  1. He is, or can be this year. That awful PI against New England was not typical of his play. He is physical, fast and a good tackler. He fell in the draft due to some issues with his size and some off-field issues.
  2. I recall McCown being pretty mobile in the pocket and could scramble pretty well too. Not a Wilson/Kap type, but not a statue.
  3. Bah! I knew I was forgetting someone!
  4. In my opinion, he was the best of our 2nd string DL. Also, he's the only player on our team with a ring.
  5. Wynn was a fantastic rotational DE. Glad to keep him. Dean seemed to be ST only, and not the type of ST player that gets signed just for teams. But, I guess if he's super cheap?
  6. We'd like to use him like John Brown in AZ. We had him on some nice bombs in his rookie year, but between injuries and poor QB play we didn't see to get things going with him and the deep ball. I hope he gets some looks this year and stays healthy.
  7. Absolutely. But that doesn't take away from the fact that he was solid inn the second half of the season.
  8. Searcy is a very useful tool, but he is not a full time starter. Duke is a good player with some upside. He has some ball skills too. Meeks isn't healthy ever, so I don't know what their plan is for backups, though. I'd like to keep Search if he doesn't leave for starter money. Spikes wants to be more than a rotational player. If he gets that deal elsewhere, I'm not worried about it.
  9. Did LaMichael James get that many carries? I thought Kendall Hunter was their man backup before he got hurt. I know that's not the point of this thread.
  10. We will not cut McKelvin. We have seen time and time again that CB depth is of paramount importance. He has turned a corner thanks to Donnie and is still relatively inexpensive. We have 3 starting caliber boundary corners and a very capable nickel in Nickell. I don't buy this talk of pursuing Revis. Urbik was a good RG and seemed to regress under Marrone. Or he is just not as good on the left side?
  11. Yeah, I just got a chance to look at the ones they've released. Campbell is a player they've always held in high esteem (and rightfully so) in the same way as KW, with that sort of under-the-radar dominance. Kind of surprised Julio didn't get a blue. Looks like they are trying to keep the blue chips to the top 50 regardless of position.
  12. Being names the Bills is kind of silly. But I like our logo OK.
  13. Quinn, Wake and Campbell are my guesses.
  14. Mario should be elite over Kyle, or all three should be elite. But, I remember last year's chart and it looks like Gilmore, McKelvin and Bradham have all been upgraded from average, while Glenn has been downgraded to good. The roster looks better this year, plus we have free agents to sign.
  15. Our D-Line was fierce last year in the 4-3. I don't think Rex will abandon it altogether. We will see a lot of Kilo, Brown and Bradham. Spikes in a rotational role.
  16. More or less saying the dumpster fire that was the Jets' 2014 season wasn't Rex's fault.
  17. I liked Charles in particular. Bryant didn't play quite as well. Either way, neither of those guys was even close to the level or Dareus. We would never lose Dareus expecting Charles or Bryant to fill in.
  18. Offensive line had some injuries, Boone held out in camp and it reflected in his play the first few weeks. The main problem on the line was their rookie center Marcus Martin struggling in his first year. The group still had a fine year, but not quite on the level of the years prior. Their offensive line is known for being dominant in the run game, but weak in pass protection. That trend continued this year, but there were great issues with the passing game on the whole. Their passing game just didn't click at all this year. They were still dominant on the ground. After NFL defenses learned to respect Kap's legs and his arm strength, Roman had to get more creative with the playbook, but I think ultimately Kap couldn't keep up. So they simplified the offense. This led to them continuing to do what they do on the ground, where their sheer talent on the line and Gore's toughness and field vision can always get the job done, but having all kinds of trouble through the air. It seemed like they wanted Kap to stay in the pocket and go through his progressions (which obviously a QB should do) instead of taking off and running, but he hasn't shown the ability to do it. I've read articles where players talked about how big and complex the playbook was. Teams couldn't properly gameplan for the Niners because of how many things they were throwing at their opponents. They thrived with Alex Smith, because I think Alex Smith has the better nonphysical skills that a QB needs. We certainly remember playing him in 2012 right? The simplified offense was for Kap, but Kap has been struggling to read defenses and see the field, which simplifying the playbook can't quite help.
  19. Yeah, you can't compare these numbers from year-to-year. Remember how Chicago was supposed to be a good team and us beating them was a big deal?
  20. I have thought about this, but I still think it'll be much less than the Iupati camp is looking for. We'll see how it plays out. Since we are going for ground and pound, Iupati could be our guy, provided we're confident we have the space to lock up other important players (Hughes, Dareus). I can't see them signing Iupati at the expense of those guys.
  21. The way I saw it is Gilmore had a chance to make a play before Nelcon intervened. Gilmore had his hands out but it went through to his chest, where he tried to secure the ball. That's where Nelson got his hand in.
  22. We are committed to improving the line, but with value in mind. I agree that Boling is our most likely target for performance and value. Iupati is dominant in only one dimension and keeps getting hurt.
  23. To me, it looked like he got his hands out to catch it but it went through and hit his chest, with Nelson getting his hand in to make sure Gilmore couldn't secure it. His hands were positioned like he was trying to make that catch and his timing was just off. But I'm watching the replay again and I guess it's hard to say. He could also have tried to accept it into his chest/shoulder.
  24. I guess you're right, as this does say "roster quality" which is not a top-to-bottom talent measure. A quality roster starts and ends with a great QB. But they did win the worst division in the AFC and then got to play the Bengals, who always fold in the playoffs and the Broncos who were playing soft with an injured Peyton. They got clobbered in the AFCCG.
