  1. According to ESPN.com insider: • We hear that Bills CB Nate Clements, due to be an unrestricted free agent following the season, has not boosted his market value so far this season. He wants to be paid as a top cover corner but has just one interception this year. Whispers
  2. People who make statements like that should be shot.
  3. Ok first off, its not a sport, nobody has claimed it to be a sport since 1952!!! The drug testing is not meant to "level the playing field" and I am so f'ing sick of non-wrestling fans who say stuff like that. Its entertainment, has been always will be and everyone knows that so statements like that just mean that you dont know what you are talking about. If you read the story, you would have seen this quote "Although wrestling is entertainment, some experts say a grueling number of matches, high acrobatics and expectations placed on wrestlers contributes to the use of steroids and painkillers." Secondly, the drug testing proposed by Vince McMahon is in response to the death of Edde Gurerro, not to mention the deaths of so many others which may or may not have been the result of drug use. Rick Rude, Curt Henning, Ray Traylor, Davey Boy Smith, Chris Candido, etc. the list is too long and too unfortunate to mention. I truly believe that this is an honest effort by Vince to keep the business going, everything he does is to keep the business going and he wouldnt even consider it if it would endanger the WWE. I am saying this as someone who has been a fan for years, but I walked away a few years ago aftr being disgusted at some instances like Vince going nuts on "Real Sports." I know that these actions were asimply done in an effort to protect the business from those who don't know what they are talking about!! I love the business of wrestling, if you don't get it, then fine, don't watch it and don't comment on it. So as the Rock would say, if you don't know sports-entertainment/wrestling THEN KNOW YOUR ROLE AND SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!!!!!!
  4. Yea, I'm not quite sure thats what he meant, that play was with 5 seconds left on the clock. That sounds more like a Obi-Wan Kenobi quote rather than Norv turner
  5. Quote of the century: "The Big Picture: Come in off the ledge. It's only a game. " enough said, lets all take a step back and look at the big picture.
  6. THAT IS THE TRUEST STATEMENT I HAVE HEARD ALL YEAR!! No sense in beating around the bush, we will be 5-11 this year, and have a top ten pick. vets will be gone, maybe even some coaches and GMs? nough said!!
  7. Fantastic guys, thank you for the suggestions!! I do have to say that I own a few Collins albums, I always thought he was a tremendous songwriter and overall wonderful musician. I know quite a bit of Gabriel's solo stuff, which I am assuming is very different from his Genesis work. The one Genesis Live album I own is "The Way we walk" both volumes. Vo. 2 has longer versions, nd it does feature a few early work from the band, so hopefully knoing that I enjoy that CD, I will enjoy the rest of the early genesis work.
  8. The article says the same thing most people hgave been saying, and reinforces a good point. When that draft happened, the overall consensus was that the Bills were going to pick either McKinnie or Williams, the Williams pick wasn't hailed, but it was a general consensus of agreement of being a good pick, from fans, reporters and draft experts alike. From what i remember was that TD sais the Bills didnt like McKinnie's attitude, and dont forget that he held out for more than half of the regular seaosn before signing with the Vikings that year. Hindsight being 20-20, yes we could have gone with Roy Williams maybe, but hey thats the draft, the williams pick wasnt lambasted at the time.
  9. A Genesis-Frasier connection, who would have ever thought?!
  10. I've actally been reading a lot about Genesis lately. I got into the band in their later years, sicne I'm only 28 thats the era I know of them. I'm looking for some old Genesis CDs to buy, can you guys recomend any? Should I get a best of a box set, or go out and buy individual albums?
  11. OK, according to wikipedia's article on scientology, they are mainly opposed to psychiatric medication. I wouldnt be surprised though if they are weary of all forms of medication. Just from what I've heard them say, about medication just hding the problem and not fixing it, I would think that kind of mentality would make it hard to draw the line somewhere. Scientology Criticism
  12. Thats all well and good, but we don't know if that is going to be the case. Look at the last few years of free agency, who was actually available at the positions we needed? DT, OL mainly. There haven't been that many, TD did the best he could with what was available and the salary cap room he had by signing Villareal gandy and anderson. gandy has been suitable, but not outstanding, the guards, well anderson isnt much but villareal(sp), has been solid. If we let go of Moulds, williams clements and adams, we have to expect that this team goes young by drafting OL and DL. Hopefully someone like thomas greer or king can step in at CB r maybe find a somewhat suitable replacement in free agency, but again, who's available? I've heard quite a few "experts" say this, but I think it holds true, good teams are built in the middle of the field. QB, FB, HB, OL, DL, MLB and SS. We have 5 of those positions now, but we need the DL and OL to be reinforced. we know that though.
  13. I really wish I had the capability to watch Sabres games, but for several reasons I can't. One is that I live out west and the games come on early, two, of fourse is that they are not on TV out here so thats a moot point. I have considered ordering the NHL center ICE package, but looking at the schedule it appears that they dont actually show every game for every team.
  14. I dont know how many other wrestling fans we have on TBD, but WWE.com just announced today that Saturday Night's main Event will make it's long awaited return to NBC this March. I think this is fantastic for the WWE since it will be their first time on one of the 4 major networks in over 10 years, they aired a Wrestlemania special in late 1995 and UPN is not considered a major network. What was always cool about SNME was that it featured PPV calibur matches at a time when the then WWF only has 4 PPV events a year, Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble. I'm wondering if having pay per view type matches on Saturday Night, which will probably only air 3-5 times a year, mostly when SNL is off for the week, will this take away from the PPV buy rates? Any thoughts? SNME Returns!
