Best Moments as a fan of the Buffalo Bills
Corp000085 replied to LGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm 33, so i won't mention the obvious candidates... But my earliest memories begin w hen the bills were god awful in the early 80's. -Jim Kelly's welcome parade. Happened on my 8th birthday. -Clinching the AFC East in 1990 against the Dolphins with Frank Reich at the helm. -Halftime of Super Bowl XXVIII. I distinctly remember stepping out of the party scene and going to my room. It took me about 5 minutes to get myself under enough control to come back out, because I knew that this was our moment. We had the Cowboys on the ropes. I'll never forgive Thurman for fumbling away our only Super Bowl victory. -The snow game against the dolphins in 03 (or was it 02?) It was great. When it started to snow, the fans spontaneously began singing "let it snow". It truly was a winter wonderland that day. -
So how did Mr. Dareus look?

Edited for when I visit my wife's family in Girard and Hubbard. -
Set a price limit for $200 or so. That'll be good enough for a decent starter guitar. When you're starting out, its more about learning the chord progressions, scales, strumming and fingering techniques rather than the "sound". Starting out it is very frustrating to realize that you DO NOT sound like Stevie Ray Vaughan and you CAN NOT keep up with a Chuck Berry song. You're gonna suck, and you're gonna suck hard at first, but you'll soon realize that you were able to do a simple E-A7-B7-E riff without looking down, and then you'll have your first breakthrough. After your first breakthrough, you'll hit a plateau and may even begin to suck again, but you'll pick it up quickly. Moral of the story, learning the guitar is not like riding a bike. It takes many many months-years of practice before you're really good. Set a $200 price limit and don't blow up your credit card till you're good. Also, I recommend a steel string acoustic guitar. It's HARDER to play, but if you can learn on some stiff strings, you'll have the calluses on your fingers and the muscle memory to shred when you finally graduate to a good electric.

Indy radio host says Peyton Manning

With the talent that the 90's bills had, I'm almost disappointed we went to ONLY 4 super bowls, especially when you compare them to the watered down league of today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmGnHeylbDM look at Thurman's runs. He was absolutely ridiculous. Those shotgun draw plays that busted 10+ yards over and over. Give me a break. Plus, that defense. I'm very pissed that we didn't win any super bowls back then, but that talent on the team was unmatched and never will be matched again. -
RIP... His brother was quoted as saying he was "stable" like 2 or 3 hours ago. I guess things happen fast when you have a massive stroke. I lost an aunt to one. It's tough.

Yes, morale is low. I have no insider information, but if your organization was mired with 11 years of futility, organizational turnover, and the advanced aging of your CEO while other similar organizations have grown exponentially, you'd be saddled with low morale too. Win some games and heads won't be hanging.

Steve Jobs offers resignation as CEO of Apple...
Corp000085 replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Too bad... Unfortunately for Steve and his family, this appears to be a situation of "tying up loose ends" before he's gone. Hope your suffering is swift and your pain is eased! -
Steve Christie and Butch Rolle are my facebook friends.

Lee Evan's effect on Stevie Johnson

I'm waiting for the "Lee Evans' affect on Stevie Johnson" quiz before I vote. -

I believe this is a playoff team, and I'm correct in believing so. Our defense is improved from last year, our offense has remained unchanged (which hasn't happened much in the past few years), our defensive coaching is better ('stache), and we had a bunch of games we should have won last year. If this team figures out early in the season how to win close games, look out. Yeah, we've been a bottom feeder for many years, but this is still the NFL. Any given Sunday baby! Till they start losing games, I'll have eternal faith.

I like Manny Fernandez. He let me wear his Super Bowl ring.

I wasn't exactly defending the dolphins players for their comments. They did have a valuable argument though.

2000 yards in a 14 game season is pretty hard to disqualify or discredit. I give props to all the other 2k club members, but nobody but the juice did it in 14 games. However, with that said, I had a lengthy conversation with Manny Fernandez and Bill Stanfill at the 2001 HOF induction ceremony (I was there for Marv, they were there for Nick Buonicont) regarding OJ's 2000 yard season. They literally went on and on about how much they despised OJ and him running up his yardage totals. They mentioned how he'd continue to run after the bills were down and in passing mode. They were very very sour on that note. Things got better for our conversation when I was able to produce a lighter for Manny's cigar. Fernandez went on to show off the Super Bowl XVII ring and made some light hearted stabs at us, ie. "being from Buffalo, I guarantee you've never seen one of these". It was a good conversation to relieve all of us from the boredom of sitting at the ceremony all day. We congratulated them for their boy Nick and they actually congratulated us for Marv and thanked us for coming. If anyone remembers, that was they year when Buoniconti's paralyzed son stole the show.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Poz signs with Jax, 6 years $7.5M/year reported
Corp000085 replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For those of you who follow the Sabres more than the Bills, this is a perfect summation of Poz. So is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVVuKlcNJYA -
The revenue sharing thing helps the league. Yeah, the Cowboys owe the Bills some $$, but the Cowboys can pay off that stadium quicker with a 32 team league than with a 6 team league if all the small markets fold.
