I'm not entirely sure that Travis Henry would have been able to replace Willis' production, either. I see your point, but it would have been the same situation with Henry, IMO

There is something to be said for any hockey uniform that has the words "professional hockey" in the logo. That's retro cool. "Alaska" on the neck is a nice touch, too. You can have the mountain border. The mountains look, should I say, too good. Like a photo. I don't believe in uniforms that have photos on them. Molly Hatchet T-shirts maybe, but hockey uniforms, nah. Which brings up the Sabres look. There was nothing wrong with the blue and gold, why fix what was not broken? Did the short-term marketing profit justify it (not that I know the answer, jus askin)?

NHL is now a level playing field,

With the more marquee players being able to spend 6-9 mil more than Buffalo, that probably means they will be able to get that one superstar that Buffalo will not be able to. Not the best situation, but far, far better then the handful of teams gobbling up everyone. No more situations like Kariya/Selanne going as a tandem to Colorado. -
Mort Says TH Deal Maybe Today

I recall a couple of people thinking we should offer a Henry and a draft pick in order to get someone to take him. -
Or the one that wanted a threesome after you had just spent the night at a strip club?

anyone see mythbusters last nite?
bobblehead replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I especially liked the episode where they tested out the myth that you could kill a man with a playing card. The card launcher he made out of a powered drill was nice. Similar in mechanics to a baseball pitching machine, just in miniature and sitting on top of a power drill. If you know a good tool and die guy that you can grease with a case of beer or some cash, you can have him cobble one up to place on top of a Black and Decker Cordless drill. Sweet. -
I'm trying to figure out, at the top of my head, what would make that game a 'classic'. It was the year after the 2000 yd season, Buffalo's record v. Miami in the '70's was pretty suck-ass, I'm guessing Miami must have pile-drived us right big, enough to warrant 'classic' status.

Wow, like magic. Takes me way back. You hit that one out of the park, good sir. But then again, you are smart folk, from smart stock. His and hers, too. Yay, I can mack with those.

Sup y'all. So, when I was a kid, our town had this "innertube regatta", which was really a Pabst Blue Ribbon festival in disguised as a welfare boat race. That's just the backdrop here though, as the one thing I remember the most about the regatta was that the locals used to run around the place wearing these crocheted (sp?) bucket hats that, all around the brim, were these cut-out tin can sides of Pabst Blue Ribbon cans crocheted into the bucket hat. That sh-- was hot. I need to e-bay up one of those. I know, doesn't have jack to do with Labatts' glasses, but the thread got me thinking about beer, so here you go.

Thanks for that post. The 'base' can cover Rove all they want ( as evidenced by some of the posts here) and they have a right to. Rove won them two elections, I guess he gets a lifetime pass for that. Maybe he should. Sure, I get it. Plame was "uncovered" years ago, she was a desk jockey, Wilson may have been incompetent, Rove may not have implicated her directly, and yes, we only know part of the story. I know there are some deep turf wars involving the State Dept, the FBI, the CIA and the White House now. I know that Chalabi's home was raided in Iraq earlier over one of these 'turf wars', I get that too. But the real problem here is with integrity, honesty and security, although at the end of the day, that means nothing to the extreme wings of both parties. Regardless of what Rove actually said or not said, he got into this situation in the first place. He had a beef with someone so he went after his wife, the far-right can defend him all they want (and they have reasons to) but nothing says 'low-life kitty' more than a guy going after an enemy's wife. Ok, this woman may or may not have had the most sensitive job at the CIA, but she worked for the CIA nonetheless. For Rove to be working for the very people we are trusting to take care of business overseas and to protect us, f-ing with the CIA sure makes me question how sincere he really is about protecting us. I really have to wonder if politics does come before security with the White House.

If you want both of these statements tonight, you might want to drop the questions bit.

Like I said, It's the Olympics, you just never know with the IOC. Also, supposedly someone from the IOC or some affiliated federation made a remark that Rugby sevens was "a joke", which did not help. That statement was a joke, if Rugby was in the Olympics, it would instantly be one of the most watched sports of the tournament. The Rugby World Cup is one of the world's most watched sporting events, behind the FIFA World Cup, the Superbowl and, the Olympics, actually. IMO, there was some kind of conspiracy/backlash thing going on with London getting the games as to why sevens did not get the votes.
-
The reasons given (if they REALLY were the reasons, and with the Olympics, you just never know) make it understandable: 1) The drug controversy 2) MLB'ers do not participate. If you ask me, what was really upsetting was that there were other sports being considered, among them golf and rugby, but they were turned down as well. How cool would golf have been? How cooler would rugby have been?

The only problem I had ( and it's a pretty nitpicky problem) is that I did not get a good feel for what kind of an explosion a bomb like that makes. I only got a flash of light, and then fire service crews trying to contain a city block afterward. I always had a question on what the explosive power a bomb like that would look like, and I still do. And yes, I know it's alot to ask of a movie about something that has not happened in the world yet. So I can't be too critical of it.

It lacked the hollywood sensationalism and the relaxation in technical detail that you usually get. Not that I'm an expert, but it sure seemed true to reality..

I'll have to look to see if HBO will be showing "Dirty War" again anytime soon. I saw it a couple of weeks ago.. Good movie, but THAT would be insensitive.

Bills want a conditional 2nd for Travis
bobblehead replied to MadBuffaloDisease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would cut the 1st/pro bowl option out of it, but the rest sounds reasonable. It's funny to think that I read on this board a while back that someone thought we should give up a draft pick as well just so someone would take Henry from us. -
LONDON IS UNDER ATTACK
bobblehead replied to nick in* england's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Hey Nick, if you don't mind, what have you been hearing on what really happened? I'm getting alot of conflicting stories: 3 bombs, 4 bombs, 6 bombs, a power surge, one was a suicide bomber.. Have you heard anything more concrete?
