  1. 11 games before a bye week, hope they stay healthy. Otherwise looks like a good schedule .
  2. Enthusiasm and positive attitude is what this team really needs. As long as they are trying hard, the fans will be there. It will take time to get all the missing pieces, and learn a new system.
  3. Long article on Mathieu in current issue ESPN magazine. His agent moved him to a apt in Florida to stay away from friends and work out. He said he's been weed free for 3 months and will stay that way. He might be worth risking a 4th rd pick. Very postive write up. Walter football projects 3-4 rd pick http://walterfootball.com/draft2013CB.php
  4. The bills could use a qb coach like that. Even to pick the best draft prospects that are repairable. I thought David Lee tried to fix Fitz
  5. #8 Buffalo Bills: E.J. Manuel, QB, Florida State You may have seen me hint that I was leaning toward mocking E.J. Manuel to the Bills if you follow me on Twitter (@walterfootball). I think there's a good chance that it happens. It may seem far-fetched now, but is it really crazier than Jake Locker at No. 8, Blaine Gabbert at No. 10 or Christian Ponder at No. 12? I believe Manuel will be the second quarterback off the board. I also think there's a very strong chance he goes in the first half of the opening round. Think about it - outside of Geno Smith, Manuel was the only signal-caller to accept a draft invite. This could very well mean that his agent knows something. If there's a team that would be willing to draft Manuel this high, it would the Bills, who are absolutely starved for a franchise quarterback. The fans are desperately searching for someone to rally behind. They all know Kevin Kolb can't lead them to the playoffs for the first time since 1999. Going with Kolb in 2013 would give the fans no hope. Manuel, meanwhile, would give the franchise a sense of direction. Maybe it would be the wrong direction, but it would generate major fan interest nonetheless. *** OTHER 2013 NFL DRAFT POSSIBILITIES: *** 1. Geno Smith, QB - This is the no-brainer pick if Smith falls. 2. Tavon Austin, WR - The Bills have to go offense at No. 8 after spending so many resources on defense last year. A second receiver is needed. http://walterfootball.com/draft2013.php
  6. I like a trade down like that since we are rebuilding and need more players.
  7. Better to draft a WR 3rd then a troubled player.
  8. No team will give two 1st rd picks for Byrd when they can draft a good safety for much less money. I'am surprised Tampa doesn't trade up in the draft to get Milliner, 4.35, 6', instead of going after Revis coming off injury and wants $16 million a year. Whoa ,maybe we could use Milliner, with Williams now a safety and unknown if Byrd can be signed long term.
  9. He had an incredible life story shown on the NFL network. Great guy, The urban legend was his nickname became "Pat" because of the abbreviation for "point after touchdown" that a field-goal kicker was credited for in a game summary. But in a 1997 Dallas Morning News story, Summerall said after his parents divorced, he was taken in by an aunt and uncle who had a son named Mike. "My aunt and uncle just started calling me Pat to go with their Mike," said Summerall, referring to frequently named characters in Irish jokes told during that time.
  10. If Byrd's motive is to get a long term deal with the bills, then I'am glad he did not sign the franchise tag.
  11. A recent view of EJ more critical , http://www.bigcatcou...n=articlebottom scroll down on that link, not as good as original address
  12. Hope the bills give him enough time to heal. Big players , big injuries, like Troup
  13. $9.8 million a year + a draft pick is too much when we are trying to re-sign our own good players like Byrd, then CJ and Wood.
  14. Dashon Goldson just received $8.25 million as a FA for 5 years. SF could have used the franchise tag on him but did not http://www.nfl.com/n...-4125m-contract In 2012 Goldson did get the franchise tag " If Goldson receives an offer from another team, the 49ers would have the right to match the offer. If they choose not to match the offer, San Francisco would receive two first-round draft choices as compensation. The franchise tender will provide Goldson with a one-year guaranteed contract equivalent to the average of the top five highest paid players at his position each year, over the last five seasons." http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7637073/franchise-roundup-dashon-goldson-san-francisco-49ers-gets-franchise-tag No other team will give up (2) 1st rd picks plus a high salary when they can just draft someone for alot less.
  15. $16 million a year for Mario makes less cap available for our other players. That's bad for morale of other good players here.
  16. (First round picks make >$1,000,000/season?) I exaggerated that one, but the new rookie pay scale is way more reasonable then the past.
  17. Dashon Goldson , $8.25 million a year for 5 years. Byrd is looking at that FA contract. SF could not trade him before he walked, that's why the bills need to re-sign good players before there contract ends.
  18. I wanted to keep Levitre and now Byrd , will there salary demands allow it to happen? I'll keep saying it, I want to keep Byrd
  19. Franchise for Byrd is $6.9 million next season, again for 2014 would be 20% more or $8.28 million compared to less then $1 million for a 1st rd draft pick. It's up to the FO and coaching staff to decide. I'am just a armchair GM with no input whatsoever.
  20. As long as you stay within the salary cap, you don't have to trade anyone. Can you do that ? If you can't afford a salary like Levitre you let him walk away instead of trade him before contract is up?
  21. Mario ate a big piece of the salary cap pie, you can't pay everyone like that. I would want to keep Byrd and Levitre. Byrd will make $6.9 million next season, how much can we pay him long term ?
  22. Dealing with salary cap, I would like to keep Levitre ,Byrd, CJ and Wood.
  23. No, not less then a 1st rd pick for Byrd, he is well worth it.
  24. The franchise 1 year tag for Byrd is $6.9 million. Could we get a 1st rd safety for less then $1 million under the new pay scale for rookies? Byrd was a 2nd rd, 42nd pick.
