  1. I doubt that it is evaporating.  Think about how long a fixture would have to sit idle in order for it to evaporate.  That sounds more like an improperly installed trap that is possibly draining or leaking.  Having said that I have plumbers to deal with these issues, hell I can't even pull my own plumbing permits.

In my case, this sat forever without being used. Therefore, the water in the trap evaporated. Who is going to take a shower in an office?

  2. One should run some water into the drain periodically. We had an instance where the shower stall in our office was smelling bad. Come to find out the water in the trap, which you know keeps the fumes from backing into the occupied area, had evaporated from lack of use.

That, or keep the drain closed all the time.

  3. Ronald Curry, wr for the Raiders, ruptured is achilles last year against us, I think. He re-habbed and was in the starting line up this season. Only to have the other tendon rupture in the first or second game this year.

Could a change in the defensive scheme (3-4 to 4-3) be in store?

  4. It's a terrible situation and no one wants to see these people have to find other accomodations but blaming the hotel for having to make a business decision is about as tenable as making McDonald pay for some dumbazz spilling coffee in his lap.

However if you really feel that "money talks - compassion walks" I'm sure that one of those Jax hotels and a car rental agency would gladly take your credit card info and provide transportation and rooming for them.

What about asking the hotel if your reservation could be transferred to another site rather than booting someone out?

  5. Sorry that I do not have the link, but Palm Beach (FL) Post story in today's Columbus (OH) Dispatch describes how hotels rooms are being taken from refugees for football fans.

Hampton Inn in Tallehassee (doesn't say which one) has thrown out refugees for the fans coming for the Miami-FSU game. Hoteliers said there was little they could do to help those who fled homes because they had to honor long-standing reservations for the football weekend. Front desk manager for the Quality Inn, who had several dozen of its 90 rooms occupied by storm refugees, said people who have planned trips for months would not take it well if they were told just days before the game that the hotel could not provide rooms. "We're not going to have a whole bunch of angry people," said the Quality Inn manager.

I guess you were right, money talks - compassion walks. Personally, I would have tried to make other accomodations (stay in Jax - drive over?).

  6. A major US city underwater, gas prices are sky rocketing, and everbody seems to be getting into a panic. Does anybody know or hear if GW is planning to address the nation tonight or was coming back from vacation supposed to be enough to make us feel better.

5:00 Eastern time is when the president is to speak to the nation.

  7. So will I get a refund on my airline tickets?  Car rental?  Hotel room?  Football tickets?

Not trying to be an ass, but vacations cost a LOT of money, so why should someone who had a trip planned be left holding the bag?

The simple answer is, "Of course you let the homeless stay in the hotel," but there's more than just hotel rooms involved in this instance.

I would hope that these entities would take this in mind. It was pointed out on the Today Show that this event is being taken into consideration with air, car, and hotel. Can't say about game tickets.

  8. So what should the people who fly/drive down there to see the game do?  Should they be the homeless ones?

It's a tough situation, but the people from out of town are just as homeless as those who fled the hurricane.

That is why I am suggesting that the schools think about postponing the game to a later date. And, if they don't, that the people coming in from out of town have some civility and re-look at accomodations. Or, going at all.

Think about if it was you in that hotel room with no house.
