well Maclin signed a 2 year 11 million deal. rumors were we were offering 1 year at 4.5 million. so we were in the ballpark but it was the extra year that got it done presumably. he wanted more guaranteed money from us was what I heard but the team was probably reluctant because he has been injury prone and they are fresh off the failed Percy Harvin experiment. probably tired of paying injured WR's

i think the Bills want to see what they have in Zay Jones and Andre Holmes. they could have had Maclin if they really wanted him

Schmidt is an easy one. Cardale Jones and Jordan Mills probably wouldn't surprise a lot of people. Preston Brown might be a cut that surprises people .:edit:. dangit you guys beat me to it! now i have to pick another one. how about Brandon Tate?

i wish these guys were worth something but i doubt it. teams will just wait for them to get cut

they said Holmes has been the standout player so far. sounds like they are ready to roll into the season with what they have. TE might be the bigger hole Ragland will be the starter at MLB. Preston Brown is a bum who is slow to the ball. Both will play but Ragland will get the majority of the snaps

I don't think we go after Decker at all. i think they want another TE and possibly a RT if Dawkins doesn't look good. safety is another position where at minimum there's not a lot of depth. probably saving the money to see who gets cut from camps.

It means we didn't win the offseason

You would think 15+ years of picking in the top half of the draft we would actually pick up some pretty good players

that was Whaley. he liked J Will and probably felt Gillislee was a random FA pickup that mostly benefitted from our running game. i wonder if Beane would have handled it differently

McD said he wanted players like Jeremy Maclin on his team. didn't neccessarily say he really wanted the actual player, just players like him. my original thought last week was that Shady got him to Buffalo on a visit. Buffalo was mildly interested (at the right price) and threw him a lowball offer. then the news came out that Beane was lowballing veterans and it was borderline disrespectful. the Maclin to Buffalo rumors were driven mostly by the fans and media who saw the Shady tweets and thought we actually had a chance. meanwhile, Maclin's camp was using Buffalo's perceived interest to negotiate with Baltimore. i don't think we were ever really IN IT at all