  15. who and what?
  16. Cruise Slammed for Sonogram Machine Purchase Tom Cruise has been slammed for buying a sonogram machine for his pregnant fiancee Katie Holmes, with health experts warning that he's putting his unborn child at risk. Officials at the American College of Radiology (ACR) are highly concerned by Cruise's revelation that he purchased the device to track his child's progress, and they're warning him that he could be breaking the law if he's carrying out the scans himself. Dr. Carol M. Rumack, of the ACR Ultrasound Commission, says, "This is a patient safety issue. Untrained people, even if they have the financial means, should not buy, or be allowed to buy and operate, ultrasound machines which are, in fact, medical devices and should not be used without a medical indication. Images of the fetus are an opportunity to diagnose problems before birth that may require treatment. These images should be obtained by certified technologists under the supervision of physicians properly trained in ultrasound... The ACR is concerned that Tom Cruise has been badly advised regarding the use and potential abuse of ultrasound. There are many abnormalities that may be missed by the untrained eye. Also, if it is not medically necessary, the use of ultrasound raises unnecessary physical risk to the fetus." I'm wondering if being a scientologist prevents him from going to hospitals since they are against using any kind of medication. Of course we all know that when the baby is born he/she will be taken away to the planet Xarkon VII and be indocrinated in the ways of the international scientologists association.
  17. I'm glad someone else remembers this besides me. This was not written by an Australian dentist but by an actual American, an it was written by him shortly after the 9/11 attacks. Still an interested piece of writing.
  18. I just read this, absolutely awesome. I know that the rock hall isnt much, buts its nice to know they are finally coming around and inducting those they have missed over the past few years, Sabbath, Skynyrd, Sex Pistols, its ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!
  19. If you look at the stats of the 3 WRs up for the hall this year, I don't think there's any question who should be going in first. These are the PER SEASON averages for each player. Monk and Reed played 16 years, Irvin played 12. Rec Yards TD Irvin 62 992 5 Monk 59 795 4 Reed 59 824 5 Also their per catch average, Irvin 15.9, Reed 13.9 and Monk 13.5. I love Andre, and think he should get in, Monk was the all time leader in catches for a minute, but tier stats while nice don't compare to Irvin. Nt to mention that Irvin was THE PLAYMAKER in his day. Besides Rice, Irvin was the most feared WR in the NFL for many years in the 1990s. His sats arent far and away beyond the other 2, but if he played a few more years he would have passed them even on the all-time lists.
  20. Garry Shandling show, btoom line, best them ever!!
  21. leaving soon, hopefully.
  22. Here's what I think the big debate should be about, do stats matter or not? I check this on the HOF website a fe times during the season, if you haven't ever been there its nice to look at during the regular season because they update the top 20 all-time leaders every week. There's constant changes in some of the categories, mainly passing and receiving. I've noticed quite a few people making an argument for stats for guys like Andre Reed and Thurman Thomas, and rightfully so. When you look at the top 20 lists as they currently stand though, I don't think stats are worth a piece of cow dung! Example: Among the top 20 passers in league history(Minimum 1500 attempts) KURT WARNER, DAUNTE CULPEPPER, TOM BRADY, TRENT GREEN, JEFF GARCIA, DREW BREES, BRIAN GRIESE, MATT HASSELBECK, MARK BRUNELL and Brad Johnson. Not exactly what I would call the greatest group of QBs to come out in the last 30 years. Obviously the passer rating system heavily favors the last 15 years of pro football. Brady is of course still very young and has some years left, will be sonsidered for the hall of course because of his rings, the only one of this group I would call HOF caliber, but he's young. You could make an argument for Green, Brunell and maybe Johnson but thats stretching it with the last one. Warner is at the top of this list mainly because of 3 seasons, but it is a minimum 1500 attempts. Conversely, looking at the top receivers of all time(number of receptions): The top ten includes: Andre Reed, Art Monk, Irving Fryar, Henry Ellard, Michael Irvin and Andre Rison. Of all of those, only Irvin is considered by many to a favorite to be voted to the Hall this year. Ellard and Monk have been eligible for years now, and Reed is among the top ten all time in receptions, yards and TDs. Go figure. There alot ho make the argument for stats being a case for the hall, like for Monk and Reed, and I would say its a fair argument. Would you say that guys like Ellard, Irvin, and Fryar should be considred over a guy like Irvin? How about a guy like Testaverder who has 40,000 yards. I would say season averages should play a large part on a decision. If a guy has a short career but excelled in that short time period, ala gale Sayers or Terrell Davis or Irvin, the career stats don' matter. Just a topic for debate, anyone care to throw in their 2 cents?
  23. Its obvious that this is a response to the death of Eddie Guerrero. There have been numerous times in the past where McMahon has stated it isn't his business to test employees of his company beause its not a real sport. He compared it to circus performers being tested for steroids. I like wrestling, and hope this will take an effect, but its unlikely.
  24. I was hoping the History channel would have some specials on regarding the anniversary, nothing listed though. 2 years ago it was JFK all day for the 40th anniversary.
