There is a procedure where they go in with a wire or tube and "burn" the tissue that is bulging. Is that what youa re refering to? From what I understand that is appropriate for bulges but not serious herniations. There is also a new synthetic disc replacement. There are only approximately 13 doctors in the country who do it, one of them is in Buffalo. However, because it is so new insurance carriers are not covering it (especially Comp or no-fault carriers). When the cost is scheduled and comes down it will be more widely availible. I have heard good things about it.

I am an attorney who has many clients who have fusions. First, and most importantly, make sure the surgeon you are seeing is good! this is a surgury you do not want messed up (if there are any that you do want messed up). Second, a doctor I respect explained the procedure to me in laymans terms. There are many "walking wounded" out there in the world with bulges and herniations. These people should not have fusions. Fusions should only be used on those who's pain is an "F" on an "A-F" scale. The fusion will not cure the problem, rather it will get those who are an "F" up to a "C" and allow them to be a member of the "walking wounded" club and may need life-long pain management. Third, similar to my second point, fusions should only be done on very serious cases because the disc levels above the fusion will deteriorate and the fusion may have to be extended. This happens because the fusion causes more stress to be put on the level above. If a person with a fusion is involved in another accident they are more vulnerable because their spine is less flexible.

OK COmputer is great in all respects - it is inivative musically and it caputred a moment of time thematically. However, the year it was up for a Grammy it placed second to Bob Dylans "Time OUt of Mind" (which is a very good albulm). I think Radiohead is one of th emost inovative bands of the last 25 years. They are analyzing their music in traditional music schools (so says my 15 year old cousin). -
Do you work with Citizen action? That is a great organization! As an activist I have worked with them many times. I am not normally involved in enviromental justice issues but I am getting involved with Citizens Enviromental Coalition concerning the high amounts of benzene (among others) emitions found in air samples in North BUffalo and Tonowanda.

There are different classifications of Superfund sites. THe list you are refering to are what are called "national priority" sites. For example, on the list I provided is the East Ferry site, which is right across from True Bethel Baptist Church. There is a sign (a very small one) on the fence marking it as a superfund site. In that neighborhood the Lupus rates have skyrocketed. What is clear, no matter how we parse it out, Buffalo is a very dirty and polluted city.

There are many more than TWO superfund sites in Buffalo. Here is a list found on the EPA's web site: 159 Porter Ave 175 Porter Street 240 Kensington Site 858 Ferry Street Alltiff Landfill Site Buffaloforge Cold Springs Neighborhood Site Fourth Street Franczyk Park Site Graphic Controls Site Hanna Furnace/Union Ship Canal Hydroponic Tomato Site Kensington Ave (Gaiter 2) Liberty Site (Gaiter 3) Northumberland St (Gaiter 1) Pollack Building Site Smith / Leddy Street Trinidad Park Site Webster Block Site Keep in mind that this is JUST BUFFALO and does not include the surrounding suburbs. There are numerous brownfields that have caused problems such as the infamous Hickory Woods.

Buffalo has one of the highest concentration of toxic waste sites in the country. You can't go more than a a few miles without running into a Superfund site. Maybe our polution hit such a critical point that it has hit a metaphysical milestone, like an event horizon in a black hole. Once the concentrations of polution hit a certain point it starts to reverse itself!

How far is fredricksburg from Herndon? THere is a great Bills bar in Herndon called Jimmy's (even though it was filled with flutopians when I was there in 1999).

It starts with a hybrid value based drafting draft list. This enables to ensure you are not over or undervaluing players. For a great article on VBD got to footballguys.com (great site in general). You can't win your league with a bad draft - but you can win it with an average draft. The single most determinative factor in my experience is how you work the waiver wire. The waiver wire should be used offensively and defensively. You should pick up that rookie or backup RB who is thrust into the starting position and starts lighting it up. However, if one of your opponents key players that he likely drafted high goes down with injury, pick up that players backup on the waiverwire (if availible). Even if you don't need him. THat's how to use the waiver wire defensively.

Imagine if this was said on American TV?
slothrop replied to slothrop's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I did not say it wasn't stupid and boneheaded to say - it was. However, if it was said in AMerica it would turn into a Janet Jackson-esque fiasco about how his comments will send our collective souls to hell - or something like that. -

The Final Cut is my least favorite (keep in mind that Floyd's worst is better than everyone else!). Roger just forgot the music part of it (it is brilliant lyrically). The result is that every song is very similar and simple. However, there are times that I will whip it out and listen to it for about a week. I think the most underrated albulm (besides Piper at the Gate of Dawn) is Meddle. I also like as an underrated albulm Soundtrack from the Film More. But their best albulm, the perfect almalgamation of music and lyrics and concept, is Wish You Were Here. This is also Gilmour's favorite. -

Exactly! In fact, on Wish You Were Here Roger could not handle the vocals for Have a Cigar and brought in the vocalist for one of their early rivals, the Soft Machine. Roger later said he regretted doing this and not letting Gilmour handle it. -

I bought the DVD of a concert Gilmour did recently. IT IS INCREDIBLE! It is a concert hosted by Bob Wyatt. THe acoustic version of Shine on you Crazy Diamond was a wonderful surprise. He also does some Syd Barrett solo stuff! -
I have a question for our resident lawyers
slothrop replied to USMCBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am a lawyer. If he did indeed tranfer full title over to another person or entity then he should be clear of liability. A collection agency will collect from anybody so of course they said it did not matter. He should watch his credit report and notify them that that particular item is in dispute. -

the musical framework for comfortablly numb was written by Dave as well as one of teh best guitar solos in the history of Rock. Dave had written the music for a solo project and brought it into the Wall as Comfortably numb. I may be wrong so correct me, but I think I am right. Edit: for course the words were written by Roger. -

OK, I will stand up for poor Dave. I think Floyd started to go downhill with The Wall. Roger got all uppity and took the project over - even musically. Whereas before that Dave (and to some extend wright) were the musical brains. Roger was always a mediocre to poor musician. Lyrically he is in the same league as Dylan and Springsteen. Post-Barrett Floyd was at its best in Wish You Were Here - musically and lyrically it is brilliant. The Wall is weak musically except on those peices where Roger actully allowed input by Dave (Run Like Hell and Comfortably Numb). -

I am the biggest Floyd fan out there. Saw the Division Bell tour in Toronto where they played the whole Dark Side of the Moon albulm! Pink Floyd concerts are another world! Anyone go to that concert? The mirrored ball rising from the floor was incredible! I am VERY VERY surprised by this reunion since Roger hates Dave so much. He may hate Wright even more. -
