What in the world would make you think that TH could mentally handle the Colts offensive system?

Roger Waters leaving Pink Floyd. I love all that is Floyd, even "Momentary Lapse of Reason," and "The Division Bell," but it is not the same.

Yikes - A Conceptual drawing of the project was in the Buffalo News. That is the "death nail" of any proposed project in Buffalo. This is dead in the water, so to speak.

Would it be paid? I did a work-exchange program called BUNAC. They have an office in London where American students go to find job postings. If I saw a posting for "Football coach" I would have been ecstatic! These students expect to be paid like crap because they are coming for the experience of living in the UK. Just an idea.

I know a producer for ESPN who told me that McGuire HATES Thiesman, but Thiesman has no idea because he is stupid and an egomaniac (how could anyone hate me?).

It was floyd's first albulm, in a proper sense. They did release four singles prior to Piper, "Arnold Layne" being the first in 1967. Piper was released later in 1967. madcap laughs was Barrett's solo albulm

Absolutly! I am biased because they are my favorite band and I have read way too much about them. But it was creative and inspired a whole new genre. Syd Barrett inspired HEndrix's guitar playing when Floyd and he were on tour in England. This was at the start of Hendrix's career.

The Ralph Speakers at the Sunday's game

That is a great description - it sounded just like an airplane. The piped in noise was definitly intended to supplement the fans' noise. There must be a league rule against this. -
Gold: Friday Night Lights - Great Book! and the movie is also very good. Silver: Remember the Titans Bronze: Brian's Song

#25 was hard. I finally beat it.

Yes, that is what I meant. Sorry for not being more clear (or clearer?). I am sure he was a great actor - but they always have to put "fluff" in the headlines. Are they afraid that they will make everyone too sad?

Which CNN Headline story seems out of place? I hate corporate news! MORE NEWS • Powell: U.S. pledges long-term Tsunami aid • Echoes of 9/11 in hunt for loved ones | Video • Thousands of Americans missing | Video • Web offers worried relatives helping hand • Indians return after new tsunami alert | Video • NBC: Show to go on without Orbach

you had better not be joking. PLEASE let it be true! -
again, the sensativity on this board is astounding. First, the 22,000 body count will be conservative compared to the numbers in a few weeks after the debris is cleared, the missing are accounted for, and disease takes hold. Also, about U.S. aid - conservatives always say that "we give more than anyone, they should appreciate it!" well, for the largest economy in the history of the world, as a percentage we give crap! Also, contributing to the disaster in Asia as a result of the Tsunami is in our economic and security interest. It would be strategic to give and help as much as we can in an area where Al Qaeda and others are operating. It would complicate thier anti-U.S. messege by mass devotion of resources, both to this disaster. I am not sure I have seen a disaster like this in my lifetime.

OT: Lawyers and Law School Grads, Regrets?
slothrop replied to Arkady Renko's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The answer is yes. My firm is representing a guy who's life is ruined (I won't go into why). After the incident that caused his injury he hired one of the biggest and best plaintiff firms in the country. They screwed up the case by not suing two parties. He fired them and hired us, but the statute of limitations had run on his claim so we could not bring in the other parties. Now, the only defendant has an affirmative defense availible that would not otherwise be availble. Our client will certainly be pursuing a malpractice claim against his previous firm. -

First, Con Law is a tough "area" to practice in. ONe reason is that every area of the law is onformed by our Constitution. Others may debate this point but if she wants to focus on con law then she is better suited being a criminal defense attorney or working for a non-profit like the Center for Constitutional Rights, or the ACLU (though most of their attornyies volunteer thier time). Also, if she wants to work in a large "prestigous firm" in NYC she will stand a better chance of getting one of those jobs if she goes to a top 10 school - however she can get those jobs if she goes to UB (for example) and does very well (summa cum laude, law review, moot court board, etc). She will just have to seperate herself from "the pack" more. I went to UB knowing that I would be doing public interest work or not practicing at all (I did not practice for 3yrs after law school). UB is ranked as one of the top "public interest" law schools in the country. So if this is what she would like to do, UB would be great for her. THe connections I was able to build through the school is incredible. Tell her good luck. -

First, ditto to everything you said. I am a trial lawyer and do it because I want to help people and create systemic change. Also, the Defendant's damages argument in the McDonald's case is another unknown fact about that case, which further supports your statement that large jury awards are "almost invariably the result of outrage felt by the jury for the behavior of the defendant." There McDonald's argued that the damages should be limited because the most severe burns (which were VERY severe) were to an elderly woman's genitals, and what would an old woman need her genitals for? I would venture a bet that many in the jury box wanted to punch that lawyer right there and then. -

I did not practice law after law school. Rather, I was motivated by my conscience and politics to do community organizing for three years. I figured that if I did not do it then, I could not go back and do it again. I took the Bar Exam three years removed from law school (I do not advise you to do that) and am now practicing. BEcause of my choice not to practice law and the experiences I accumulated as a grassroots activist I can relate to people outside the legal community, build relationships, and extend the meaning of my practice beyond traditional bounds. You will find that the legal community is insular. Lawyers have a difficult time interating with nonlawyers. Any experience you can accumulate that brings perspective and meaning to your practice of law makes you that much better of a lawyer. Also, I may not practice law for the rest of my life (in fact it is likely that I won't) but law school teaches you skills that can cross-over into almost any profession. It may be the only post-graduate degree that is this flexible. By the way, as oppossed to a prior post, let me assure you that law school sucks! LOL! Imagine high-school and multiply that by 1000. I hated the people in law school and the catty politics of lawschool. But it was only three years -three dreadful years. I did very well and hated every second of it.
