What We Could Learn From History
BetterNextYearRight? replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Could have almost easily substituted Tuel for Ej and it would have made sense. If we had to pick one of those two pretty sure even the Ej haters wouldn't hesitate for a second and not just because of draft investment. -
Don't see why it would be a good idea to cut Urbik unless he is the worst football player on the roster. He is a low cap hit veteran who has at least average play and can play C/G, even if Richardson/Hairston pans out why cut him? Good depth is hard to find in the NFL and Urbik is good insurance for the interior. LT-Glenn/Kouandjio LG-Williams/Urbik/Richardson C-Wood/Urbik RG-Hairston/Urbik/Richardson RT-Kouandjio/Hairston/Henderson Looks solid with a extra roster spot for Henderson. I'm on the fence with Easley considering the focus on improving special teams, he might be the final cut. L.Smith is also a fence guy, wonder if maybe they've thought about Henderson being the extra blocker, it's not like Lee has ever scared as a receiver. Ron Brooks is a cut imo, time for someone else with a better chance of developing to take over that role. Bradham stays, still too much upside especially considering LB depth is still a tad questionable. And Ladler takes Meeks spot, think he really shines in TC. Dark horse to take a spot is Robinson at CB.

The Paul Hamilton article doesn't really make me concerned about EJ. This is OTAs guys, first few weeks of practice, new plays being put in and run and QB/WR chemistry being made. There have been a few sloppy days regarding the whole team recently and what matters is how this is being handled now before Training Camp starts. Plus remember D is ALWAYS better then offense early into OTA and TC. Offense requires much more timing and chemistry. If the second half of TC rolls around and this is still happening then we should get the torches lit and forks sharpened.

should we be worried about the jets?
BetterNextYearRight? replied to billsgpr88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. Vick shouldnt scare anyone anymore, let him pass all day on you he will make mistakes and lose games for it. I was unbelievably happy when the Jets drafted Geno, he has many flaws in his game and IMO will forever be a backup/bust. The guy crumbles under pressure always has. To me the FA moves the Jests have made seem like Rex Ryan trying to save his job, none are long term difference-makers and CJ2K? Please. Yeah the jets always have a defense ready to ball, but between the public tire fire they are and a highly erratic offense I think they will be a bottom 10 team this year. Without Justin Rodgers the Bills will sweep them. Pats 10-6 Bills 9-7 Phins 7-9 Jets 4-12 -
AFC East Winner or When will Brady decline?
BetterNextYearRight? replied to Chas56's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Believe the order for me is Pats-Bills-Jets-Phins. Miami just isn't scary to me, they are very run of the mill in talent and will be learning a new offense this year plus a lot of that team is FA acquisitions (lol Knowshon Moreno) I think they struggle bad this year. Bills and NYJ are a toss up, NYJ will field a good D as always but I think if EJ progresses at all we end ahead of them. NY just doesn't have anything on offense that can't be handled. CJ2k isn't what he used to be and the WR's are pedestrian, throw in a little Geno "magic" and boom! Absolutely nothing. I will say I do like the way Bilal Powell plays though. I predict the Pats just secure the AFCE crown at 10-6, Brady's arm strength is declining and once that starts it just gets worse. He is a top 10 QB but not the terror he was. -
Bills Release WR Brandon Kaufman.
BetterNextYearRight? replied to Braedenstearns's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why is there 4 pages about the Bills releasing a player who (I believe) never played a regular season snap in the NFL and was not drafted? Summer is here. -
Predict the 2014 OROY and DROY
BetterNextYearRight? replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cooks stands the best chance for OROY, he will likely be 1v1 with some poor CB and is going to terrorize in the slot. Runner Ups Sammy Watkins think he breaks 1000yds and has a fair share of TDs. Bridgewater is a dark horse to me. Best rookie QB out of this class Bishop Sankey just a gut feeling. DROY most likely belongs to Clowney don't think I need to mention the Texans D-Line, ESPN has done enough of that. Runner Ups Jimmie Ward, SF will have a great year and with how studded the front 7 is he will have an opportunity to make plays Aaron Donald STL, great interior pass rusher has though short arms im not fond of, but he will put up sacks. Will Sutton CHI, my 2nd dark horse pick. think he's a match in heaven for da bears. -
Biggest 2014 Draft Busts?
BetterNextYearRight? replied to Mark80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bortles with the Jags, think he will be ruined early due to David Carr syndrome unless he actually sits and learns until Jags build more and are ready for a rookie QB. Think the Jags were better off waiting on a QB or taking a project who won't have pressure to start like Derek Carr Mosley-high expectations in Baltimore and how "safe" Tide players are makes me think he'll be sub-par. Film doesn't look 1st rd worthy to me. Kelvin Benjamin- Doesn't use his size to his advantage, had weight issues and I believe there were some character concerns popping up doing pro-day/visits. Jace Amaro-No in-line skills, just a tall average receiver who needs to learn his size. With the NYJ QB situation doubt he will grow Demarcus Lawrence-Why is a situational pass rusher taken in the high second? Jerrah do your thing. Johnny Manziel- Yeah don't think we need to hear another JM convo. -
Rbs McKinnon and West
BetterNextYearRight? replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would focus today on some more OL depth, DE and RB. There is always training camps cut where every year a few valuable vets look for a new home, so if they don't fill a particular hole today it doesn't mean they will leave it a hole. I think OLine depth Is key though, you can never have enough when it comes to the Bills. A decent interior swing guy and maybe another T just in case Cujo runs into problems, and something ends up wrong with Hairston yet again. -
Zach Martin or Taylor Lewan. Not in love with the idea of an OT, but those two guys don't seem like elite talents to me and if we were to draft one he better be a pro bowler. Odell Beckham might but the Bills fan in me will twist it. Clinton-Dix anywhere above pick 20 and everything will be out the window.

