What was bizarre Zeldin the Army vet keeps holding the microphone while his female Lt Gov candidate helps tackle the attacker. When shown video of the incident by investigators, Jakubonis said he "must have checked out," also saying that the content of the video was disgusting. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/lee-zeldins-attempted-attacker-told-investigators-did-not-know-speakers-identity I wonder who used that phrase about Jan 6 ? 🤔

Democracy’s Fiery Ordeal: The War in Ukraine 🇺🇦

Putin faces second war front as Chechens threaten new offensive in Russia Chechen forces could force Putin to divert troops from Ukraine as he faces down civil war at home Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February, volunteer Chechen forces joined the fight in support of Kyiv – fueling the flames to a long-held animus towards not only Russia, but Putin. Chechen resistance to Russian rule dates back centuries and calls for independence began more than 30 years ago following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. However, disdain for Putin and a decade of war broke out after he voided the treaty and launched a deadly military campaign in 1999 after he was appointed prime minister by then President Boris Yeltsin. An estimated 160,000 people were killed in both campaigns, though exact figures remain unclear. At least two volunteer Chechen battalions, including veteran soldiers from both the first and second Chechen wars, have taken up arms against Russia in Ukraine, including the Sheikh Mansur Battalion and the Dzhokhar Dudayev Battalion. https://www.foxnews.com/world/putin-faces-second-war-front-chechens-threaten-new-offensive-russia -

Russia supplied the EU with 40% of its natural gas last year. Germany, Europe's largest economy, was the largest importer of Russia gas in 2020, followed by Italy. The UK is less reliant on Russian gas, importing just 4% of its needs from there last year, and the US doesn't import any gas from Russia.Jul 11, 2022 The EU imported 2.2 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude in 2021, including 0.7 million bpd via pipeline. The bloc also imported 1.2 million bpd of refined oil products from Russia, including 0.5 million bpd of diesel. Jun 1, 2022 Oil and nat gas are holding back help for Ukraine. -
What is better, no guns, or more guns?

The outcome at the Greenwood Park Mall is more of a needle in a haystack . It would take a massive number of concealed carry in places that even now don't allow them to have any effect . It's way too late to have the control like Japan here. If someone is not acting right here they need to be checked out for real is a step in the right direction. -
Will same sex marriage be codified in Congress?
ALF replied to Doc Brown's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I think the Senate will leave it to each state to decide like abortion. On June 26, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court held in a 5–4 decision that the Fourteenth Amendment requires all states to grant same-sex marriages and recognize same-sex marriages granted in other states. The Court overruled its prior decision in Baker v. Nelson, which the Sixth Circuit had invoked as precedent. With the present court it could be reversed like Roe/Wade -
Browns quietly brace for eight-game Deshaun Watson suspension Posted by Mike Florio on July 19, 2022 The next question becomes whether they’d fully entrust the starting job to Jacoby Brissett for those eight games, or whether they’ll try to acquire someone else. There’s apparently some chatter about the possibility of the Browns adding Cam Newton, in the event that Watson isn’t available for the full season. Would Newton be an option for half of the season? Would he be the backup to Brissett or the starter? https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/07/19/browns-quietly-brace-for-eight-game-deshaun-watson-suspension/

Lawsuit claims that Skittles are 'unfit for human consumption' A consumer lawsuit claims that Skittles' contain a 'known toxin' that is 'unfit for human consumption' A class action lawsuit filed on Thursday in Oakland, California by San Leandro resident Jenile Thames alleged that Skittles are unsafe for consumers because they contain "heightened levels" of titanium dioxide. The lawsuit also said titanium dioxide will be banned in the European Union next month after a food safety regulator there deemed it unsafe because of "genotoxicity," or the ability to change DNA. According to the lawsuit, titanium dioxide is used in paint, adhesives, plastics and roofing materials, and can cause DNA, brain and organ damage, and well as lesions in the liver and kidneys. https://www.foxbusiness.com/retail/lawsuit-claims-skittles-unfit-human-consumption

Inflation The highest paid offensive lineman in the NFL is the San Francisco 49ers' Trent Williams. He makes $23.01 million per season. The Green Bay Packers' David Bakhtiari is second. He makes $23 million in average annual salary. Feb 14, 2022 On average, NFL waterboys make $53,000 per year (according to Stack.com). However, that's just the salary for beginners. For professionals, their salary can be higher as any other highest paid NFL waterboy.

Polls show Democrats becoming party of elites as working class and minorities shift toward Republicans Polls show Republicans are attracting more working-class voters, while Democrats focus on gun control and abortion laws Republicans are starting to attract more voters in the working class, while Democrats are gaining more votes from wealthier Americans as midterm candidates make their priorities clear in the last four months before the election. The majority of voters consist of working-class citizens, a group that has historically leaned Democrat. Minority voters are likely to see inflation as the country's greatest concern, but the Democratic Party has made clear its main priorities approaching the midterms are abortion, gun laws and climate. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/polls-show-democrats-becoming-party-elites-working-class-minorities-shift-toward-republicans

Austan Goolsbee , economist , the Fed has only 1 tool to fix inflation , a screwdriver to tighten or loosen interest rates. If you need a saw or hammer they don't have that.

Inflation has made me dislike Democrat and Republican politicians , get off ALF's lawn 🙂

Iran to send hundreds of drones to Russia for use in Ukraine, U.S. says White House reveals Tehran’s plan to supply hardware, training for Russian forces The planned delivery of unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs, disclosed by national security adviser Jake Sullivan at a White House briefing, could provide a significant boost to Moscow’s efforts to find and destroy Western-supplied artillery and other weapons systems that have slowed the advance of Russian troops in recent weeks. https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2022/07/11/iran-drones-russia-ukraine/ -

Let's see if the 22 and 24 elections change their mind about having elected Biden. The pendulum swinging from one extreme to the other tears the country apart.
-
Anyone but Trump in 2020. The primary that led to Biden being the nominee was more wishful thinking. I can't imagine inflation if Bernie had won. Hindsight Hillary would have been the safer choice. That's why I wrote in John Kasich a bipartisan moderate.

Former Leader of Japan Shinzo Abe Shot
ALF replied to ChiGoose's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Japan has almost completely eliminated gun deaths — here's how Japan is a country of more than 127 million people, but it rarely sees more than 10 gun deaths a year. Culture is one reason for the low rate, but gun control is a major one, too. Japan has a long list of tests that applicants must pass before gaining access to a small pool of guns. https://www.businessinsider.com/gun-control-how-japan-has-almost-completely-eliminated-gun-deaths-2017-10 -
