Well, i'm white, so i've lost at least one cleanup helper: Rev. Jesse Jackson. By the way, its still raining hard. The federal government has been slow to assist though... my mail was delivered about an hour later than usual. Seriously though, we're just getting a lot of wind gusts and a lot of well needed rain.

TKO is the best linebacker the Bills ever had
Corp000085 replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
he's 241 lbs of sexual chocolate... At least that's what he told nfl countdown last year. -
Ok, we f=illed bathtubs last night, took in all outside furniture, the flag, and the grill... put the plants in the direct path of rain. The worst thing that's happened so far on the block is that someon'e basketball hoop (the kind with the sand weight on the bottom) tipped over. The only thing that's pissing me off is the outside landscaping. We don't have gutters here (its apparently a southern thing), but we do have one of those rain block things above the doorways... well, this causes a concentrated shower of water to fall in certain areas, one being the mulched area next to the front door. It's a lake now. Anyhow, things are still ok here, although the storm isn't expected to make landfall till later today. I'll post updates as long as we have power and/or cable service (internet is time warner cable, tv is done through directv). Based on the other hurricanes we've been through, directv has been a rock and has not lost connection. I guess it has to do with the fast moving clouds as opposed to the thick stationary clouds during a big rain storm. This storm will give me time to improve my madden 06 superstar though. he plays for the jags, so i need to make him good enough to demand a trade to buffalo.

Interesting reunion for McGahee Vs. Bucs

great... this tidbit is good for at least 3 token replays of the injury during the broadcast. -

If the game were played in buffalo, the bills would have a choice. Since the game is being played in Tampa, we don't! -
Steve, i've been in a couple hurricanes before. Last year, gaston blew through here really fast at night. It was pretty surreal to hear it storm and then it was done. Two years ago was isabelle, which was predicted to be huge, but it sorta fizzled. You are very right about the weather. I guess the only way to describe it is the way it feels in buffalo like right before you KNOW its going to storm. You can just feel it. something in the air. It's like that, but its warm. Also, the winds are incredible. Not only are they strong, but they're unrelenting. It's surreal to see the clouds go by, and to play football in it is something else. During isabelle, my frined and i played catch in the back yard of our apartment complex. We were able to throw the ball just fine, but when we threw it above the building line, it was like the ball was shot out of the air like a balloon.

Thanks guys for the good words so far. update: absolutely nothing is happening here. zero wind, no rain. You can just tell that the storm is close because the clouds are ZOOMING by fast. From all reports, fayetteville will just get hit with a lot of rain causing localized flodding. Our neighborhood is safe though. We're on a hill. At this point, i'm mainly concerned with the shingles, siding, and my landscaping. I do have about 10 bags of mulch on standby though... Again, all is well at this hour.

i sure hope... the bills need as much help on those two wildcard spots as they can.

well, drew was putting up some HOF numbers in september 2002 as well. It's very predictable that he'd do this. I'm also willing to take it to the bank that he'll be stinking up the joint by december. If there is a next year for him, it will be just like his final seasons in NE and his final 2.5 years in buffalo. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

I'm in fayetteville and the storm is projected to hit wrightsville beach (about 100 miles southeast of fayetteville). While it won't cause a katrina catastrophe for the beach areas, it will cause some damage down there. As for my town specifically, i expect a few downed trees and maybe some loose siding as a worst case scenerio. I just hope to not lose any shingles or siding because i haven't purchased a ladder yet. My house is clear of trees though, so nothing major will happen. Either way, i'll keep you posted if anything does happen. edit: my school district was closed for tomorrow, so i'll be finishing off my leftover retatta and beast ice from the weekend. Hopefully college will be closed too so i won't have to come tomorrow night.

Was the last Bills game vs. Tampa Bay...
Corp000085 replied to Dr. K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If i remember correctly, that was one of the 5 or 6 games that iron rob showed that he was truly a tough QB, despite his apparent glass jaw and propensity for major and/or freak injury. He was thrown all over the field and still played a good game. Too bad that i can only recall the chiefs games, both titans games (one being a loss), and that game as good games. Iron Rob will forever be remembered as being a loser with a glass jaw, but he did have his good moments. -
After reading the Bucs boards for 2 minutes

yeah, i hate all those signature pictures and crap... I can live with avatars here cause they're in a different field than the thread text is in. It's not a bad thing to have boobies everywhere on the screen, but it does detract from the football talk. -

Fans: Buffalo-- We are "wallers", they are "sailors". nuff said on that topic. The game will not be a blowout, but people who think that a rookie RB will put 140 on us are crazy. Bills win by 10 here. -
speaking of programming note, when will the "celebration of champions" thing that was taped in june air?

not to take anything away from this great argument, but did anyone catch this: Todd collins, yes, the todd collins was involved in a melee in 1997 too. He should have been arrested, but they don't arrest people with narcolepsy.

