The replacement officials called what they saw. I feel like officials today are so worried about ruining the chances of a "good team" that they screw over the second tier teams. And the sports media makes it all go round, because they stick up for the fans of the popular teams for ratings. The replacement refs didn't feel pressure in this sense, because they knew they were going to be hated no matter what they did.

I can't be the only one who thinks these kinds of ideas are terrible. I have no doubt that, physically, he is up to it. But onfield experience helps develop instinct and an inherent feel for the flow of play. If you don't have that feel, you're liable to get your head ripped off out there. I'm not saying that NFLers could just go play rugby either. These aren't two sports that you can seamlessly transition from one to another. But who am I to tell an NFL GM or coach what to do with their players? Maybe this dude just gets the game.

I'd much rather have a D that makes big plays but gives up a big play once in a while than a team that slowly bleeds to death over the course of 4 quarters.
