Who are the active "elite" QB's?
LiterateStylish replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not a bum. Elite. But you can't focus only on Super Bowls and not take into account that he is 0-2 since being caught spying. Like it or not. Facts are facts. -
Trade for Kirk Cousins
LiterateStylish replied to LiterateStylish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You sure? Pro Football Focus said his value is a 1st round pick right now and Washington is going to listen to offers this off-season. But maybe you're an NFL insider and you know better Probably not. Because they take the chance of his value dropping. Not something any GM is willing to do. The rumor is theyre willing to listen to offers this off-season. If they get offered a 1st or 2nd rounder, he's gone. Cat got your tongue? Guess you couldn't come up with anything but the trade deadline passing. -
Trade for Kirk Cousins
LiterateStylish replied to LiterateStylish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Completely disagree. A 1st or 2nd round pick is 10x more valuable than a "safety net" who plays 20 snaps a year. And considering he only has 2 seasons left until a new contract, makes it even more likely to trade him. Or do you actually think he will stay with Washington as a backup in 2 years? This isn't Madden right? Only in Madden do backup QB's get traded. LOL. Poor kid. -

Feel free to explain. The trade deadline has passed. We have moved on. Do you have another point? I just googled it and it looks like a lot of people have. There is a couple national articles on it as well. -

Trade for Kirk Cousins

This isn't Madden 2013 because I want to trade for a backup QB with potential? I would understand if I said to trade for Calvin Johnson. But your comment makes no sense considering what I actually did say. -

Duh. Oops. Ok - in the off-season. -
And i'm not kidding. I know many of you are excited about drafting a franchise QB and I'm not the guy who jumps on any bandwagon player who played well for a week. In fact, I made a very similar post about Cousins on another message board in August after seeing Cousins play a few games. But this guy has it. He will be a good NFL QB. Send a 1st or 2nd round pick to Washington, let Cousins start the last 3 games in Buffalo, and then roll him into next year as your franchise QB. Ideally, I wouldn't want to give up a 1st or 2nd round pick for a QB that we could have drafted in the 3rd round either. But the fact of the matter is that some team is going to unload their pockets for Cousins either this off-season or next. I'd rather it be us. Facing one of the best defenses in the NFL, Cousins stepped into the game down by a TD and without taking a single snap in weeks. His first pass hit his target with pinpoint accuracy for 15 yards. His second pass nailed a covered Garcon for an 11 yard Touchdown. The very next play he completes the two point conversion. When Griffin went down against the Bears, Cousins stepped in and tossed a beautiful 75 yard TD to Santana Moss. Once again, cold off the bench, without taking a snap in weeks. In the pre-season, he torched Chicago for 270 yards and 3 TD's. This is not a strong QB draft. There are a bunch of boom or bust QB's - we can't take that risk. It's been over a decade. Let the Jacksonville's and Chiefs of the world draft a QB every couple of years crossing their fingers and hoping for the best. A film junkie who played in a Pro offense in college and rarely takes a sack? A proven winner from a power conference? Yes please. Get him on the next plane. Edited: Forgot about trade deadline. Thanks Numark.

QB is our #1 priority. HC is #2 WR is #3 We do really need a WR that can stretch the field. A big guy. Like Andre Johnson a few years ago or AJ Green or Calvin Johnson. That little Roscoe Parrish wanna be is not scaring anybody.

LiterateStylish replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not. I'm simply saying if you ARE going to just look at Super Bowls then you should take time frame into that equation. Brady winning a SB almost a decade ago is not an indicator of elite status. -
Bill Polian on what it takes to win
LiterateStylish replied to LiterateStylish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So I see you're the local gestapo. The man with a little internet power and becomes absorbed by it. You have no control in your life, so you try to control people on a message board. I've been there. It's no good. It's actually a little sick. I wouldn't be surprised if you banned me for calling you out, because thats what people who have that sort of personality do. I was the Administrator at the Range for many years. Had many of your same tendencies. Deleting posts. Editing posts. Giving out infractions for the minor things. Seek help man. It's honestly no good, and its lead to nowhere but a sad ending. Cya around. -

Or you can look at it as... Rings in the past 5 years Eli - 2 Big Ben - 1 P Manning - 1 Brady - 0 This is a league of "what have you done for me lately". If Brady is Elite because he last won a Superbowl almost a DECADE ago, then you should at least look at recent history. I don't buy either oft those theories though. Elite is not based on Super Bowl success. I don't think anyone in their right mind would say Marino was not elite because he didn't win a Super Bowl. It's just silly. -

Exception to the rule. There are those who have gotten in accidents going 100mph and lived. How good do you think your chances are if that were to happen? You have to take that up with Polian. This has nothing to do with one game. Or even two. This has to do with Fitzpatrick as a QB. He is category two all of thew ay. -
Bill Polian on what it takes to win
LiterateStylish replied to LiterateStylish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not a leap at all. I understand why you would think it would be though. The ignorant fan thinks that there are varying degrees to an NFL QB. But there is not. There are two types of QBs: 1 - Those who have the talent and ability to be able to win a Super Bowl 2 - Those who don't. Those who fall into group 2 suck. There is no point in them starting in the NFL because they give you zero hope. It is impossible to win a SB with them. There is no in-between. Fitzpatrick falls into Group 2. PS, my very first sentence in the post admits that he didn't say that. Your brain? -
Ok, he didn't say that. But he might as well have. In a recent ESPN article, Polian listed the 3 things a team can't have and expect to go to a Super Bowl. 1) A game manager at QB (most important) 2) A defense that can't get off the field on third down. 3) A pedestrian RB. In other words, having a game manager at QB is like spinning your wheels. Its useless. Every season you have one, you're wasting a year. Translation: having Fitzpatrick at QB is like spinning your wheels. Having Fitzpatrick as the starting QB is like wasting a season. The Bills need to spend the off-season getting a franchise QB. Whether they need to trade all of their draft picks away, or Mario Williams, or Jairus Byrd, or Kyle Williams or whoever. I don't care and they shouldn't either. It is much easier to replace a DT or Safety or DE than it is to replace a franchise QB. As of now, the Bills number one reason for existence should be to find a franchise QB. THEN worry about your other pieces. This has gone on way too long. The "other" way has not worked. Whats the definition of insanity again Einstein?

JJ Watt is amazing and tearing Rodgers up

First of all you would have to know a little about the game. Or ya know, know what youre talking about. Having half of your sacks be garbage time sacks isnt exactly a huge accomplishment. -

Watt is a good player, but there is something about DE's that feast on 4th quarter passing situation sacks that really kinda drive me nutty. Of Watt's 7 sacks, 4 came in the 4th quarter when the Texans were up by 10 or more points and the opposing team was throwing the ball like crazy to come back. 1 sack and 1 fumble came in the 4th quarter against Tennessee when the Texans were up 35-0 1 sack came in the 4th quarter against Jacksonville when the Texans were up 24-7 1.5 sack came in the 4th quarter against Denver when the Texans were up 31-18 1 sack came in the 4th quarter against the Jets when the Texans were up 23-10 Does that mean he isn't a good player? No. But I mean, perspective.
