  1. But you should remember, Under God was added to the pledge in 1954. It isn't exactly steeped in tradition and apparently the Pledge was OK to change then. As for the Mounties, it's a freakin' HAT. Turban, Cowboy hat, Beret, does it really matter?
  2. It was wrong and stupid to add that phrase, IMO. But it is also stupid to spend the time/money/attention to remove it. Let's just move on.
  3. Me too, but Dark Side of the Moon is the best overall, IMO. I really don't like The Wall much at all, although Comfortably Numb is terrific, and there are a few decent songs. Another Brick in the Wall is horrendous enough to disqualify that as the best album, though. Maybe if they had gassed the kids before recording it wouldn't grate on me so much. BTW, kudos to the big Pink for winning their lawsuit against EMI: http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking-news/c...?nclick_check=1
  4. There is a hot dog place in St Augustine that makes a pretty average dog...but great fresh cut fries. Anyway, they offer something that is pretty much a Whistle Pig: dog, melted cheese and bacon. Even though the dog is average it tasted like Niagara Falls. Had one the other day.
  5. What a horrible idea. I can't believe Pam Moore is still at KRON. I used to work with her there in the early 90's. Looks like she has aged pretty well, too.
  6. Excellent call, Joe. Hope you get it and love it.
  7. That's OK, I'm rarely the most popular person in the room. Wash it all down with a cold beer or a nice glass of red wine. I may get one of those today, if I think I can take the salt intake.
  8. FYI, and only because it seems to matter to Joe, I believe ESP guitars are made in Asia, at least many of them are. I'm not really sure why that would matter, if the product was quality, but for some it does. Some very good instruments are made in Japan and Korea, IMO.
  9. The contenders: A great beef on weck (maybe one from Schwabls) A double steak and cheese from Viola's in Niagara Falls (preferably Elmwood Ave location) A pulled pork sandwich from any great BBQ restaurant in Memphis A nice chunk of a very crusty Italian baguette or crusty roll, hot capicola, a few paper thin pieces of prosciutto, good salami (the spicy Sicilian from Latino is terrific) and sharp imported provolone cheese (not that round bland deli crap, but real provolone). That's it. Dry. No condiments needed.
  10. While it is right to give Magic some credit for Worthy's success in the NBA, I think Dean Smith was the biggest factor in making Worthy and Jordan the great players they became. Don't believe me? Ask them.
  11. Watching the game streaming. Go to: http://www.channelsurfing.net/ Scroll down and click on the Sabres/Dallas game. It is on Justin TV. Nice feed right now.
  12. Not yet, apparently. But as much as I dislike invasions of privacy for reasons that have more to do with politics than safety, what's the real concern about a quick snapshot of a nameless body going through security? As long as the records are not kept/disseminated/identified, who gives a crap...IF it actually makes a difference for security.
  13. Yins goin out tonight? Seriously, I like Pittsburgh a lot. Great town.
  14. For a player as well known as Tebow, who will be interviewed and researched to death, the Wonderlic is meaningless. It MAY have SOME value for later round players who the scouts and coaches have not been able to thoroughly vet.
  15. Agreed. Although I might phrase it, "This woman is offensive to people everywhere." But, hey, that's me. She really does suck. And so does the show.
  16. Let me be clear, I much prefer Duffs and they won. But the testing was a bad joke for the reasons you note and more. My favorite: ONE wing? Really? If they were comparing steaks would they get one bite of each steak? Just stupid.
  17. Also turn down the Cornball and Cliche knobs. Total amateur hour.
  18. Wow, this show is horrible.
  19. Yes, from what I hear the PRS guitars are very nice. If you are looking at spending that kind of dough as an investment (and to play a great guitar, of course) there are others to consider, too. If I'm not mistaken, the Custom runs near or above $3 K. If that's the case, you may want to check out the Sadowsky line. Sadowsky is a first-rate luthier:
  20. Indeed. Outstanding language!
  21. So, if good waitresses and bartenders should get better jobs who would do the serving work? The least competent people with no other options? Sure, that's where I want to go eat and drink. A place where the people who work there are only there because they can't get something better. Even McDonalds pays minimum wage or better.
  22. The bar deserves to be busted for this.
  23. No, what I'm saying is, Italians call Sicilians "Africans" or, even cruder, the N word (or the Italian equivalent). Growing up, my father would see The Supremes (for example) on TV and call out, "Josephine, come in here. There are Sicilians on TV." Needless to say, my mother is Sicilian. It was all in good fun, of course. Did you not see the famous scene from True Romance? Also, many Sicilians (like me, for instance) have Thalassemia. An inherited anemia closely related to Sickle Cell Anemia, which of course affects Africans.
  24. Are you suggesting fans of Pro Wrestling are too intelligent or too discriminating to find something like this interesting?