BPA - Rank this year's draft prospects
BetterNextYearRight? replied to voodoo poonani's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. Clowney 2. Robinson 3. Watkins 4. Mack 5. Evans 6. Dennard 7. Bridgewater 8. Donald 9. Carr 10. Beckham (surprise!) Runners up- Matthews, Ebron, Pryor and Shazier Based on watching games. Do not pay attention to the combine whatsoever unless it's players vs lower competition and just need something to verify that they are physically competent compared to NFL talent or something sticks out like a sore thumb. -
I too disagree with the Mike Evans/Johnny Manziel part. After watching Arkansas/Alabama/Auburn vs Texas AM, Mike Evans and the other WR Walker made plays on so many poorly thrown balls and were able to bail JM out by physically outmatching CB's and safeties. He is also terrible at throwing over the middle, saw multiple throws into double/triple coverage that were way off the mark and were either picked or easily batted down. He also does a terrible job of managing his pocket, breaking it and putting himself in trouble when no pressure is there. One of his trademark plays he runs back behind where his LT is engaging an end, creates pressure on himself runs backwards and LOBS the ball into the air about 10yards ahead of the LOS......only saving grace is his 6' 5 WR surrounded by 5 defenders is able to time his jump well and has strong hands. I don't know If Evans will be successful, isn't very field fast and pushes off like it's normal think he can at best be a okay no1, but serious Manziel doubts. Really agree about Barr, but some think he drops to the late first really hope the Bills aren't lookin his direction Same with Martin, versatility is his game. Useful piece but you want superstar potential play in RD1 not a average guard who can switch in a pinch. The USC C Martin can do the same in 2nd/3rd. Haven't watched Hageman so I can't talk., Latimer has the competition question and he has risen so fast it makes you wonder is the media hype machine is trying to pump another Blaine Gabbert.

Problem with Donald at DE is short arms. Makes a world of a difference, that being said I'd be OK with him at 9, Barr would make me wanna put my head through the tv.

7 Elite Prospects in the Draft
BetterNextYearRight? replied to Doug Flutie Band's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does anyone know why Bortles name has plummeted in the draft? 2 weeks ago he was going in the top 10, this week he isnt even in the top 20. I'm not a huge supporter of his but it just seems very odd that the guy with the best tools and highest ceiling is behind Manziel and Teddy B. -
Bridgewater - the luster has come off
BetterNextYearRight? replied to OldTimer1960's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seems every year we see teams "reach" for QB's who aren't top 15 material. When teams are looking for a QB and know who there guy is they WILL pcik him high regardless of what Kiper and McJamarcusRussellisagod say. About Bridgewater, who cares If he needs gloves? Don't see why its a concern that the equipment manager has to order them, Watching him when he's playing, he is a first round QB and will be successful with the right fit. I see him as a more naturally talented Christian Ponder. @KOKBills thank you for posting that, for the first time I agree with Casserly. The first time ever. -
Watkins, Mack and Evans are both worth trading to 4-5-6 area for. Highly doubt Manziel will go top 3, understand some people are big fans but no matter how you word it he has bigger question marks then Bortles and with the strength at other positions I think he goes anywhere between picks 5-20, and a team targeting him will trade up or down for him.

