538 analysis: Bills underperformed with schedule set up to dominate
What a Tuel replied to beebe's topic in The Stadium Wall
We were never up 2 scores for that jets game. In fact we were losing until a FG with 1:37 left in the 3rd quarter making it 12-10. Two more field goals in the 4th quarter and a shut down defense allowed us to come up with a win 18-10. This is very comparable to the crappy Jaguars game this year. The Raiders game we were winning 23 to 16 at the start of the 4th quarter. I would argue that this is much like the Titans game this year. Instead of driving down and putting us up two scores against the titans, we punted. This resulted in the Titans driving back down and scoring a TD putting them up by 3. In the Raiders game, we drove down and scored and put the raiders in desperation mode. The Dolphins game we were only up by 2 scores at 3:09 left in the 4th quarter (46 yard td pass to John Brown). Had we punted, it could have gone much the way of the Titans, Steelers, etc. -
538 analysis: Bills underperformed with schedule set up to dominate

This year we lost 5 one possession games and were blown out once. Last year we won 5 one possession games and lost one. I don't think it is about not having what it takes to win those games. Sometimes the ball just won't bounce our way.- 55 replies

Its easier for them to tear it all down in hopes for some superstar team in their head than support the team in a loss and I hate it.

I think the defense and Allen pulled us out. Defense didn't allow another point to be scored by the Falcons after the half which helped out. Although we have Matt Ryan to partially thank for that. Anyone watching the game knew Allen wasn't the real problem on the field. Illegal contact or holding on Beasley was a direct cause of one INT. 2 other tipped balls. Its a drag on his stats sure, but he got the job done.

You completely wrote it off by saying "No week 17 happened instead" when someone brought it up as a good point for Allen that happened recently. "No, Allen just threw 3 picks against the Atlanta Falcons. Joe Burrow just threw for 400 yards and 4 TD's against the #1 seed in the AFC." But whatever, zero in on this most recent game, I don't really care. Next week when Allen dismantles the Jets, Falcons will be 2 weeks away and wont matter in the MVP vote, right?

I disagree. I'd say they are elite, may not be true #1 due to the run defense gaps, but they are one of the best groups in the league.

AFC Playoff Picture Week 17 Rooting Interests

I could see Bills vs Colts Rematch if the Dolphins pick up a win against the Pats. If the Pats win then its part 3 for Bills vs Pats. This is assuming: Chargers beat Broncos/Raiders Colts beat Jaguars Bills beat Jets Chiefs beat Broncos Bengals beat Browns At this point i think its near a lock its either the Colts or the Pats Super Wild Card weekend unless something crazy happens. -
Love how it is used as a slight that the defense shuts down the QBs they should. They also limit the QB's they should as well, but at a certain point you just need your offense to outscore your opponent. I dont think these is a single defense this year that has shut down every elite QB.

Does fox have a streaming service for their live tv? Canceled my hulu sub early thinking I can coast on free month trials rest of way. -

Yeah, I saw that but not sure there is a scenario where a good team plays against the chiefs otherwise. I think we can beat the colts but that beating by them is still fresh haha. Gotta play the good teams sometime. Just think though, Chiefs do the dirty work of eliminating the colts, then go on to lose to the titans or bengals. Bengals/Titans vs Bills conference championship is best case scenario i feel like, unless one of the wildcards surprises everyone (which could be the colts). This is all a dream though haha, Chiefs and Colts aren't dropping their last two games. -

Yep, they should make it simple and remove the tie scenarios until that may come up. Buffalo clinches playoff berth with: BUF win + BAL loss or tie OR BUF win + LAC loss or tie + LV loss or tie OR BUF tie + MIA loss or tie + LAC loss + LV loss OR BUF tie + MIA loss or tie + LAC loss or tie + BAL loss + PIT loss or tie OR BUF tie + MIA loss or tie + LV loss or tie + BAL loss + PIT loss or tie OR BUF tie + NE loss or tie + LAC Loss + LV loss OR BUF tie + NE loss or tie + LAC loss or tie + BAL loss + PIT loss or tie OR BUF tie + NE loss or tie + LV loss or tie + BAL loss + PIT loss or tie OR BUF tie + LAC loss + LV loss + BAL loss + PIT loss or tie -
Even if they knew he is going to sneak left, our OL needs to make the block. They didn't on that play, and Josh subsequently had no place to go after the "trip". Think the problem is that the Bills make the media eat their words sometimes. We were super bowl favs until we dropped a close one to the titans, then lost to the jaguars and victimized by the colts. We need to get the job done this weekend or else we could very easily be dependent on a Dolphins win against the Pats to even win the division.

I was wondering the same and if it was on the same side and maybe they were talking trash when he missed one, and then he came back to give it right back.

Eh...its been picked up on us. I don't have any examples on hand but i do remember complaining about how there is discussion and picking up the flag which never appears to happen except to us. This week it happened for us so I eat those words, but still. My question is for the tipped ball call. Is it really the rule that the defense can hold wrs at any point in the play even before the ball is tipped and it is ok because the ball is subsequently tipped? I would have thought that endzone play was defensive holding before the tip.

According to the Patriots fans, the refs didnt call a clean game today. In fact "they are sick and tired of the refs being so against the pats" 😂😂🤣

Where does the 50% chance of winning with the 2pt conversion come into play? Is it only considering game winning 2pt conversions? How many of those have there actually been? What teams? Home/away? There is just too many factors. If I were Harbaugh, I'd argue more that he thought his team could win it there rather than relying on some stat that takes into account the panthers going for 2 against the bills bc they dont have a kicker. How does it even relate?

Final 3 games for all the AFC North teams
What a Tuel replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
We did stop them. They punted what 8 out of 11 times? I dont understand this myth that we couldn't. The single touchdown was right after Breida gifted the ball to their offense. The defense put our offense in a position to win the game and the offense fell short. -
Yeah freezing your butt off or being drenched in rain is really just more exciting. Especially with what you'll pay in PSLs. Also I gave two examples of critical games in which weather negatively impacted our play and had large implications on the Bills season. Can you give me an example in which Josh played in a dome, and we said "man, if only it were pouring rain or snowing, we'd be winning this game bc josh is just so good in the 😮elements😮"
