  1. They both don't look so bad in this highlight reel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXtwxYiKYwQ
  2. Honestly a surprise make would qualify for any QB currently on the roster.
  3. He's had tryouts with the Patriots and Steelers within the last few months...both passed. I'd be surprised if he didn't end up playing somewhere on a 1 year deal.
  4. Funny to look back at pre-draft combine analysis- "Maybin stock is up" "Byrd's stock is down" These guys don't know what the hell they're talking about: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/story/11588632
  5. Given the number of failed off-season acquisitions we've had, it would be nice if they actually pulled this one off. They might have to over pay to do it - but so what. As long as a first isn't included, who cares?
  6. Haha...well right that's why I had to include the traded players. I can't think of any first day guys waived once, let alone twice that went on to start on other teams.
  7. That's true but... Mark Brunnell was sent to Jacksonville from GB as a 2nd round QB pick before getting a chance to play. Johnny Unitas was cut by the Steelers and then the Colts picked him up. While Favre was traded, Atlanta did decide to move him on to GB. Steve Young was pretty terrible in Tampa Bay before going to San Francisco. That's all I've got. I'm actually with you - I don't want to hang my hat on a 2nd round QB another team was willing to cut. It's a pretty rare thing for that to work out.
  8. AVP is a total moron. Typical idiot spouting off with negativity that exemplifies the worthless internet commenter that everybody hates. It's a BILLS site run by someone in their spare time to offer information for other fans for FREE. What are you doing for other Bills fans other than annoying them with worthless postings? If you can do better go do it. Otherwise you're simply pathetic. Steve, you rule. Thank you for keeping BillsDaily up for YEARS. I'm shocked you've done it for so long - great job. It's in my daily list of sites to check out. I wish there were more like it. Thanks so much for the years of work.
  9. haha I see I missed Losman which wasn't intentional - but ironic and funny. Who else did I 'take out' ?
  10. Oh it's not? Really? Round 1 last 10 years: You really want to pretend Rd 1 and Rd 2 talent are comparable? 2009 Matt Stafford 2009 Mark Sanchez 2009 Josh Freeman 2008 Matt Ryan 2008 Joe Flacco 2007 JaMarcus Russell 2007 Brady Quinn 2006 Vince Young 2005 Alex Smith 2005 Aaron Rodgers 2005 Jason Campbell 2004 Eli Manning 2004 Philip Rivers 2004 Ben Roethlisberger 2003 Carson Palmer 2003 Bryon Leftwich 2003 Kyle Boller 2002 David Carr 2002 Joey Harrington 2002 Patrick Ramsey 2001 Michael Vick 2000 Chad Pennington
  11. haha I realized that. Though I honestly I don't believe there's an actual chance he's the starter. I tend to think it's going to end up being Jason Campbell.
  12. Ummm right and you could name 100 QBs for every Tom Brady. To be fair about this, here's a list of all QBs drafted in Round 2 the last 10 years. Drew Brees was the first pick of Round 2 and obviously is pretty great...Kolb has a chance. Henne has shown some success. Otherwise, not sure Round 2 QBs look all that promising. 2009 - Pat White 2008 - Brian Brohm 2008 - Chad Henne 2007 - Kevin Kolb 2007 - John Beck 2007 - Drew Stanton 2006 - Kellen Clemen 2006 - Travaris Jackson 2005 - Charlie Frye 2005 - Andrew Walter 2005 - David Greene 2001 - Drew Brees 2001 - Quincy Carter 2001 - Marques Tuiasosopo
  13. If he's correct, I'd like to hear what two teams people think are in play. My guess is: 1. Philidelphia. They've got more draft picks than they know what to do with, just got rid of Brian Westbrook, and seem to like doing business with the Bills. 2. Cleveland. They've got question marks at RB, Holmgren is turning over the roster, and Mangini might have a positive opinion from past play vs the NYJ. Other suggestions?
  14. Edwards is horribly overrated, but he can teach you plenty about water safety:
  15. Why not start a "Favre set to retire; is he a Hall of Famer?" thread as well? See in a few years thread when we pull you back up to mock anyone who actually thought Warner wouldn't be a first ballot hall of famer.
