  1. that was definitely a hold though.
  2. Yeah replay shows he clearly hit Russ in the shoulder. I get that it’s a fast play but that is a big penalty.
  3. Wow Aikman calling McVay out on analytics.
  4. what a brutal set of calls there. I really appreciated the commentary before the game. Think it was Greg Olsen who was saying Pete insists on being a run-first, defensive team and then when it doesn’t work they need Russell to pull a rabbit out of his ass.
  5. Probably a fractured relationship there.
  6. Lol we are like 3 years removed from starting Vlad Ducasse, Ryan Groy and John Miller. Isn’t that crazy?
  7. The problem is 3G capital. They ruined Burger King and then in turn ruined Tim Hortons. I only say that because I can’t believe how bad BK has gotten too. But as for football. This is about as complete a game as you want from a super bowl contender vs. the exact opposite. Let’s get ready for a big week 5!
  8. Practice squad call up making plays!
  9. Texans running the same play over
  10. Also of note: Joe B put out his all 22 review on The Athletic and noted that Tremaine was excellent in pass coverage. Brought up how Poyer’s pick was thanks to Edmunds taking away Heinecke’s intended target and forced him to panic and throw that duck in another direction. He says a lot of what Tremaine does for the defense doesn’t show up on the stat sheet and that’s also what some of us have been arguing here. He’s big and can cover a lot of ground in a hurry which makes him a very good piece in a defense that’s designed to stop the pass in a league that continues to be more pass happy.
  11. That overturned pick by Tre changed the complexion of the game. It was a super soft call and it led directly to that great catch by Claypool which gave them the momentum.
  12. See the thing is they are trusting him to make pre-snap reads and call shifts and the unit as a whole seems to be working. I agree that he isn’t the most physical run defender and doesn’t make many impact plays but how can we be sure he isn’t doing his job? The defense is playing really well and has played better when he is out there and healthy (note how the defense got better in the second half of last season). His speed and size absolutely make him one to avoid in the pass game and the pass game is increasingly more important in this league.
  13. What is it with you guys? The WFT scored one TD on a 73rd screen play, another because of a special teams blunder, and another in garbage time. We didn’t get sacks, but we got two picks and a forced fumble/recovery. This defense is doing everything it needs to do.
  14. Amazing throw and even more amazing catch. That’s the Josh we’ve been waiting for!
  15. Yep. Good deep roster. Marquez is on IR, yes.
  16. It’s phrasing. It implies that one player played so poorly that he couldn’t beat out some scrub. Why is it that and not one player had such a good camp that he won his job? And Harry was a late third round pick. So while that’s not hyperbole it is again phrasing that tries to make it sound like he was drafted with lofty expectations or something when in he was nearly a day 3 pick.
  17. Don’t say “can’t beat out Zimmer” like he hasn’t been balling. Zimmer won his job and is playing well. Defense pitched a shutout last week and we are asking why the same three guys aren’t dressing this week.
  18. Thank you for mentioned your #2 conclusion. Tremaine calls those shifts as the captain and centerpiece of the defense. He is a smart player and on his own you don’t really see him out of position, rather outmuscled as you note in #3. As I said in the other Tremaine thread, he may not be a top 5 MLB but he is a good player. He came into the league very young and continues to grow and learn and now lead.
  19. yeah you gotta love the revisionist history here. I loved Leonard in that draft but we always know it’s a crap shoot. Edmunds was a physical freak and we know this staff loves those guys. Meanwhile Rousseau was not supposed to be ready and Boogie was supposed be the plug and play guy while he developed 🤷‍♂️. Tremaine was good last week and this week before leaving. He may not be a top 5 MLB but let’s not act like he’s bringing the team down.
  20. I get that slot corner isn’t a “must sign” impact position like QB but guys like Taron that play with those instincts and aggression are hard to come by. He is vicious. And maybe McD and Frazier can coach up guys like the cavalcade of DBs that Belichick has done over the years, but Taron just works in this system and he plays hard. At the same time we have seen a lot of these guys take bigger money with other teams only to fizzle out because the system made them. Who knows what happens here. All told I think you’re right. We will make an offer but we aren’t going to break the bank. If Milano, Poyer, Wallace are any guide we might be able to keep him on that team-friendly deal.
  21. I wish we’d have extended him in the off-season but maybe he’s playing extra motivated because we didn’t. He is a freaking baller. We saw flashes from year one but he’s getting sharper and sharper.
