  1. How about a 3rd from this year and a 3rd from next year?
  2. Finally, a rational point of view on these moves. Especiaaly DT -- We picked up 3 DT's last season: 2 rookies (1 a 1st rounder), and 1 reasonably high priced FA. I can't believe people REALLY think that we would blow our load and pick up another in the 1st round of this draft. Maybe later on, but not with the first pick....
  3. Have the Bills won a playoff game since the inception of this website? If not, is there a link? Maybe some of you are aware of this, but this possible connection just occured to me. Do we need to pull the plug on the site? -perform an exocism? This situation must be resolved prior to the start of the season, so we do not miss the playoffs again. Your thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. (All in good humor, of course, with respect to diehard site keepers and posters ).
  4. Another advantage for Davis is that he was brought in by the new regime vs. Aiken and Wilson were brought in by the old one. If TD were still here that would be a huge factor, but not sure that Marv & co. are really as petty. One thing they have been consistant on is that they place a premium on speed and Davis could be the fastest player on the team. The fact he also is making special teams tackles is huge considering he is doing that for the first time this preseason.
  5. I saw an article on this a few months back, but can't find a link to it. Fox will again broadcast all NFL games in HD. CBS will only have ~3 games per week in HD; they will braodcast all in HD beginning in the 2007 NFL season....not sure why, though. All games that are broadcast in HD are carried on DirecTV superfan (or ESPNHD & NBC (if you get an HD version) for prime time games)
  6. Got it 2 weeks ago. Love it! The sound is fine considering it was recorded in 1994, but I can only play the 480 kbps Dolby Digital audio stream not the 640 kbps from my PS2. The video is nicely restored and looked pretty good on my big screen (42") - just wish the original concert was recorded on film instead of video (only so much can be done to improve video).
  7. .....and groin
  8. The Bills sold out every game in '05 based on the false hope that the team was good -- most games were vurtally sold out before the season even started. I can guarantee that will not happen in '06 based on the fact that most people know that the team will suck. So factor in a large drop in Bills ticket revenue into your flawed margin equation above...
  9. Yeah. Seventh out of eight teams that make the playoffs in the west. Not too impressive: Overall Team GB 1. San Antonio - 2. Phoenix 4½ 3. Denver 8½ 4. Dallas - 5. Memphis 6 6. L.A. Clippers 8 7. L.A. Lakers 9 8. New Orleans 10½
  10. See Pittsburgh Steelers -- "The Chin" was a special teams coach.... He's been a good head coach too
  11. I'm sure if you ask GW, his firing was the right place at the right time. Since being fired by the Bills, the following positives have happened: * Hired by NFL legend as AHC of one of the most prestigous teams in the NFL * Learning at the right hand of an NFL legend * Makes more money as AHC than HC of the Bills * In the playoffs with a talented (at least on D), winning team * Respected throughout the NFL as one of the brightest coaches in the business If he stayed with the Bills what would likely have happened over the same time frame: * Saddled with Bledsoe's limitations for another year * Saddled with "rookie" QB growing pains for the next year * Saddled with poor OLine talent * Saddled with poor DLine talent * Daily interaction with a front office full of people walking on eggshells * Provided with players that do not fit together as a team * Deal with Bills fans that call for your head on a daily basis * Viewed as one of the biggest coaching a$$clowns in the business This whole deal was not raw, it was fantastic for GW. Probably one of the best things that has ever happened to him in his professional career.
  12. Great synopsis. One of the first things Joe Gibbs did upon his return was hire GW and immediately made him AHC & DC. There were a number of factors beyond the influence of a Head Coach that caused problems in his third year.
  13. Two words: PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
  14. Sportline team report said he received "high grades" --Second-year OT Jason Peters, a converted tight end, earned his first start at right tackle for an injured Mike Williams (ankle) and earned some high grades. Williams dressed, but saw action only on special teams. http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/teams/report/BUF/9015853
  15. JP vs KH I hope not
  16. How could I forget about Gregg? And Pendry is now the OC for the Texans satrting last week and they actually scored a TD!
  17. Many are talking about running MM & Co out of town. I guess we have not learned. Let's look at the list of loser coaches that were run out of Buffalo because they supposedly sucked. How are they doing now? Wade Phillips - San Diego DC - shut down the Pats and golden boy Brady last weekend Dan Henning - Panthers OC - runs a solid offense that ran up the score against GB Mike Sheppard - Saints OC - leads an offense that rushed for 160+ yards against the vaunted Bills 'd Turk Schonert - Saints QB Coach - coached a very composed Brooks in the face of massive Bills blitzing ....and don't forget everyones favorite........ Kevin Gillbride - NY Giants QB Coach - mentoring and developing one of the games up and comming passers, Eli Manning -- and doing an EXCELLENT job of it! .....but who does everyone still love? Ted Cottrell - Vikings DC - a defense that can not stop anyone Am I crazy? Getting run out of Buffalo sure isn't slowing these guys down. Is there anyone else I'm missing?
  18. I generally agree, but am concerned about the number of third down conversions they give up. Even early in the game when they are still fresh.
  19. I think based on the last few election results, they believe that the Dems can be crushed and they will not have to worry about long-term consequences.
  20. Didn't he play the next season for the Bills?
  21. I'll go back to the original question: "Why so much faith in J.P?" Because Mularkey, Clements, Wyche clearly supported the change. All 3 of which have coached many NFL QB's in their time. Especially Wyche, who coached Montana and Esiason. If they feel confident that J.P. is ready to start, I will trust their opinion way before a worrywart fan. That bein said, its still the NFL and he still may not pan out....
  22. Why would he be the 3rd choice? I'm assuming that your assuming that James and Alexander would be better choices. The problem with going after those guys is that you need to give up multiple picks including a 1st rounder to get them. Travis can be had for a 2nd or 3rd rounder (I think). That evens the field a little for henry vs. James and Alexander.
  23. I like Pau McQuire's (sp?) comment about Mauck: "He always look like he just ate something bad"
  24. Thanks!! Now I feel like I'm "in the loop"
