Bad Song by an Otherwise Good Band
Corp000085 replied to truth on hold's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I like Pride of Cucamonga though. -
And why does the mall management have to put extra money into the doors? They failed cause some d-bag in a 300 lb scooter rammed the doors. Sorry, in order to "prevent another such accident", mall management just has to send a link to the video. That should be enough to prevent another such accident. I hate those scooters by the way.

Bad Song by an Otherwise Good Band
Corp000085 replied to truth on hold's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I like the funk in Shakedown St. Especially if its a loooong live recording. I hate the studio version though, so that sorta makes it count. For dead songs, I cannot stand Box of Rain. Don't really have a reason. Just hate it. -
From the show that ranked Naimath as #100, I can totally buy Bruce as #31. Namaith is not 100 and Bruce is not 31... Either way, everyone and their mother knows where Bruce ranks.

Yes... ...just kidding

Wow, this is some article written by a former agent

Great read. This guy's story confirms what we all have known for a while. It'll be interesting to watch the fall out, if there is any, and to see if this Luchs guy fluffed the piece at all. -
Brett Favre might be in some hot water...

They're losing with no time left on the clock. This will be a tough comeback for Saban.

How good or bad is Henrik Tallinder
Corp000085 replied to billsfan89's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Tallinder was on his way to becoming a great D-man back in 05-06,possibly even a future Norris Trophy winner, but he broke his arm in the playoffs and was never the same. As other posters have commented, he's an average d-man now that won't cost you a game, but won't win one for you either. Personally, he drove me insane watching him play because he has a great deal of unfulfilled potential. Not like Trent Edwards flameout bad, but he will barely even be an afterthought in 20 years as opposed to one of the better d-men of his generation. -
Exactly. We are very lucky. Thanks for the concern!

Thanks. She was driving through rain and probably 1" or less standing water on the road. She went around a bend surrounded by hills on either side of the road. On the outside of the bend, there is a retaining pond on top of the hill. Literally, as she hit the curve, the pond breeched and dumped about 18 inches of water down on the road. The water was up to the top of her wheels. She obviously had no time to stop so she drove through it, made it about 3 feet before her car came to a dead stop. By the time she had gotten out of the car and walked around to grab our son, the water had already receded. She just wasn't meant to drive that car!!!

He seems like a smart guy with some NFL talent, but he's just missing that extra fire that separates good players from the pack. -
Eh, As long as I get the value of the car, I'll be happy. If this happened and I didn't have comprehensive coverage, then I'd be screwed.
-
Engine will need to be replaced as per the dealership. Now I'm waiting for the adjuster to get to the car on Friday to hopefully tell me that the electrical system is hosed and other undercarriage damage so that its totaled.

My Hunch- Trent Outta Here Today

Way to go, Nostradamus. -
Hey, I don't fault her one bit. She was driving through about 1" of water when it was flash flooded, Biblical style. It was definitely not her fault. She was driving about 20mph when the water rushed up to about her lower bumper. The water must have formed a bow wave and gone up over the radiator where the intake is. I'm honestly hoping for MORE damage than just the engine so that it gets totaled out and we can get a new car.
-
My wife drove her 09 Ford Escape home yesterday and literally drove through a flash flood of water. Wasn't her fault, but the engine died in the middle of the puddle. Oil and gas spilled everywhere, the air intake looks like a sewer grate. Obviously water got ingested into the engine and there was a blow out somewhere on the engine block or the crank case. I've resigned myself to the fact that the car will need a new engine, and possibly a new exhaust system (that was drooping too, possibly from the weight of water/gas/oil forced into it by the failed engine). First, has anyone here ever dealt with having a complete engine replacement due to a non-accident catastrophic failure? I've already started a comprehensive insurance claim on the thing. Is there a chance that the car would be "totaled" due to the cost of replacement? Second, I love that car. It drives well, its got some cool features, and its safe. Ford has really stepped up their game since my last ford in the early 90's. But, seriously, WTF was Ford thinking with the air intake? Yes, its mounted high above the engine, but the intake hole is angled DOWN. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't water accelerate at 9.8m/s/s towards the center of the Earth? That would be the speed of gravity, straight down into the F---ing intake? So you're telling me that they can put a SYNC computer in the car, but they can't design something like an inverted p-trap to keep water out of the engine? Really?? REALLY!! I don't know much about designing cars, but I do know laws of physics, including gravity. Put a friggin bend in the inlet! Needless to say, my VW has a bend to keep water out. German engineering at its finest (although the air conditioned glove compartment is pretty awesome too).

Yes,we all know Norwood could have won a SB.
Corp000085 replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We'd have driven down and scored a backbreaking TD. THAT was our game right there to win, not SB XXV. I firmly believe that if Thurman hadn't fumbled, the Bills would have scored and had the confidence to literally go off like never before. Demons would have been exercised all over the field that evening. However, because Thurman fumbled, I have totally blocked that game out of my memory bank because its waaaaaay more painful than wide right, since everyone and their mother knew it was all over regardless of the outcome. -
Kevin Everitt therapeutic hypothermia
Corp000085 replied to GaryPinC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nothing good ever comes when Ralph meddles. He's cheap and classless... Lou Saban should be on the wall. Argh! He fired Polian. Oh yeah, he also foolishly stood alone in front of the cameras and explained why he voted down the 2006 CBA. Newsflash to all the kids on this board: Unlike all of you, Ralph Wilson never will have to pay admission to the Hall of Fame. As for the story, even though the treatment is real-life medicine, its still an absolute miracle. I am a teacher for special needs pre k (age 3-5) children and I'm still waiting to have a case like this one. I've had many miraculous cases, such as horrendous birth trauma, drug addicted babies, premature babies, and the biggie, students identified as having a developmental delay without any atypical medical history. I'm still waiting for my first case where a student shows a significant delay due to an accident or medical emergency like this kid has had. To be able to relate to Kevin Everett's situation in my professional career would be really awesome. I do have my Bills flag hanging proudly in my classroom, just in case though! -
As a former high ropes course instructor, yes I could do it... But not like they show there. Without using lobster claws is suicide in my eyes. I'd climb with a redundant safety system, not semi-freely as they show in the video. And for the record, I'm WAY afraid of heights. I just have extreme amounts of faith in climbing safety systems.

Three MAJOR concerns about new policies at The Ralph
Corp000085 replied to Flutie Flakes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wait 5 years. After the NFL bubble bursts, fan relations will be priority #1 again. -
Although I hate to comment on horribly negative posts, this is the single best year in the history of the post-merger NFL draft to have the #1 pick. There undoubtedly will be a rookie salary cap and some form of official slotted system. Without even looking at the talent available, and strictly from a $$ perspective, if there was ever a year for incentive to suck, its this year.
