I know people that use their crockpots year round. Depends on what you want to use it for. Great way to cook if you can't be home all day and don't want something out of a can or delivery all the time.
That is the time of the year that the grill, fresh veg, and salads of different sorts are for. I'm not home all day (well - now I am), the only thing this time of the year out of a can is baked beans, and I hardly get delivery.

Crockpot is mostly used during the fall / winter months in this house. Soups, chili, stew, and the like.

After 10 years at previous company with only 2 weeks, finally got some bank of vacation (4 weeks) with current employer after 1 year. Go figure.
Was planning on taking 2 extended road trips (one to the UP and the other to Mt Rushmore). Got a couple things in play. I'm taking half day Fridays to either kick back or get yard / house work done before the weekend. Currently signed up for the Memorial t'ment in July (press center). Reserved a couple of days in October in Chicago with GF. Parents cancelled summer Germany trip - now driving up from FL to spend the month of August in Buffalo. CBUS will be a layover point. I'll take some time with them then.

No. Unseasonably cool here in Southern Ontario / Western New York lately. ?
Guy who ran the corporate kitchen where I used to work said to run the dishwasher on rinse, wait for the water to settle, and then put the dough in there to proof. Never did it so I can't vouch for it.

I foresaw these problems, but still failed. At the store about 6 weeks ago, and there was a run on flour. We were able to re-stock somewhat, but I told my wife that we have to load up on yeast because I think that's next. She didn't believe me, and we both forgot about it. Now you can't find yeast anywhere, and we only have 2 small packets left.
We do a lot of baking--i.e., pizza crusts, breads, etc. My go-to is making Liege Pearl Sugar Waffles, and the yeast is what makes those!
That said, we borrowed some starter from a friend, and have been doing sourdough breads. Would like to try a sourdough pizza crust soon, if anyone has a recipe or tip on that.

This may not meet the "simple pleasure" requirement, but I will not ski east of the Mississippi ever again. Grew up skiing at Holimont and KB. Went skiing out west and have been out there many times. Conditions are sooooo good.
Otherwise, a real good meal with good company (wink wink).

Personally, I would love to have Britt as some backup / can play C or G. Pull some tape on him and you will have a hard time seeing him get beat.

I've got greens (spinach, lettuce, kale) in the ground. Some are already popping up. I've had to cover a couple of nights because of frost warnings.
Prolly later this month / early next will get the peas, beets, and beans in the ground. Will have to hold off on the tomatoes until mid-next month. I hope my nursery will have supply.

Got mine and still working. I know that this is not how it is to be used, but I plan on donating the majority of mine. Part to the local food bank and part to World Food Kitchen.

Jeesh - that one cuts hard. Never heard of John Prine until my neighbor and a buddy would talk endlessly about him. Godspeed JP.

As a long time beard grower, maybe someone in this thread can tell me how well beards go with face masks. I was wondering if I would have to shave mine off in order to get a good seal. I believe I would have to.
Years ago we did a project on a pipeline pumping station. When the engineer went out to start it up, he had to shave off his beard to wear the mask. This was more of a gasmask type mask but it is what made me think about this in the first place.
The N95 masks are fitted and you will have to shave. The general purpose masks that you would see in the dentist office - no.
I know that Jose Andres who is primary force for World Central Kitchen had to shave his.
Things may have changed since I was in the fire service, but those breathing apparatus required no beard for a proper seal.

Here's my question. What are all these kids going to do with this time off? They are not going to stay at home. They are going to the mall, go to the movies, go to the fast food place. Then what??
For those that don't have kid coverage, I've noticed on the NextDoor app a number of HS kids offering to kid-watch while parents are at work. Something to look at - FYI.

Are you in a reduced / compromised heath condition? If yes, then I might reconsider. If not, go. Take some bathroom wipes and wipe down the arm rests, seat back, the space before you sit down. I did this when I went to / back from China last spring - no post travel crud.
