La'el Collins would be an absolute gift if he fell to 50. If either him or AJ Cann are sitting there, sprint to the podium. Clive Walford would fit the bill if they want another TE. Very much like Clay he's a good blocker with good hands and extremely nimble for his size. Doesn't have the straight line speed but can make tackles miss and plays faster then his 40. Like I've said before if Dorial Green-Beckham is still around, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he is the pick. They did look into Brandon Marshall and with the failed Mike Williams experiment last year they might still want size at WR. Wouldn't agree with the pick but I could see it happening.

I agree the Pats would have annihilated the Bills. They obviously didn't care, on both sides of the ball, I'm willing to bet all their locker room could talk about was playoffs. To the original topic, really La Canfora? I struggle to see how the Fins have improved much if at all, actually believe they are probably worse then last year. Without Mike Wallace who is gonna stretch the field? Sure he didn't produce well and was overpaid, but he was the only one keeping Safeties honest. Their run game doesn't scare anybody average to below average. If Tannehill doesn't take another step, which is a valid question I'm willing to bet that offense is in big trouble. Suh improves that line but they still aren't a top 5 D. Probably between 8-15. I don't hate the Dolphins as much due to being a younger fan but still don't think much of them at all.

I like Petty a lot and I'm typically against post RD2 round QB's The Bills can afford a project or gamble in the 2nd, the whole point to this FA was to open up the draft to BPA. The whole thinking of "we don't have a first so we need to pick a def day 1 starter in RD2" is poor thinking. This team isnt built for a 1-2 year run, with where our contracts are we are built long term for this team to stick together. With the depth/continuity they can take risks. With the Bills being into the Marshall hunt and the Williams experiment last year I really think, for better or worse, that DW wants a big end zone WR. If Dorial Green-Beckham lasts until the Bills pick I think he is it. Not that I would agree with the pick.

The better blocker part might make all the difference to the Bills though. People say Scott Chandler would be a good #2TE, well wouldn't he be better if he had Gresham's blocking skills? Could a Clay/Gresham combo be possible? Curious to see if the price tag on him is lower then expected due to this back injury news.

Justin Blalock Release
BetterNextYearRight? replied to montanafan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did Urbik really actually go downhill? Didn't play for most of the year and there really wasn't a straight answer that I recall. Sounds like Marrone's doghouse to me. Glenn's regression is what bothers me. Whatever it was hope it gets fixed, because if he continues sinking it doesn't matter how the interior improves. Don't think we should be concerned to much with the current state of the interior OL, young players do develop and between Richardson, Hender and Kujo one of them will be grow. Factor in Incognito being at the very least better then Pears, perhaps Urbik being given playing time and the draft still to come we should be in solid shape. -
I think EJ will win out, the front office still wants him to and I'm willing to bet the new scheme fits him better, EJ can be a lot like Kaepernick, has a very similar skill set. If they let EJ loose on the play action with Harvin, Watkins and McCoy on the field he will almost always have the option of running the ball. I've been very pessimistic about the offense past few seasons (under 25th), but if we pick up another G and TE I expect top 20 easy.

If we had a D when Gailey was here....

Fitz didn't beat us. EJ Manuel did. -

It was pretty good until teams figured out Fitzpatrick couldn't throw a pass more then 10 yards downfield. Load the box and no adjustments to be made, highly doubt Spiller will post those same numbers ever again even if the cast around him is similar. Overall I'm not too worried. -

WR Percy Harvin's first visit is with Bills
BetterNextYearRight? replied to Punch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bulaga was a known target, believe Boling as well. Think they are keeping a close eye on the Saints guards at this point. Harvin and Watkins would present a difficult choice for defenses, cant let those safeties cheat up the field. Should help out the running game in that regards as well, plus the screen game would be ridiculous if we got some guards in here. Harvin with a side of Jahri Evans/Ben Grubbs please! -
Gabbert or McCoy

