I was in Detroit earlier this summer, and had the opportunity to listen to AM sports talk there. I was told that if Detroit picked up Ty Law, they would become serious Super Bowl contenders.

If you don't mind, what were some of her talking points? I saw a teaser on CNN Monday that after the break that was coming up, they were going to interview Celine Dion. She was flipping the !@#$ out over something. I imagine the whole world would be coming to a halt to attend to her misfortunes, but alas, I had to go walk my dog so I didn't see the interview. In hindsight, I should have been more ambivalent to my dog's needs and stuck around to hear it. If it made it on Stern, then it must have been worth it, for they have alot to pick and choose from now. I am curious in a car-wreck sort of way.

Actually, we are on Tropical Depression #16, which would be called Ophelia if it grows. It could threaten the Florida Peninsula. Lee died out somewhere last week, Maria and Nate are out in the Atlantic now, and shouldnot threaten the U.S. Coast.

Actually, I finally got a chance to watch a tape of the game yesterday, after reading on the board how much JP sucked Friday night, and couldn't figure out afterward what everyone was talking about. JP lobbed one for an interception, threw another hospital pass at someone, and brought one down and ran it at the end of the half when it was apparant the coaches wanted a bomb thrown there. Other than that, I thought he looked pretty decent. Threw hard, threw to the right people, threw it away from the defenders. If fact, I would say he worked hard on staying in the pocket, and got his ass kicked for it a few times, thanks O-line! But that's part of learning the patience needed for that.

From what I understand, a team can only wear a "special", "throwback" uniform twice a season. Any more and the league would consider it an alternate uniform, and you would need league approval, a year in advance, and there are rules as to how often you need to wear them. I do not know if the Bills went through any of those procedures, or if they plan on doing that. My belief is that public opinion will decide that. Also, from what I understand, an alternate uniform, approved by the league as such, would also have to abide by rules on size and clarity of numbering, location of side numbering, size and clarity of names on the back, consistency with the main uniforms, and I'm not sure whether or whether not the throwbacks conform to those rules now.

Actually, it appeared that Anderson and his crew were helping people sift through damage for personal belongings, and they were passing names along of people they ran into to connect people down there. Maybe or maybe not it was for show, but it's better than nothing.

Not verbatum, but that was the jist. A Senator speaking out her ass, a dead woman, a curb, 48 hours and rats were all involved.

Watching him light up that Senator was interesting. " Excuse me, but I'm hearing you thanking these politicians for their help, yet behind me is a dead elderly woman who has been rotting on this street curb for 48 hours now because no one has showed up here, rats are eating her now."
