Could Republican Leaders Make Stupid Comments Too?
bobblehead replied to Chilly's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Karl's speech seems a bit much to say in public, even for Rove. It appears to me that the administration is feeling a bit on edge. I mean, the right can say whatever they want, and they may be correct on some things, but Iraq, or "the perception of Iraq", anyway, is not going so well right now, and the adimistration is not exactly winning their battles domestically, either. If the adimistration was more comfortable with the way things are going for them today, IMO, Durban's comments would not be attacked as hard, and Rove would not be out there making statements like he did yesterday. I get the feeling that the administration is getting just a bit desparate. I know, I know, the right would say "yeah, but liberals are ......" ok, yay. I'm just saying, if the right was more confident right now, you wouldn't be getting comments from Rove like that yesterday. -
SC Rules that Local Governments can evict
bobblehead replied to Arkady Renko's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I admit that I think ultra-conservative lobbies like "Focus On The Family" are really just a bunch of hate-mongers. But, reading stuff like this, and realizing that the Gov really does not care about the family structure if the home is no longer something you can count on as being secure and dependable, makes me rethink my criticism of groups like that. I know, the homeowner is still going to get paid, but a home should be more than money. Didn't we start a Revolution over this a couple a hundred years ago? -
You'd be surprised.

I prefer being called the "Jiffy Pop" generation, thank you. Although my generation would be somewhere in between. HAHA. Actually, it has morphed into "You suck, because... well... you just suck, ok?"

Thanks for the link. There is a difference between "can't" and "don't want to", a difference that Clayton does not appear to be interested in researching. I have issues with the term "Verba's skill level" too, but anywhoo.

Yeah, now that trolls drop it regularly, I would concur.

An episode of "Arrested Development" last fall had a scene where a character played by Henry Winkler was leaving a room, saw a toy shark on the floor, and then blatently jumped over it.

Another Gitmo Perspective
bobblehead replied to Ghost of BiB's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I'm sorry, but I respectufully just don't buy the argument. Celebrities, death row inmates, child molesters, police officers who are convicted of crimes, etc. can and are isolated. I mean, ok, there goes the whole destruction of virgin ass potential that only the US penal system can offer these folks, but I really believe that we have a prison system that we already invest heavily in that can do this job without creating a place like Gitmo that is only going to succeed in both legitimizing the the liberal left and rallying the insurgency. -
Another Gitmo Perspective
bobblehead replied to Ghost of BiB's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Sorry, everyone, but I do have a problem with this. Note: If I'm wrong about any of this, please let me know Actually this is the part I have a problem with: No, I respectfully disagree. IMO, the various anal-rape wings of our finer penal institutions is exactly where I want to see these enemy combatants end up. And I think Mr. Daniels is selling the piece-of-crappedness abilities of our own home-grown murderers short. There are plenty of people in our prisons today who can murder and slice throats with the best of them. Some of these Taliban have been at Gitmo since 2002, right? If they have been there this long, then what exactly can we expect to get out of them that we have not been able to yet? We are spending a million dollars a day, what are we getting in return for it? How much intelligence are we getting out of these people after this long? Answers like "you don't need to know, just let the gov to their job" is great for talk radio and the trailer park crowd, but as a potential target of terrorism, I want to know, sorry. If they really are the killers that we claim (I'm not questioning that), then it can not be that difficult to convict these people with something and get them on thier way to getting their salad tossed at Angola, or Supermax, or wherever, right? And even if it is that difficult, why can't we just use the "Enemy Combatants" angle to throw them into a US-based max security prison? I have a hard time believing there is a "not on US soil" loophole we can't get around. Bottom line: Forget that media-frenzied torture story crap. What I want to know, at one million per day, is Gitmo as effective as any proper ass blasting pad in the US would be? I mean, anything can be loopholed, why can't we use the prisons that we have? -
Eryn is a cheap bastard, so I ain't getting it. I hear that he steals bread crumbs from pidgeons just on principle alone.

I will bet you $100 right now that this insecure troll can not go without posting again on this thread. $100 dollars, right now. I gurarantee you that he is stomping his foot right now, trying desparately to craft a comeback that includes the either the word "hot pockets" or "ding".

Hey Todd and Nodnarb, I think she looks somewhat like a certain mutual friend of ours. I'm guessing she may act like her too. Reaction? -

Is it just me, or is anyone else a bit perplexed as to why we are letting the most notorious prisoner in the world today be guarded by 19 year olds? I've seen those two guards on TV talking about Saddam calling them his "sons" and how much he likes Rasin Bran over Fruit Loops, and I'm not really feeling it with the "soft side" of Saddam Hussein. I guess what I'm saying is that I would have liked to have had some harder-core guys guarding him who are not as keen on getting dating advice from him.

IMO, the problem is not with the media's fixation on this, but rather the direction they are taking. Focusing on so called "torture" is pointless, and rather insulting. Instead, why is the media not asking the right questions here, like.. are we getting anything of substance out of these prisoners with the setup we have? Is holding them at Gitmo in the manner that we are actually producing results that can help us? Should I just be happy that these people are locked up or should I be getting more out of this? Get off this "torture" angle and find out if this current detention setup is actually working?

Sorry, but he lost me when he said this. What's this about, again?

Nothing personal, just calling it as I see it. I fully expect a righteous, high-ground response attempting to shame me for my short-sightedness. The use of Hot Pockets may be brought up as an angle.

Based on what I have seen here, this man's opinion is that all Pats and Sox fans are at worst paranoid and at best not comfortable with their self-esteem. I'm quite content on basing my opinion solely on the Boston-ish contributors at TBD. Please refer to me as an idiot in the future, as well. Thanks.