  16. Is that Joe Logan far left?
  17. I actually bailed on Sunday Ticket last year. It wasn't Bills related - it's the fact that in a world that's now HD standard they still charge $100 for the HD package. Sunday Ticket had HD for a year before they came up with the scam to charge for it. Now still charging for it years later is particularly obnoxious given DirecTV's entire marketing campaign revolving around breadth of HD content. It's like if they were charging for color back when most TVs were still in black and white. I can't wait to see how much they try and tack on for their 3D package in the next few years. You can find lots of other ways to watch Bills games on TV for less than $415 a year.
  18. Or how about the colts are now a lock to go to the SB because they let in a team that took care of the one team they couldn't beat? Who says they didn't play this perfectly?
  19. I don't know if that is totally true. Last year, he had a chance to interview with DAL, NYJ, DET, DEN, WAS. He simply wasn't interested in any of them. And he also said this almost a year ago today: Asked his reaction to the NFL Network's Adam Schefter reporting he "is not mentally ready" to go back to the NFL, Cowher responded: "I don't know what he meant by that. My basis of making my decision is to get the itch to turn around a program and bring it a championship. That's what would drive you. I know the commitment it takes. And right now, the timing isn't right." http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nf...04-cowher_N.htm If he means that, it gives me the impression he wouldn't shy away from a challenge. The dig at Schefter there is also interesting.
  20. I hear what you're saying, I'm just not sure I understand that breaking point being Frazier(or other coordinator.) Particularly given what appears to be a real effort in getting Cowher or Shanahan. I am actually impressed that Ralph is doing what he can to try and lure one in one of the big fish. As much as well all wish it wasn't, it really is a hard sell. According to your letter, Grimm/Frazier/Garrett/Schott would all be grounds for you taking off. Assuming Cowher simply isn't interested, who is it you would then find acceptable?
  21. I think you have to look at it the other way. What positives would you use to convince a 'good' coach to come here? I think the main, if not only reason, is rabid die-hard fan base. That's an advantage over most any NFL franchise. It's not a minor point either. However for an established NFL coach, it's just not enough. Guys want to know they'll be able to win. I really don't know what our sales pitch is.
  22. I get the frustration tonyd. I think part of the problem is in 1988 you saw the NFL as a hobby. It was fun. I think every year it becomes more obvious it's just a business - and it can be difficult to stand behind one that has bad practices. The only voice we have is really with money spent on the team, however they have an advantage of deep loyalty and can get away with seemingly endless mistakes without consequence. Record season ticket sales last year proving that point. It's also a problem with the league in general. The league seems to be shifting power to the haves rather than have-nots, with the rumored removal of revenue sharing occurring in an upcoming vote. Moving the team away from Buffalo is certainly not a solution. If you think the pain and disappointment felt by fans posted here after a losing game is bad...try comparing that to removing the team all together. That really doesn't make any sense. The other problem is you've focused on a coaching search that you can't possibly know the full details of. It appears that Ralph is actually pursuing the biggest names he can attract. He met with Shanahan. He's obviously met with Cowher. That's more than I can recall in prior searches. If he tries and they rebuff, it's not fair to hold it against him. He did, at minimum, hire a GM that is a football guy with a top flight draft/personnel record. That's a step in the right direction. The great memories you had in the 90's was a result of fantastic drafting - as is San Diego's current team that Nix was pivotal in building. You really are free to leave at any time - and would make sense given that the Bills have not been able to keep up with the 31 franchises around them. However, the other posters are correct. If you are able to do so, you simply are not the level of Bills fans of those of us who aren't able to, no matter how frustrating it can get. The efforts of billboards, for example, might seem silly - but it's what fans realize they can do when they know walking away isn't an option. By taking the time to write a letter of that length I would suspect you really can't either. Fans could probably get behind some type of letter writing campaign as well, though not in the manner of what you've drafted so far.
  23. You're looking for validation that Buffalo is as good as 7 of the worst NFL franchises?
  24. I think the fans' desire for Cowher has been compounded with a desire to prove all the national analysts wrong. It's getting really annoying to be mocked for thinking Cowher would even consider Buffalo. The expectations would be insane if he decided to come here. I'm hoping he at least coaches another team that has to be visit Buffalo in the near future. It would be fun to listen to that serenade of Boos.