IS JIM SCHWARTZ A DINOSAUR???
BetterNextYearRight? replied to DOGNESS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like what other posters have said, not all 4-3 defenses have the same playbooks and tendencies. Wanny seemed to run a very basic and vanilla 4-3 that was highly predictable and did not play to his players strengths at all. Wasn't it around that time Brady mocked us postgame saying we ran the same play over and over and he didn't need to adjust whatsoever? Another thing to think about if you are concerned is we do have a different line-up and actually the only question on defense right now is do we have the DE's? Lawson has experience but has been passed around the league playing in that spot, Hughes may not transition with the same production and Branch might not be fast enough to contain the edge. Plus if Williams goes down we might be in trouble, really hope we add a vet DE around TC cuts and a mid-rounder. If a remember correctly we had a problem with DE's sealing the edge and driving the play inside during the Wanny era, that is a basic concept in a 4-3 and another thing we're gonna wanna keep an eye on come regular season. -
Please sign Richie Incognito
BetterNextYearRight? replied to uticaclub's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its a young locker room, you want a guy with an issue like that in it? Especially with how public it was made? The media would be all over it, does his talent make it worth it? Pretty sure no. They have taken on guys with baggage, but it was under the radar, nothing to lose type Spikes is just a trash talker. Kiko's legal issues were nothing too bad. Rogers could have been, and was, cut at no expense to the team. Incognito is a much different situation. -
Would You Make This Trade ?
BetterNextYearRight? replied to Owen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So in this trade the Bills lose their #1 WR, end up with a 2-2nd year players, a rookie and Mike Williams (who may be more of a question then some think).....terrible idea. Stevie isn't clutch yeah we get it, but the dude gets open and puts up numbers. EJ's development would be hampered by that trade. For the record I LOVE Watkins, but he would still be a rookie without a true vet presence on the other side. And what if Williams got injured? EJ would be in big doo doo. Know some people wanna ditch SJ, but unless a trade for a established vet (who isn't injury prone/flash in the pan) the Bills O would regress. -
Matt Pachan T (off-field freak accidents, has 1st/2nd rd talent can play G/T) Jarvis Landry WR LSU(average physical tools, but runs good routes, gets open, tough all over the field) Carl Bradford OLB ASU (6ft 1in 243lb play reminds me of Kiko only weakness is over aggression and short arms, can play FB) Trevor Reilly OLB Utah (makes plays, can DE and OLB. is 26 but has great instincts, size and speed) Daniel McCullers DT TN (somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 7 350lbs constantly took on double/triple teams, pure run stuffer) Jalen Saunders WR OK (do it all fast man) Stephen Morris QB MIA (all physical tools, good leader but makes bad reads and trusts his rocket)

Houston looking to trade 1st pick (Buffalo?)
BetterNextYearRight? replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Highly doubt the Bills move up, and if they did the price must be low. 90% of rumors are blowing smoke, but seems like every year a few end up being proven/or done around draft day, really have a hard time believing this though unless the Bills are in LOVE with Clowney. If the Texans are really pushing to sell it I would've thought you would see the 49ers name come up with how many picks they have which is another reason why I'm skeptical. No the Bills wouldn't take Mack, his potential wouldn't be fully used here. Clowney or something so bad half this board would go nuclear. -
Not too worried, just a visit and the guy could easily be taken by the Jets. Don't think the Bills would entertain the thought of CB in the first, probably a option if he is BPA in the 2nd or have a cheap trade up deal. VT defenders have a bad track record, haven't watched much on the guy all I know is it definetly seems like Gilbert/Dennard are considered better talents. For the record if we are talking about CB's I've watched every MSU game the past 2 seasons and Dennard will be a top 15 CB in this league. If anything maybe we see a vet brought in after the draft but with the Graham signing idk. Can any VT fans give us some bits about him? Hate when people just copy/paste, some amateur reports are so off and often conflict with themselves=P

Meh....ASJ/Niklas in the 2nd if no Moses/Jackson please! Moeaki returning to form would help regardless (you know that "new" Pats thing called 2 TE sets) but can't count on It and would be wrong to. A better blocking TE who can run is really helpful to seal the inside with outside runs, helps the whole offense.
