. Schwartz's 5 year record, while bad, was still better than the 5 preceding it. I don't have full faith in him, but I have some.
  6. Whaley drafted 3 OL players in the draft. One of them is the first 7th round pick to start all 16 games in years, and is poised to be our RT for years despite some struggles. Urbik was a perfectly serviceable RG in years past. His regression is not Whaley's fault, at all.
  7. If he goes to the Jets, this D will CRUSH him.
  8. I think Pepper and Donnie would rather stay with Schwartz, if we choose to keep him in whatever capacity.
  9. And if he stays, they both stay too. Pepper gets his DC title (and can eventually pull a Pettine, I imagine).
  10. Right now if it's Schwartz vs Reich, I go with Schwartz. Didn't see enough out of the Chargers offense down the stretch.
  11. Oh I bet this defense would LOVE to crush him and Hackett next year. LOL what if we signed Rex too?
  12. Zing! Seriously though. Asking for an extension halfway through a 4 year contract and no playoff berths? If he is leaving over that. My goodness.
  13. Did you watch the 49ers offense this year? The 49ers offense only looks better than ours because they have a better offensive talent. Roman's schemes and playcalling this year were terrible.
  14. "NFL.com Bills beat writer Chris Trapasso recently told me that Johnson has done a "great job" with the Buffalo defensive line." Did this guy need to be told this by somebody? I think it's pretty obvious. I hope we get one more year out of him, at least.
  15. The Dougs have expressed interest in keeping Spiller around. Hackett was extremely excited to have him (never did get him to puke though). That being said, I don't think he stays. OL is a major issue, but he clearly suffers from a lack of field vision. Jackson was considerably slower this year, but saw the field so clearly and was shifty as ever. Spiller wasn't on the field enough to benefit from all those checkdown throws Freddy got. I wonder if he would have done better in those situations.
  16. ^I assume you're talking about AW and not Duke. Yeah, he is a good player, but I found that any time we were gashed in the run game it seemed AW had overpursued and missed the tackle. That is really the only issue I found with him this year. I like that he wants to be aggressive and physical, but he has some work to do if he wants to be a Weddle.
  17. I like him, too. He fills two positional needs, FB and TE. He is kind of what Dorin Dickerson was supposed to be (who I didn't think was all that bad either, but we never got to see much of him, and I think they tried converting him to a WR under Marrone). Might make Gragg expendable too.
  18. I'm not sold on Jay Gruden as a coach. He did an adequate job as Bengals OC, but did anyone ever think they were a formidable offense? It's hard to evaluate some of these QBs as a result.
  19. Defense, too. The Jets were an elite defense both years.
  20. I'd give up what the Texans did for Mallett, maybe. He sure looked bad after that first couple of games.
  21. Don't think Sanchez cost the Eagles playoffs on his own. He had no business losing to the Redskins, but they also beat the Cowboys once too. He didn't give up 53 points to the Packers.
  22. I can't decide if Trestman or Cutler was more at fault for the Bears O this year. Trestman sure did a fine job the year prior with McCown. Switching back to Cutler cost them the playoffs, if my memory serves me correctly.
  23. I agree that he would be a cheapish option, and I do think with a top defense he can get the team to the playoffs. Our defense did a good job of not making turnovers cost us too many points. But, I don't think he can make us a championship team. If the goal is just playoffs and not a real SB contender, sure, he's a fair choice. I still want to believe that there is a better option out there.
  24. Do you get comeback player of the year after being suspended due to child abuse? Money needs to be allocated for Hughes. Searcy and Wynn should be brought back for fairly cheap. Don't think AP would be worth it. Definitely gotta grab at least one more good guard - and one that has a track record of consistently good play.
