Perception of the Team. From an Ex Bills Fan
What a Tuel replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't know about the rest of you, but the last 14 years have been bad, but I have still had a good time rooting for my Bills day in and day out, and will continue to do so. We will make it back to the playoffs, and we will win a Superbowl. I don't need to attach myself to another team to make sure I get that experience. I am just fine rooting for my team, and I will leave it with this: Fight on, my men,” Sir Andrew Said “A little I’m hurt but not yet slain. “I’ll just lie down and bleed a while, “And then I’ll rise and Fight again. -

How long to you think Houston plans on keeping Fitz? As much as I like Fitz, I dont think they plan on doing much with him at QB. -

I don't think the bears should be ones to talk about inherent disadvantages. 1 Playoff appearance in 7 years (4 in 20) isn't something to boast about. -
Turmoil brewing between Marrone and Whaley?
What a Tuel replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep, throwing another 1st round QB into the fire always works! Anyone notice that many of the teams who drafted QB's are reverting to their veteran qbs rather than throwing their guy into the fire? Cassel Henne Hoyer Granted, the rookie may end up taking over at some point throughout the season. If Bridgewater was in Buffalo, and they said "We are starting Cassel over him", there would be riots. -

I think he was signed prior to Pettine leaving, and Pettine had him as a starter. Schwartz had him as a backup, and he lazy, and was getting outplayed by the other DT's. Compound that with the DUI and it made sense to cut him. I think it is more on him that he seemingly signed a contract and then stopped trying. Maybe they should have been able to tell this would've happened, maybe they couldn't. Who knows. -

Brian Billick "If you want to fight thats fine, just keep it under control. If you can't keep it under control, and you don't want to practice, we can just condition the rest of the time." So more than one player is publicly complaining about the practice schedule in spite of Marrone, but aren't really complaining publicly? Just according to Joe B.? Gotcha. -

I think you are making it into a bigger mess than it is, because this offseason is going on forever. Just this post leads me to believe you are blowing it out of proportion: Whaley, and Brandon putting pressure on Marrone. That's a good thing. Saturdays play was not acceptable. 2 people "spoke out" about the practice schedule. Two. That's it. The funny thing is that one of those two was asked what he thought! God forbid he be honest and tell what he thinks. So in reality, one loudmouth spoke out, and talked back to the head coach. You are blowing it out of proportion. The players kept fighting so Marrone disciplined them. If they would quit fighting like high school kids, maybe they wouldn't be treated like kids. He had to do something. -
A Little Update For All Who Were On The Nassib Bandwagon
What a Tuel replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Manuel and the offense played nearly flawlessly against Tampas 2nd. That does warrant discussion. It means given time, and when receivers execute their routes properly and create separation, Manuel makes the throws. -

You are right. Nassib didn't play with the 1's against the twos. I believe Manziel and Hoyer alternating may have resulted in this situation. Probably not as much as I initially stated though. I don't think that it nullifies the point though. They got thrashed against first stringers, so I don't think they get the benefit of the doubt that they are truely superior to second stringers. I sure hope they are, but the whole offense wasn't in the league of competing against 1st stringers. -

His last full season with the Bucs he had 4,056 yards 27 tds and 17 ints, 8 fumbles. Major upgrade over Tuel and Lewis. Like I said above, I don't think he is. Something seems to be off with him though. -

Slim pickens. Orton wouldn't be bad would he? I thought he retired though. I am still under the impression that Freeman has the skill to be a decent backup, or even a low end starter, but he doesn't seem to have the will. Not a fan of the rest. Edit: Hey the trick shot guy is on there! -
EJ's post game press conference
What a Tuel replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the point people are making is that the whole offense sucked Sunday, not just Manuel. We do have a lot of talent, but it is young talent that needs to develop, and grow together. It needs time. The kicker is that the fan base won't give it time because "14 years without playoffs!!!", which as bad as it is, is irrelevant. The 2005 Bills had an entirely different team, coach, gm, and soon even owner. All people are asking is for people to give it time before getting their pitchforks, and demoralizing the players. -
Bills First Half vs. Bucs--broken down
What a Tuel replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, EJ made some mistakes but the whole offense did too. Hopefully Hackett has something other than vanilla for the regular season as well as our players executing it better. Yeah, that was only a fumble because the defense made a solid hit on the ball with his helmet. -

There have been plenty of cases of young QBs playing with the firsts against 2nd string D's. . -

Yeah I know what you are saying. We are all anxious to see what this season will bring. Wait. Think about that, doesn't that mean the first string team wasn't good enough against Tampa's first string defense? I'd accept that because that is what happened. I won't accept that our first string offense wasn't good because EJ wasn't good. Our first string offense wasn't good because our first string offense wasn't good. -

Haha, I am just in a mood today. The preseason has sucked, but I just hate to see so many people just give up before the first game is even played. -
Has JK been the best QB we have had in the last 20 years? Sure. What is your point? We have been through 6 coaches, and 5 GMs since Kelly. Are you saying our next GM should be a fan?

No, the point is a developmental qb is a developmental qb. We always knew he was a project QB. Best case was to have him sit behind Kolb for a year, but workout mats. The reason Nassib isn't starting over Eli Manning, who isn't doing so hot lately, is because he isn't ready, and needs time to develop. Is it possible to draft a QB like Luck who is an instant success? Sure. Does it happen often? No. So we work with what we have - a developmental QB. -
Fans would like to think that.

Just a little note for those of you wishing we had other teams second string QB's because they did so well against Second string defenses. Manuel went 6/6 for 88 yards and a td in the 3rd quarter. Following drive he want 4/4 for 43 yards. (Fred Jackson running TD.) So against 2nd stringers Manuel totaled 10/10 for 131 yards and a TD in less than a quarter. I have no doubt that if Manuel was on another team as second string, and we had one of the other young QB's, we would be pointing to Manuel going "Look at this guy! Why didn't we know to get him!" -
It is also easy to run players out of town when they don't pass your "eye test". Fans should be QB scouts, they can easily tell if a QB's "got it".
-
That is an exaggeration. There were a few 3rd stringers, but the majority were second string. Just to be clear, I have preseason live and the depth chart in hand.
