  1. There's no excuse for coming back totally out of shape either. I doubt his agent recommended he return to football totally unprepared to play. I'd rather see him doing push-ups in his driveway with a camera crew. Instead he apparently did nothing at all and returned to make us a worse football team.
  2. Again, this argument just doesn't work for me. You can handle the situation like Peters, or you can handle it like Boldin. You can point fingers all you want...there's no excusing his play when he returned. He wasn't even worth a roster spot let alone $11-13m. I don't like the idea that a guy you're going to pay to be in the Top 5 of his position can play at the level outside the top 32 for any reason. He should have been using the second half of last year to justify that kind of salary. Instead he used it to raise questions about whether or not he's worth it.
  3. That's too simplistic. I don't like how he handled the hold-out, I don't like when/how he returned to the team, and I don't like the way he played. It was a staggering change that indicates he doesn't always commit to the game 100%. As opposed to Boldin, who had the same contract issues, but played at an all-pro level and through injury. He's asking for the salary of a guy you believe will be reliable, consistent, and playing at an all-pro level. I don't think we can trust he'll be that guy.
  4. Yup, I'm with you. He's in the same league for me as Sam Aiken and Jackson. Watched him for years in preseason and you root for these guys to get their chance. On a team with so few bright spots the last few years I thought he was one of them. I hope he stays with the Bills. If he gets some huge deal from Detroit you can't really blame him for taking it.
  5. He did a book signing last year with Rich Eisen last year and took questions from a crowd. At the time Buffalo had...I think 4 wins. So I asked the question "What happened to the Bills only winning 2 games all year?" He responded "Ok what do they have 4 wnis? Ok they'll win 4 games this year." Weird thing is Eisen is a Jets fan (which he rarely mentions now being an NFLN employee) and Faulk was making fun of him for it They seem to be close. Maybe he's just bought into some of Eisen's hype.
  6. Yeah, i agree. I guess people really just hate Chad Johnson. I have a feeling if Rod Smart changed his name to Rod He Hate Me people would love it.
  7. I don't even like the guy but I do find it pretty hilarious if he actually did it. so odd.
  8. As time expired: "Looks like they've seen enough...now these guys are meeting at half court" come on.
  9. One of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Anybody know for sure who said that?
  10. There's absolutely no way the Bills are cutting Reed or Parrish. Why exactly would we be cutting them? We aren't exactly loaded at WR. Sam Aiken is already gone, and he was really the perennial camp stud to threaten to shake the starters up. Peerless Price is gone too. Behind our top 4, we've got absolutely nothing. If anything, Robert Royal seems like a possibility if that would truly be a surprise. Bills WRs: Lee Evans (Lock) Josh Reed (Lock) Roscoe Parrish (Lock) James Hardy (Lock) Here's what's behind them: Justin Jenkins (Practice squad fodder last year, I'll say he makes the cut, otherwise to the PS) Scott Mayle (destined for the PS) Felton Huggins (Would be lucky to make the cut, but is the second largest WR we've got) Steve Johnson (7th rounder, destined to get cut) Jason Jones (Div II stud, undrafted, possibly to the PS) C.J. Hawthorne (Helped make Colt Brennan a stud in Hawaii, but another undrafted FA, will not make squad) Scott Mayle (More camp fodder, was on PS in 2007, will not make squad) I mean. Yikes. Parrish and Reed aren't going anywhere.
  11. I've literally flown out of DC for a 1pm Bills game w/ a return flight after the game and gotten home faster than it's taken me to go to a Redskin game at FedEx. If you don't have parking taking the metro does make it managable...driving otherwise is insane.
  12. I'm a member of PatsFans.com....sort of. I joined following their Super Bowl loss to congratulate them on their 18-1* record and was immediately banned. Thankfully, I still get their update emails. Here's a classic from last night: "PatsFans.com Back Up. Just a quick note to let you know the forum is back up and running. We attempted to due a software upgrade around 2am ET and ended up having to shut the server down while we ran a back-up, followed by a restore which required some additional settings. Technical support has corrected the issue and we're back up, and I apologize for the inconvenience. Please contact me at Ian@Patsfans.com if you need to reach me, as the e-mail address this was sent from doesn't accept responses." Talk about a butchering of the English language. Specifically, I enjoyed the attempt to "due a software upgrade."
  13. haha. At least read the post before responding. Yes he's off topic, but still....
  14. ummm....sorry to break this to you, but being able to afford $60,$85,$95 seats doesn't make you rich...neither does $145, $160. The Toronto prices are right at NFL average, if not below - Buffalo's the only place you're finding <$50 seats. And thus the reason for the slow move to Toronto. Seriously, try coming to DC and buying a Redskins ticket. You could get a limo and see a game in Toronto for less than buying some Redskin seats.
  15. Really weird to hear such Stern hatred from people I'm sure have barely listened to him, if at all. Then the real irony is he's one of the nicer guys you could meet in contrast to some of the real jerks I've worked with in the media that are beloved because of their fake on-air personas. Anyhow, I have an MP3 of the segment if anyone wants to hear it PM me - I don't know of any place I can otherwise post it.
