  1. Not to mention if Sammy Watkins is doing nothing for the Rams as so many people love to say then what is Jordan Matthews doing for the Bills?
  2. Would you rather pay Dareus $15 million, or no one $10 million?
  3. Addition by subtraction? I mean, this question is asking if we are better Dareus or without him. Some people would have you believe that he was such a detractor from the plan that this will "help" the team, but I don't buy that. I mean McDermott and Beane clearly want him out, but this trade does not help us in 2017 one bit.
  4. My understanding is that those cap "savings" are simply the difference between the dead cap and what we would have paid him. We are still paying $10 in 2017 and $14 in 2018 million for nobody, as opposed to paying his normal salaries in 2017 and 2018 plus the signing bonus that would've been spread over the term of his contract if we kept him.
  5. Ok. That's what I thought it was. So in reality our claimed "savings" are simply that we aren't paying him. But we still have $10 million on the books this year for him. And $14 million on the books next year for him. Those don't go away because we traded him. So its safe to say we are paying $10 million in 2017, and $14 million in 2018 for a player not on the team. The benefit of that is that we don't have to pay the rest of his salary, but the difference between the "dead cap" and his regular salary shouldn't be called "savings".
  6. Is that a cap rule? Its odd to me that part of his original contract would be offset by a different part of his original contract.
  7. ✔ @spotrac Dareus leaves dead cap hits of $10.66M & $14.2M to the #Bills in 2017/2018 while saving $5.7M/$2.3M respectively. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/jacksonville-jaguars/marcell-dareus-7718/ … 7:36 PM - Oct 27, 2017 But we are still paying $10.66 and $14.2 million for no player. "Saving" is a bit misleading in this regard, unless someone wants to clarify.
  8. They moved up in the draft by trading players so I guess you could say they kind of did. They didn't stockpile picks or anything though.
  9. I don't believe that is true. ^ No. 2: Cleveland → Philadelphia (PD). Cleveland traded this selection (2nd) and a conditional fifth-round selection in 2017 (this selection would be upgraded to a compensatory fourth-round selection if the Browns receive one in 2017) to Philadelphia in exchange for Philadelphia's first-round, third-round, and fourth-round selections in this years draft (8th, 77th, and 100th) as well as Philadelphia's first-round selection in the 2017 NFL Draft and second-round selection in the 2018 NFL Draft.[source 2]
  10. I wouldn't go by his stats this year. The coaches were grooming him to be traded, and limiting his play.
  11. $10 million Dead cap in 2017, $14 million Dead cap in 2018. We really couldn't have done better than a 6th?
  12. Do they still do ads after you pay?
  13. Man, Ice Bowl 67 has been nothing but nice and wishing the Bills luck over the years. Lately they have just been harassed and treated like a troll. I wonder what happened in the not too distant past that could be responsible for that. Chill out people. Sometimes your wallowing in self pity don't have to be the "best around". "you've got nothing on our sucking!" Give me a break.
  14. Seattles line is awful on kicks. IIRC a few of those were blocked.
  15. I was waiting for someone to belittle our current coaches by comparing them to Ryan. Calling for a coaches head after 5 games and a winning record. Definitely Billsian.
  16. To me it is still a dumb trade. We may not make the playoffs not because EJ Gaines is out but because our offense is so inept.
  17. If the Rams aren't going to use him (and they clearly aren't with 20 targets over 5 games) why did they trade for him? They gave away EJ Gaines and a 2nd round pick for a guy they aren't going to throw the ball to, and will be gone next year. Unless they franchise tag him, but then why bother? Maybe we really can resign him in 2018 Really could've used him this year though. I mean people joke about decoy all they want, but he is double teamed a lot, so the argument that he isn't good or isn't respected by defenses is silly.
  18. Watkins had 2 solid years and 1 injured year. I am not sure what you mean? I don't need to defend him, he was great for us when he played. What's hilarious is you guys attacking him for 4 years because of an extra draft pick that wasn't his fault. Its interesting how "Watkins is average or isn't good" but these guys ignore the respect defenses give him.
  19. I saw the score of this game at work last night, and it was like 3-2 at the half or something, and I had to double check I was looking at football
  20. That was 2016 in a nutshell, and yes, it was bad.
  21. Are we just going to ignore Hogan has Tom Brady (195 Pass attempts 1702 yards 11 tds 1 int over 5 games) and Watkins has Jared Goff (164 pass attempts 1360 yards 7 tds 3 ints over 5 games)?
  22. I mean when you get a combined six targets against Sherman or Norman, maybe the game plan is to throw away from those top guys. Does that mean Watkins can't get open against him? No. The one pass that wasn't completely uncatchable, Watkins had a step on Sherman, but the ball was thrown a bit too far out of bounds. Either way if you think Watkins just can't compete with WR's like Woods, or Kupp then I've got to say you are insane.
  23. Are you saying Zay was supposed to run his route facing the inside as opposed to the outside away from defenders? I am skeptical. Watching the replay, he was wide open facing the outside, and had to adjust to catch it on his opposite shoulder. https://i.imgur.com/hKk68UW.png
  24. He's got 20 targets in 5 games. The conspiracist in me is thinking the Rams are underplaying him so they don't pay through the nose for him next year. Either that or Goff just doesn't have chemistry with him.
