[closed]Should we have kicked that FG?
Corp000085 replied to TheLynchTrain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
the coaching staff obviously had confidence in lindell to make that kick. he was asked to make a crucial kick and he did. Now, if there was no confidence in lindell, i'm sure the bills would have either gone for it or done a pooch punt and put the faith in the defense. However, they made it... not a totally ballsy call, but a call that a winner should make. none of that play not to lose crap. -
good teams win games that they're not supposed to win and also beat teams that they are supposed to beat. The bills have the first half of that formula right... Lets see about the 2nd part.

So a gigabit nas box running linux through a VPN router with dual 1 TB drives set up in RAID 1 configuration is overkill?
-
But their tied in respects to getting away with a crime though. OJ is currently in litigation right now though, so he may edge out marshawn by the end of the season.

it was challenged from the booth anyways. There were 3 outcomes... 1) the forward lateral penalty with 10 seconds run off the clock... game over 2) runner ruled down by contact. Jags ball with 3 seconds to go. Do they get lined up in time to down the ball and go for a 0:01 hail mary? who knows 3) ruled a fumble, bills ball. edwards kneels in victory formation. Either way, the right call was made. That was clearly a forward lateral.

It's ok... They're just humoring their unemployed friend tom donahoe with some anti bills rhetoric. It should enlighten his mood as he waits in line at whatever temp agency he's going to tomorrow.

Stroud held off the stat sheet
Corp000085 replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Stroud 1, Del Rio 0. That's the only stat that matters to Marcus. -
just for this week...can we please not cry about not
Corp000085 replied to jester43's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
2nd. Also, don't get overexcited when the ballwashing begins. I firmly believe that the Bills are turning into a very good team. A few more wins and everyone will be on the bandwagon, cause bandwagon sells. You are only allowed to mark out for a Berman "nobody circles the wagons..." on sportscenter later. Please, let this be the week without any power ranking threads. -
Winning this game means nothing!
Corp000085 replied to NavyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
dude.... horrible thread title. Winning this game means everything, as evidence in your post (which i 100% agree with). I've stated it a few times already here, the Bills finally found a way to win a game that they had lost 100x in the past decade. Winning that close game, in the oppressive heat, on the road, against a playoff team from last year... That's something that just hasn't happened since the clinton administration. Winning this game means everything. -
-Edwards is the real deal. Accurate as hell... Able to read the pass rush... Able to run a complex offense... Nimble enough to avoid the hit. This guy is the real deal. I know that it kills the JP crowd, but you can't deny that Trent Edwards has arrived. -Jason Peters. Dude, apparently you weren't entirely in "game shape". That speed bump of a play you made when edwards had the fumble was sooo bush league. With that said though, I'm pleased that the o-line was able to play respectably and they should really improve after a full week of practice. -Fred Jackson. He's a nice addition to the offense. The ability to make a defense react to you is huge. When FJ was in the game, he was a threat. Not only is he a decent RB between the tackles, but his route running, blocking, and pass catching threats make him an explosive part of the offense. -Hardy. Dude's a friggin monster. 2 huge catches on that TD drive, including the TD itself. I'm not totally convinced that he was entirely in bounds, but it was close, and not undisputable. Good enough for me. They're obviously working him into the offense. With reed being simply consistent, evans finally as a deep threat, and the RB combos doing their things, its really hard to find a spot for Hardy right now. Again, that's a very good thing, and its nice knowing that the bills are just that deep at WR. -The defense showed today the absolute definite description of a bend but don't break defense. That huge stretch in the 3rd quarter, they bent badly, gave up some long drives and points, but never once did they give up a big play that would have broken their backs. Stroud got in on that youbouty sack, kyle williams had a key sack in the 4th, mcgee had an INT, and the secondary kept everything underneath. Thankfully, the days of george wilson being torched are long gone. -Playcalling. The defense remained agressive throughout the game and did not wilt. The offense again went to the back of the playbook and threw some things at the jags that they'd obviously not prepared for. I'm very glad that they went for that FG at the end, but i'm a little dissapointed tha tthey fell for the onsides kick and didn't even challenge the ruling. It did appear to go the full 10 yards, but it was close. If you're calling ballsy plays, at least make a ballsy challenge. If anything, it would have spent a time out to regroup the defense. -The rushing game. They were effective, but still weren't dominant. A lot of that has to do with the offensive line. Hopefully they can get that worked out. Although the numbers weren't great, they were effective, especially lynch on that TD. The individual effort of lynch and jackson cannot be overstated though. They had a lot of yards after the first contact. Power running works in the heat. Hopefully they can get that elusive 100+ yard game for lynch next week. -Finally, historically, this is a game that the bills always found a way to lose. They simply had zero killer instinct, and you knew that if it was close, they'd find a way to screw it up. This time, it was different. They put together the go ahead drive then did the unthinkable... Shut down the jags on the ensuing drive. Finally, roscoe (who i'm already going to go ahead and call a pro bowler) shredded them on the following punt return. That sorta crap would never have happened in the past. Bad teams find a way to lose, good teams find a way to win. The Buffalo Bills are finally, finally, finally a good team. GO BILLS!

How long till Yobouty is starting?
Corp000085 replied to webtoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
he made a great open field tackle on garrard, but greer did break up a TD pass. I'd keep the status quo going right now, since our DBs happen to be very very good from top to bottom. I hate to use hindsight as a crutch, but NATE WHO?? -
Looks like Playoff-Caliber football to me
Corp000085 replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was telling my friend that this exact game situation occured 100x in the past, and the bills found a way to lose every last one of them. The formula for past failure was simple: come out strong, hold down the fort for a few series, start to fade, allow the other team to go ahead, then fail in the end. This game was different... That long TD drive by the bills in the 4th quarter is what this team has been missing for this entire decade. No way in hell would a bills team of the past been able to put that drive together and then get into field goal position to make it 20-16. As an added bonus, the defense held strong at the end. I'm telling you people, that kind of performance has been missing for ten !@#$ years. -
On that last field goal. I wanted them to punt
Corp000085 replied to RVJ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
had we punted, i guarantee that the defense would have allowed the jags to get into winning FG position. The coaches made the right call. Plus, Gggregggg williams, mr punt inside the opponents 40 yard line was on the other sideline today, not ours. -
no kidding... buy a nas box and a couple hard drives... or better yet, use an old computer, throw the drives in there, install linux and then you'll have unlimited bandwidth and storage.
-
we've had our blowout against an overhyped has-been team... now the bills need to put together a complete road game and shut down the jags, a decent team with some major home field advantage today (heat). One thing that has eluded the bills for the past 10 years or so is a down to the wire comeback victory. Remember, Jim Kelly wasn't Jim Kelly till he scored that TD in miami. Trent needs a performance like that to make him elite. With that said, if the bills continue to do their thing on defense and special teams AND have a better rushing game this week than last week, they will win. If not, its a crap shoot. We can all praise marshawn for being better than willis, but till he puts up a triple digit performance in a game that matters, he's nothing. Today is the day folks...

What is it with disgruntled ex starting QBs from tulane? It's like members of this board have personal experience with guys like this... -
Looks like one and done for Merriman

Lights out! -
A few things: 1) This guy is a hack 2) He obviously glossed over the bills/seahawks game 3) Obviously, since he writes for the credible ESPN, the bills were relocated to the nfc edit: here's the link to the whole column. He also rants on how the hit was not clean and compares it to the losman hit last year (which to his credit also called a dirty play) http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...=simmons/080909
