  1. Wait till he hauls in the 70 yard TD pass in OT to beat the pats on MNF... Everyone will believe he's a bill then!
  2. I had mozy for about a year. I found it to be a resource hog, so now i just rotate a HDD out of my RAID box and into my safety deposit box at the bank.
  3. I use time machine (mac's incremental auto backup program) running to a USB hard drive connected directly to the airport extreme. THAT drive is backed up by my RAID 1 NAS on a weekly basis. Basically, the only thing that would cause a data loss scenario is one that makes my loss of music and pictures inconsequential (i.e. house fire, stray bomb from Ft. Bragg, Nuclear fallout, swine flu outbreak, etc.) As far as failure rates, I do understand that SSDs have a limited life, like HDDs do, however, they're far more reliable than HDDs and have less variables that contribute to failure.
  4. After 2 weeks, I can totally confirm that I'll never, EVER, EVER go back! Now that I just said that, I think that I could only tolerate Windows if it was running on a SSD. I am not totally sure if OS X has a ton of hard drive thrash like Windows XP/Vista does, but there's obviously no thrash, heat, noise, or delay with this SSD. I am tempted to use boot camp to load vista just so i can have a benchmark as to how much faster this thing is, but I don't even want to bother. I'll just get a SSD for my wife's laptop when her current HDD dies. Aside from the SSD, the macbook is a phenomenal machine. I love the feel of the keyboard, the sound is of decent quality (although, i do use my headphones for music), the battery life is great, I love the multi touch pad... Basically, I love this machine.
  5. change whatever you're drinking to water, and only water. That'll take care of the first 10-20 lbs
  6. Q: What do you tell a lady with two black eyes? A: Nothing. You already told her twice.
  7. He obviously wasn't in the mood for pizza!
  8. i drink either 8 oclock coffee or dunkin donuts whole bean, whichever i have in stock. grind them about once a week or so and i will have my entire 10 cup bunn pot every day.
  9. Call of Duty 4 http://store.apple.com/us/product/TR102LL/A
  10. I've had a mac for exactly one week now. Even though I still haven't learned what I need to learn to truly manage this computer, i cringe already when I have to use a windows machine. I never thought i'd say this, but I don't think i'm ever going to go back. Yes, they're more expensive... Yes, you have to search and dig more for solutions simply because there's a smaller sample size... But, i've done everything that I needed to do: Integrate my e-mail, move my itunes collection, import pictures, install an av (i use clamxav), do work in word, and just tweak all the settings to my liking, without even a restart. I haven't turned my computer off or restarted it since I turned it on straight out of the box last week. You'd never get away with going a week without a restart in windows while setting up everything. That just doesn't happen. I'm not a fanboy yet, but I love it and i endorse it, and I already think that windows users are foolish.
  11. from what i saw, they had a bay to plug in your own stuff, but they made the high quality recordings to sell. personally, i thought the recordings were better than actually hearing it live.
  12. the dead is selling their entire tour in FLAC format. My dad bought the greensboro show and the DC show. I haven't listened to the DC show yet, but apparently they did acoustic for the first half of the 2nd set. My dad says the DC show is phenomenal. I'm hoping they do well in Buffalo cause my brother is going to that show.
  13. Will Hulk go the way of OJ and Benoit? I'd really hate to play Nostradamus here, but it may look that way.
  14. He gave up 30 years of marriage for that????? Seriously??? yeah, i'd do it too!
  15. I got the 24" led cinema display, the wireless mighty mouse, and the airport extreme today. I put the monitor (which is friggin beautiful) on my desk and left the mouse in the box. I'll be setting up the router later tonight after I'm finished using my network for a while.
  16. I'm going to the ceremony and the game.

  18. All right... Through the power of google, I have figured out how to transfer my outlook 2007 pst through thunderbird for pc to thunderbird for mac to entourage 2008. I have also watched some videos and read some stuff so that I can at least navigate throughout my home network and run the programs through the GUI. I do have one question though... What kind of AV do you mac guys recommend? I've read that none is ok, but I just want some opinions...
  19. Because its better to burn out, than fade away?
  20. Just for poops and laughs, i priced out a mac pro for like $25 grand. Oh to be a dreamer!
  21. Back home, yes.. The actual show was from 7:30pm-11:45pm last night though. Crazy good times... you couldn't even see across the arena due to the pot smoke in the air. very very very hazy inside!
  22. Absolutely ridiculous show. Great atmosphere, great music, great time. The guys are 15 years older, and Jerry is still dead, but it was awesome. Warren Haynes played lead guitar and it just rocked. Got a scattered cheer with the "truckin up to buffalo" line too.
  23. I decided the best way to get myself into the mac world was to dive in head first. I ordered a macbook pro, wireless keyboard and mouse, the 24" led monitor, and I got an airport extreme. I mainly went with that router because I want to cut down on the pieces of equipment and power consumption in my network. I can cut out the router and wireless AP that i have for one unit that can use the time machine feature. I'm most excited that the macbook pro has a SSD in it rather than a hard drive. Anyways, I would love for some input from the mac guys here about what i am to expect with my setup...
