What type of head coach will Ralph hire next?
Yard Monkey replied to MURTR's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't get it, we can't vote on Shanahan, Holmgren, Gruden, Cowher, etc. because you don't think Ralph will hire them, yet you have Lindy Ruff as a choice?? My vote is for a known vet coach, at this point because that is "the type of coach I want" We can't roll the dice on an unproven commodity right now (see G.Williams, Mularkey) or a retread (see current coach). -
Were is it? How do you get to it? Link?

Ok, this seems like a great alternative to Directv

I have a question on this service since I will be in Switzerland for most of the season. Yahoo will not let me access the site to view the details since I am currently in the US. It says I am in a restricted territory! How much does it cost? You mention that it is like NFL Sunday Ticket, but the ticket does not carry all games. There are blocked games, games you must watch on the local broadcast + Sunday night and Monday night football that are only carried on the NBC/ESPN network feeds. This will carry all games? -
Buffalo's descent into mediocrity came when ...

Actually, I think it started when Polian was fired. There was just a lot further to slide from at that point.... -
...for a coach that led them to 0-16 instead. WTF is with this doom and gloom thread!

Fair enough. Though it is fair to say we do not know for sure exactly what was offered or not offered since we were not there and most of the leaked reports varied. A better way to say it: there is no way in hell the Bills were going to make him the highest paid lineman in the league after his stunts + 2 years left on his current deal....
-
EXACTLY. It really amazes me how people continue to think this is an issue of being cheap. There is NO WAY IN HELL the Bills were going to keep a player that quit on the team. Holding out is bad enough, but the fact he clearly did not play up to his ability demonstrates that he quit on the team. You can not reward a player for that behavior or you will see every other player that thinks they are outplaying their contract (see Jackson) also quit on the team. The Bills did not create the collective bargaining agreement with the players, but they play by it and so should Peters. He needed to go...end of story. With that said, I wish Peters well with the Eagles (I happen to like the Eagles!). The problem is, the Eagles have opened pandora's box and now we are seeing the cancer spread on the Eagles with Sheldon Brown and Andrews complaining about their deals after watching Peters get rewarded for the same behavior!
-
....so they should have waited until May/June (or later) for the holdout to begin and the associated circus that would go with it? ...which would also further reduce the Bills leverage in a trade due to: * less interest from other teams wanting to trade for a two time houldout * the very real perception that the Bills would have to unload Peters due to the circus he is creating
-
Then maybe YOU should have offered more!! What did you have to offer...a pack of gum and $40 (guessing what you have in your pocket.... ) OBVIOUSLY any other NFL team did NOT have a better deal to offer or they would have, so I think your point is off base. If you are suggesting that the Bills should have waited it out and traded closer to the draft due to gain some perceived extra emotion causing someone to reach, well, then you are also off base. In order for this trade to happen, it was contingent on a.)Peters passing a physical and b.) Peters negotiating a new agreement with said team. Both of these items take several days to complete sufficiently and any trade is CONTINGENT on the successful completion of both items. Therefore, it must happen like it did several business days before the draft in order to work, since if it did NOT work, you can not go back and "undo" the swap of draft picks after the draft! I agree with your point that we need to move on. This was a well-timed and well negotiated trade that was the maximum amount the 31 team market of suiters would pay.

I am fairly sure that I heard on NFL Total Access (NFL Network) tonight that Detroit is negotiating with Curry's agent...and not Stafford's (yet??)! Did anyone else catch this? ..I was half asleep!

Based on what I'm observing, it appears he has more of a nose for GW's balls

When Will TO Start Complaining

Agreed! This poll is missing the key option. History says he has not been a problem for the first season...it is year 2 that the cancer starts. CHANGE THE POLL -
Get off your high horse

Its on the NFL Network crawl. Breaking News Per Vic Carucci. The wording is not clear. It says "Owens receives a 1yr contract with the Bills" ...it does not say he SIGNED a contract. ....and its on as I'm watching The Comeback

Allen Wilson - Peters not at fault on the Elam sack
Yard Monkey replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So this guy that weighs 180# more is supposed to stay with a db in a foot race. Plus you expect him to maintain a 10 yard pocket for the QB That's a good one. Oh, and while he is moving laterally and the db is not. Seriously? - -

Yard Monkey replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its about time someone mentioned this. Peters had to make sure all on the inside were blocked because that could kill the play IMMEDIATELY. He then was able to make 2-3 lateral steps, covering ~5 yards and redirect the db 8 yards behind the line. All of this in ~1.5 seconds without having the knowledge that all of us armchair QBs (after watching the replay many times) have in knowing who was pass rushing and who was not! In reality, Peters made a solid play protecting the pocket on a RISKY PLAY CALL THAT BACKFIRED. Try measuring out 5 yards and covering the ground that Peters did! I'm not sure any tackle could do much more than he did. Now JP on the other hand had no excuse. That play is susceptible to backside pressure.....if the hot read is not open immediately, you tuck and run upfield (ideal given the clock) or throw it away (would have been poor clock management in this case). Looks like he was trying to make a play for his "highlight reel" -
If Palin was a Democrat - Would she get as much sh*t

Yes. She is unfit to lead, at this point (not to say she never will be). No matter what her party is..... -
