Competition Comittee Rules On Dallas' Video Screens
Corp000085 replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It seems like the only problem will be a 300 lb DE imposing his "opinion" on the kicker after multiple kicks to the screen... However, if i were brian moorman or whomever, I'd aim for that sucker and try to break it. -
I wrote that thing at 5am... Does it matter though? There's an apocalyptic earthquake anyways, so it doesn't really matter who's ahead by 4 or 3

It will come down to the super bowl XLV, Buffalo vs. Dallas. A rematch of Super Bowls past, and also the first time a team (Dallas) plays a Super Bowl in their home stadium. The Buffalo Bills are down by 4 points with 6 minutes to go. Buffalo head coach [insert name of current up-and-coming position coach here] decides to punt on 4th and 2 from the Bills 30 yard line. His reasoning, play defense and win the field control battle. Buffalo's MVP and future hall of fame punter, Brian Moorman steps up to do his thing. He hits the ball so high that it literally makes the HDTV explode in a light show of melting circuitry. Dallas is penalized 10 yards and its Buffalo 1st and 10. Since Marshawn Lynch has run for over 150 yards so far, [2012 first round QB with all the tools, from california, and a glove wearing mary] decides to run a few passing plays. After methodically trotting down the field in field goal range, they then decide to give the ball off to [2nd string RB] on three straight dives up the middle to burn down the clock to 0:10. At that point, Mr. October, Rien Lindell steps up to do his job from the 20 yard line. As he lines up to kick, there is a devastating earthquake right thought the middle of texas and the game is never finished, thus the luck of the Buffalo Bills.

Scott Norwood signing autographs
Corp000085 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely no blame to Norwood for missing the kick or refusing to sign super bowl XXV merch. 100% of that blame rests on the shoulders of the defense. Want to blame someone, blame bruce, darryl talley, kelso, etc. -
I wasn't a big fan of his personal life either. Although he cleaned up his act over 40 years ago, he still killed someone. That can't be lost in all of this, so I offer an RIP to Mary Jo Kopechne. With that said, he did do a whole lot of good for this country, and he should be commended. RIP Ted.

cocaine... It's way more impressive to win medals and records when you're high on street drugs than it is to win stuff when you're high on performance enhancing drugs. Way way more impressive! -
Very revealing Gaughan article
Corp000085 replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All signs here lead to a billy joe hobertesque excuse of why they weren't prepared. Quick bits of insight: -if the offense practices against the 3-4 defense scout team, they'd be more prepared. -if said scout team was the starting defense, couldn't the Bills use the 3-4 in actual game situations, because you know... they practice with it? -Why don't the Bills coaches SEEM to prepare their players for game situations? -Countless Super Bowls, AFC East divisions, and games against the Bills have been won by the 3-4 defense since Tampa won it with their tampa-2 against the raiders (who had no chance no matter what defense was being run). Why the hell don't the Bills jump the shark and just run the 3-4? I truly can still handle thousands of defeats if the games were hard fought and they just got beat by a better team... I don't know how many more i can stand where it looks like our team is just not prepared. It's the same crap since 2000... Deer in headlights, run up the gut for a yard, check down to the dude in the flat who gets blown up for minus 3 yards, run run pass punt, playing for a field goal and missing it, halftime with 2 timeouts on the board (cause one was used for a ridiculous challenge), running out the clock but calling a bootleg and fumbling it away, etc. It goes on and on , coach after coach, player after player. Prepare your friggin team! This is the NFL. There's really no difference in the players' talent levels from team to team. It's all about coaching and preparing for the opponent. -

Wow, hindsight works in the Bills favor once!

Evans is a good receiver. If he were a great receiver or a #1 guy, he'd be mentioned in the same breath as fitzgerald, holmes, burress, TO, boldin, ward, and not to mention "pro bowl", "dominant", "gameplan around this guy", or even "touchdown". Again, he's a good receiver, but he's not a #1 guy. Great #2 guy though, so here's to hoping that owens' toe gets better by september 14th!

How many Bills players do you think read this board?

Because, after all these years, I'd have seen you posting from the locker room or players lounge. -

Crazy thing is: any one of us could actually be current or former Bills players, staffers, coaches, etc. -

I can think of about 12,000 TBD members who have better things to do! -

If Shawn Merriman takes cell phone pics of himself eating TO's crunch nuts in white spandex, you know damn well there's a bunch of Bills players who look at this board. In fact, I bet (i've got no proof of this) that we're specifically mentioned in their version of the employee handbook.. Something to the effect of an NDA for football/bills related message boards. -

I'd take Jeff Fisher if we're using foolish club members' selections as criteria. -
According to Erik Flowers' wikipedia site, he owns and operates an ice cream stand. I kid you not! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erik_Flowers

Thank god that had nothing to do with e-mailing while driving! In all seriousness, I don't know what they show at drivers ed now, but they need to get rid of those silly "race the train" or "get drunk after prom" videos and show this stuff. They can make some realistic video using CGI that would be very effective. It also would help to require you to watch this before you get your license or renew it. Make some age appropriate videos for old people, kids, soccer moms, etc.

I hate sports agents. Gotta respect a guy who negotiates his own contracts. Guys do it all the time in hockey, why not the NFL?

any comments on the 1st team oline?
Corp000085 replied to zazie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was a ton of progress from last week. With that said though, the D-line got enough pressure to hurry some horrible QBing by the bears, and the bills o-line had some moderate pass blocking success and more of the same with run blocking. Holes were few and far between, but still a major improvement from last week -
It's not the agent or Maybin himself. It's the system. If the system allowed any one of us posters to hold out for top dollar from a team or organization that we had no previous affiliation with, you'd be lying and borderline insane if you said you'd sign for lower "just to play". This current system allows for players to hold teams ransom and for agents to take advantage of the said 20 year olds. With a new scaled system, agents will be put in check, players will have no intensive to hold out as rookies, and teams will improve from maximizing the value of their draft pick. However, none of this will happen under the current CBA. The most important aspect of a rookie salary scale is that it increases the value of veterans looking for their 2nd contract. There's a hell of a lot more veterans in the NFLPA than rookies, so they should be able to get this passed next year. Unfortunately, its everything else that will cause the mother of all pro sports lockout/strike. For us NHL fans, the 2004 lockout is still fresh, however, that's just the tip of the iceberg compared to this next one.