  16. funny, reading this thread then clicked on CNN and this was the feature video: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/crime/200...ens.attack.wbal
  17. It's funny to hear the 'sky is falling' posts on this board, the endless shots from various media outlets re: the state of the bills...and then you go and read about the Detroit Lions. THAT is a disaster. Not that this is a surprise to anyone. That team isn't head in any direction. They've been spinning their wheels for years. A user summerized their first round picks over the last few years. What a total train wreck: Terry Fair- bust ( not with team) Bryant Westbrook- injury ( not with team) Chris Claribourne- solid starter ( not with team) Stockar McDougle- average tackle ( not with team) Joey Harrington- ( not with team) Charles Rogers- (not with team) Mike Williams- ( soon to be cut or traded) You know, there really is no better way to feel better about your team than looking over the Detroit Lions.
  18. yeah, he's a huge guy. He was coming back in from lunch carrying this bag that just looked tiny in his hands. it was pretty funny.
  19. i ran into derrick dockery. really nice guy. he had nothing but nice things to say about the team and seemed really excited about next year. sorry...there's not much to report here but i just had to post this given all the 'at the airport i ran into _____ and he said ____". except this story actually happened.
  20. ha. come on, the guy's making a simple joke about snowfall in buffalo...espn airs a segment in which buffalo's MNF is selected as the highlight and does nothing but praise buffalo...you are going to complain about a basic 'it snows in buffalo' comment? come on.
  21. I like this fine but why in the world would we want to bring in Lavaar Arrington or Chris Brown? Enough of second rate guys who couldn't cut it on other teams and who can't find a team to sign them. They're just names...but they've not been successful enough to take a risk on - particularly Lavaar. Brown possibly - but we've already got our 2nd string back and there are better options for our first.
  22. This doesn't make any sense. 1. Lamont Jordan is terrible? Really? show me the stats. 2. Turner has played a mop up role? Really? show me when. 3. Turner is "suck ass"? Really? show me which plays. It's funny how nobody is arguing that they've seen Turner play and he's done poorly. That's because in no instances has he done poorly. Every time he's touched the ball - as a starting back, as a fill in, in preseason, etc...he's been highly successful. The knock on him is "wellllllll I dunnnno, he hasn't really shown me enough." of course given that you think he's done it in a mop up role, you've obviously not seen him play.
  23. I think you make a great point there's only one problem. You're planning how the Bills are going to use their #1 pick. They may simply pick Lynch. If they do, you have to really wonder if it wasn't worth it to simply trade it for Turner. I dunno, I really think people get too hung up on draft picks. I always prefer to overpay for a guy if you think he's the RIGHT guy rather than underpay and settle. Perfect example is Donte Whitner last year. Everyone trashed the Bills for the pick - on this board and general media. It was too a high a spot for him, it was a reach, they should have traded back, etc, etc, etc. Bottom line is the Bills saw a guy they wanted in the system and they acquired him. Who cares if it was #8 - they got their guy. I think the same thing needs to happen here for Turner. If the Bills have him ranked above Lynch (Peterson?) I want them to acquire him. I don't want them to settle for say, Julius Jones, just because he might be cheaper. I'm tired of settling for guys. Draft picks are nice because they hold an unknown, but once that selection is used often times it's not what (we) thought it would be used for in the first place. My examples are Erik Flowers, Willis McGahee, and Mike Williams. I understand the argument that Turner is unproven or isn't as good as his stats tell...but I don't really understand the obsession with how much it would take to get him. I of course want the Bills to get him for the best possible price - but if they think he's counterfeit, I don't actually want him at ANY price. It's just like with Chris Brown. He was available for very little...but who cares, he wasn't the right guy. Send him home. I want a back the Bills fully believe in more than I want to worry about how they get him. Ok I am ready to get trashed for those comments. The second argument is obviously is he for real. In my opinion, he is. My best comparison is Larry Johnson behind Priest Holmes. Many people said he was counterfeit; he's not. Now, in SD - is the running game great because of the team, or is the running game great because of LT? I think most people would agree it's LT. Of course their line was built by Houck, the best in the business, for about 25 years. He was brought on in LT's second year and only recently left for the Dolphins. So if anything, LT's stats are probably inflated by a great line. As are Michael Turner's. But that doesn't mean he's not a great back. I for one think he is. We've all been talking about his 6ypc stat. You can also look at his preseason numbers. It's funny, usually preseason numbers don't mean anything - but in this case, those are at least instances when he started (LT plays maybe ONE DOWN in all of preseason) against the 1st string defenses. So the idea of LT wearing down the D before Turner comes in is thrown out. Preseason Stats: 2004: 49 carries, 194 yards, 1 TD (4.0ypc) 2005: 25 carries, 222 yards, 1 TD (8.9ypc) 2006: 23 carries, 151 yards, 3 TD (6.6ypc) Again, this is just another way to debate his ability to be a top NFL back. I know it's just preseason numbers. But other than the stats he's put up in the NFL, the only other argument I have is I've watched him play for years...I think he's legit.
  24. what's with the knock on Lamont Jordan? The year after he was traded: Games : 14 Rushing: 1,025 Receiving: 563 (70 receptions) 1,600 yards of offense in 14 games - that's a pretty damn good year. Factor in he's on the biggest possible mess of a franchise I've ever seen and it's an amazing year. Last year he only started 8 games on a disaster team that seriously never had any chance from the start. There is no way he's a bust.