I know i know. I was kidding. I'd love for them to use the unis soon though, so that the petition can be submitted to have these be the permanent uniforms, with maybe the new style navy blue unis as the 3rd jersey for next year. But yeah, i was being sarcastic before.

Tensions HIGH in Atlanta!
Corp000085 replied to NotStuckonStupid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, that's it! Do you know what this means? The falcons got served, so now it's on! -
I like how TD throws in that the saints game would not be good due to the "closeness". Um, i'm not an expert, but how much friggin warning do they honestly need?? Like, maybe an hour and a half??? An hour to do the laundry. While the laundry is being done, the helmets can be cleaned. All we're talking about is folding 53 sets of shirts, pants and socks. Doesn't seem like too much to ask of the fans tom!

One Game Does Not a Season Make...

Is that the same as the Pixieland guy? Nah, MT is cool... He's an underapreciated offensive lineman who likes to make a quick buck. -

and from a guy with mike tice as his avatar, that means a lot! I do love that the bills dominated TOP and defensively. That's not the whole picture though... They dominated TOP on offense when they had to: the second half. You can read TOP in two different ways: 1, the offense ground out the clock (see super bowl XXV) or 2, the defense was so good that they kept giving the ball back tot he offense. I'm glad to say that the bills were a little bit of both. They played a far from perfect game. Losman had a couple bad throws. Reed dropped a ball. McGahee didn't get rolling till the 3rd quarter. McGee looks like he's still a little shaky at CB. But, the positives far outweigh the negatives here. Defense looks monsterous. JP CAN manage the game. JP wasn't jittery. Pass protection was great, run blocking was decent (crappy 1st half, good 2nd half), and for the love of god, give Lindell a game ball... No, he didn't knock in a 50 yarder in the snow, but he hit 5 mid range field goals. A much added confidence boost if the need to win a game comes down to his leg. As for the coaching itself?? Well, the bills won, so they did a good job. I wouldn't go with great. They still mismanaged the clock a little at the end of the game, and blew the time outs at the beginning which would have been nice to use as a challenge on that Carr "touchdown". Less penalties, good play calling on both sides of the ball. Confidence is the name of the game iwth this team. Better to have some going into tampa than not. I'm excited for this game. Last year, i was nervous about going into oakland... Cautious optimism -
Sue me for not being "patriotic", but i muted that crap... I can't stand simpson and lachey.

TB is not going to be a pushover like the sleeping texans were. They're better than advertised. However, if JPL doesn't play well next week, keep one thing in mind: He doesn't play defense. Good lord we've got a good D. That should be good enough for me!

I just made the point in another thread that jerry will be gone if the bills play like that for 15 more games. I'd LOVE to see krumrie as the next DC of the bills if this happens. I'd say that krumrie is due for a nice DC promotion, so why not keep him in house if gray is promoted somewhere? Anyone who's willing to take on sam adams, pat williams and ron edwards in a lumberjack match deserves to be a DC.

Question about Carr's TD
Corp000085 replied to MadBuffaloDisease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Looked pretty correct to me... However (correct me if i'm wrong), i believe the bills had used all 3 time outs by that point, so they couldn't have challeneged. -
Players that stepped up today
Corp000085 replied to bills_fan_in_raleigh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i second the nomination for lindell. he silenced us for the week with his 5 kicks... Plus, his kick offs weren't short. troy vincent--2 interceptions JPL--Made us all forget, at least for one game, the last guy... Also gives us some hope for the future. 10 years of quarterback futility will do that to you. Jerry Gray--if the D keeps this up, dude's going to be a distant memory next year when he's a head coach somewhere. 12th man--LOUD crowd today. Flustered Carr a bunch. Big Mo--It's much better going on the road to play a tough TB team with the confidence that this game brought... A lot different than going to oakland last year after being "robbed" against jax. Stay tuned.
