Sen. Kyrsten Sinema said Thursday she will "move forward" with the Democrats' social spending and taxation bill, after previously holding out on deal "We have agreed to remove the carried interest tax provision, protect advanced manufacturing, and boost our clean energy economy in the Senate's budget reconciliation legislation," Sinema, D-Ariz., said. "Subject to the Parliamentarian's review, I'll move forward." https://www.foxnews.com/politics/sinema-agrees-move-forward-social-spending-tax-bill-after-dems-make-changes Carried interest is the percentage of profits that hedge-fund managers receive from lucrative investments. But that compensation is taxed at a lower capital gains rate that maxes out at 23.8% and doesn't face a higher income tax rate like most Americans pay on wages from their job. Critics argue it amounts to a major hole in the tax code. Yep Kyrsten is a DINO

“MAJOR announcement tomorrow morning from @GovRonDeSantis. Prepare for the liberal media meltdown of the year,” Pushaw wrote. “Everyone get some rest tonight.” Just what the country needs the most bipartisan politician possible and Pushaw for a press secretary to pour gasoline on a fire. -
Kyrsten Sinema reportedly wants to block Democrats from narrowing the carried interest loophole benefiting rich investors Sen. Kyrsten Sinema reportedly wants to knock out a provision in the $740 billion economic spending bill that benefits rich investors and hedge fund managers. Politico and Axios reported that Sinema wants to nix a Democratic measure to narrow the carried interest tax loophole and add $5 billion in drought resiliency into the package. Eliminating carried interest is a goal that's eluded both Republican and Democratic administrations for a decade. Carried interest is the percentage of profits that hedge-fund managers receive from lucrative investments. But that compensation is taxed at a lower capital gains rate that maxes out at 23.8% and doesn't face a higher income tax rate like most Americans pay on wages from their job. UN nuclear chief: Ukraine nuclear plant is `out of control’ UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The U.N. nuclear chief warned that Europe’s largest nuclear power plant in Ukraine “is completely out of control” and issued an urgent plea to Russia and Ukraine to quickly allow experts to visit the sprawling complex to stabilize the situation and avoid a nuclear accident. “Every principle of nuclear safety has been violated” at the plant, he said. “What is at stake is extremely serious and extremely grave and dangerous.” https://apnews.com/article/russia-ukraine-science-accidents-d2e0077af104f2692b76f737c58e1984 The Chernobyl disaster was a nuclear accident that occurred on 26 April 1986 at the No. 4 reactor in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, near the city of Pripyat in the north of the Ukrainian SSR in the Soviet Union. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chernobyl_disaster -

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov accused the U.S. on Tuesday of "provoking" China amid speculation that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi will visit Taiwan during her trip to the region this week. "We can now state unequivocally, whether she makes it there or not, everything about this tour and the possible visit to Taiwan has provocative character," Peskov told Russian reporters. "Russia has absolute solidarity with China." https://www.foxnews.com/world/putin-spokesman-accuses-us-provoking-china-expected-pelosi-trip-taiwan I'm ok with more defense spending

Rising tensions between China and the U.S. over Taiwan throw a spotlight on the precarious dependence the world has on the island’s cutting-edge semiconductor industry. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. makes the majority of the world’s most sophisticated chips, used in billions of electronics products, including smartphones, personal computers and cars. In an undated interview broadcast by CNN this week, TSMC Chairman Mark Liu warned that conflict over Taiwan would hurt the chip champion. Military force or invasion would render TSMC factories nonoperable, he said. Such sophisticated manufacturing facilities “depend on real-time connection with the outside world, with Europe, with Japan, with the U.S.," Mr. Liu added. https://www.wsj.com/livecoverage/nancy-pelosi-taiwan-visit-china-us-tensions Send China a message to keep hands off . The US chips project will take years to complete.

First on CNN: Top economists say Democrats' health care and climate package will put 'downward pressure on inflation "This historic legislation makes crucial investments in energy, health care, and in shoring up the nation's tax system. These investments will fight inflation and lower costs for American families while setting the stage for strong, stable, and broadly-shared long-term economic growth," 126 economists said in a letter sent to congressional leadership Tuesday, which was first obtained by CNN. https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/02/politics/economists-democrats-package-downward-pressure-inflation/index.html And we rest our case 🙂

Manchin also pushed back on the idea that his bill will raise taxes on the middle class in separate comments. "There's not one penny of change in taxes, I have no idea where they're coming down," Manchin said. "The only thing that was done… if you are a company of a billion dollars or more… you should pay at least a minimum of 15%." Manchin further said that, "I can't believe that they would say" the bill would affect average Americans' taxes. "It's not going to affect… not at all," he said. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/manchin-disputes-data-showing-social-spending-bill-raise-taxes-middle-class-during-recession

If China attacked Japan or S Korea that would be going way too far , China is not that crazy. I think the US and allies would try to deter that by bringing both those countries into NATO and hope that works. A conventional war between the US and China would be catastrophic , a nuclear one would be the end.