Thanks, for some reason thought it was 4 or 5. Guess I should google more. Still Gabbert shouldn't have sniffed rounds 1-3. -
Gabbert or McCoy
BetterNextYearRight? replied to Bring Back Kelly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think Roman had his choice when it came to much of the roster from how the SF situation sounds. As to Gabbert, it still shocks me to this day how that guy was taken in the top-5. He was horrible in college, only positive was he "looked like a QB". Couldn't read, couldn't move in the pocket and was inaccurate. EJ dominates him as a prospect. I wouldn't mind McCoy as a backup but pretty sure we have too many maybe backups on the team already. -
Buffaloed in Pa mock draft
BetterNextYearRight? replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
2nd Laken Tomlinson G Duke 3rd Clive Walford TE Miami 5th Jeremy Langford RB Mich St 5th Doran Grant CB OSU That would make me very happy. I think Jesse James will be a decent TE at the next level but both Williams (Minn. TE) and Walford are the superior prospects and the Bills could really use a speedy inside threat. Haven't watched any of Ajayi's games to have much of an opinion, but isn't the 2nd round a bit too high for where he is projected? Cant see the Bills willing to use a 2nd on the position quite yet with Jackson still serviceable and Bryce Brown hanging around. Like the Fowler pick, big bowling ball who is a tough blocker. Keep an eye on Jeremy Langford, smart runner who reminds me a lot of Fred Jackson. -
The Five Most Overrated Players In The NFL
BetterNextYearRight? replied to sferris's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Matt Stafford Colin Kaepernick before this year Larry Fitzgerald Percy Harvin Aqib Talib Polamalu Two players who I also find surprisingly overrated are Matt Forte and Demaryius Thomas. Forte always seems like nothing special, the numbers are there though. Thomas is a product of Manning and still 1 dimensional, wouldn't want him as a #1 WR. Easier to run down the field when J.Thomas, Welker and Emanuel Sanders are causing havoc on a defense. -
True cost of Bills' Watkins trade
BetterNextYearRight? replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When will we just let it go? It happened, he's an elite talent and he is a bill for the foreseeable future. We needed talent let's enjoy it and worry about next year and why the bills ever let da'rick go. -
Dream- Bevell Honorable-A.Briles Eh- Hue Jackson Hell no- McDaniels, Reich Pegula didn't learn from the Lafontaine disaster if Reich is hired(assuming he has a say in it), not exactly the same thing I know but Reich could use some more experience and wouldn't be the best choice out there. Don't think he is a top 5 candidate this year. Maybe next. McDaniels is just ugh no. Can standing next to Brady make me look good too?

Even if the Bills lost value, Watkins put up near 1000yds in a dysfunctional offense as a #1 WR as a rookie. Any other year we would be singing his praises because rookie WRs are not supposed to do that, this year was the exception. Mike Evans is the only one I'm as impressed by, wasn't sold on him pre-draft though. Sammy has the highest ceiling of any WR drafted this year, book it. And the 16th pick (think its 16th atm) was not gonna get us a QB anyways, it all comes down to whether EJ develops or not for Whaley, it's a topic that's been beaten to death but there is still a chance it happens. Kujo wasn't a panic, thought Whaley said in a conference or something that they expected him to be gone, had the highest grade left and also filled a need. However missing so far on that pick might have cost us the playoffs this year. A decent lineman or a tight end could have made just enough difference, G.Jackson or Sef-Jenkins would have made the draft a A+. P.Brown set the LB's over the edge. Richardson is good developmental depth Henderson was great in the 7th, has a pro bowl ceiling imo. If he did panic, he still had a top end draft. Better then 2/3 in the league. Whaley has earned his time, hope the Pegs see it the same way.

Urban Meyer is hardly a name that isn't well known among the NFL, why wouldn't he have gotten a HC job or even rumors of him being contacted yet? I think he stays in college, if he were open to the NFL, it would being going around ESPN like Chip Kelly's interviews with Philly and others. Fwiw, I am a fan of his but have a boiling hatred for OSU (Mich St. fan).

Connor Shaw has heart. Easy player to root for during his college career, hope he can become a decent backup QB. -
I don't think you draft a guard just because you already have Kujo and Richardson along with Urbik, Pears and Williams. That's enough young players at a position you normally only keep 4 of, they will have to get rid of one of the veterans to make room for another guard anyways. Orlando Franklin and Mike Iupati I bet will be getting some looks if they hit FA, but I just cant see them putting another 21-23yo in there. Rd.2 the first players I'd want would be Nick O'Leary, Connor Cook (by some miracle), Devin Funchess and Jaelen Strong. Strong isn't a name that has been brought up but he would be perfect opposite Watkins. 6 4 and he runs fast, has put up big numbers in his biggest games this year. RD3 you have to get a quality corner that has some speed, McKelvin is the only guy back there that has a set of wheels on him. Some names Doran Grant OSU, Ron Darby FSU and Jalen Collins LSU. Then I think it's all BPA. Jeremy Langford RB Michigan State JT Surratt DT South Carolina Trey Flowers DE Arkansas Bryce Petty QB Baylor AJ Johnson ILB Tenn John Gray RB Texas

I'd love for the Jets to draft Winston, really don't believe he will translate to the pros plus this year he has looked far from brilliant. A lot of his throws are wide open targets, has/had a 1st rd WR, soon to be 1st TE and 2-3 other top flight talents around him. His O-line is loaded with prospects, just don't believe it's all him there. Mariota is a wild card IMHO, he will need a lot of work mentally but I would put him a peg above EJ. Same type of prospect.....big, mobile, big arm but system questions and falling short in big games. Not as inconsistent though. Connor Cook is who I'd be scared of them drafting, kid is brilliant and a true pocket QB. This year's QB class has a chance to be very weak if both Cook and Mariota stay in school, probably no one who is a surefire 1st rounder without them. Have not watched more then 1 or 2 games of Mannion from OSU but he could be a sleeper.

Don't think Polamalu even cracks the top 10, Ed Reed was better imho. I'd say Brady, Manning, Watt, Gates (Tony G. is hard to beat), Graham, Sherman, Rodgers and Megatron are at least top 5 for their positions. I don't think Gronk will have a long enough of a career to be considered anything better then great.
