  1. All cheating being equal Montana was still better, and didn't need to cheat himself. If Jerry Rice cheated then so be it, but there is no evidence that Montana instructed Rice to use stickum or anything. On the other hand, unless we are to believe the wild string of coincidental situations, Brady instructed team employees to give him a competitive advantage. That distinction right there is why Brady* deserves that asterisk more than Montana. That said, Montana was still better. http://fansided.com/2015/02/02/tom-brady-10-reasons-joe-montana-still-better/
  2. If you take it out of the forum area, you will see that the media perpetuated special treatment of the guy during the draft. The whole time it was "When or will Michael Sam be drafted? Why and why not?" So I disagree that this guy is just another guy who we would be talking about anyway if he wasn't gay. He is being perpetuated by the media and it is trickling down to individuals. If you don't believe it, just take a look at what the media did to Tim Tebow.
  3. I feel like this is one of those things that just won't go away. There is no guarantee we sign Murray to come here. There was a very good chance that Spiller goes to New Orleans, Chip trades McCoy to someone else (god forbid the Jets or Dolphins), and Murray still signs with Philly. Then what? Sign Frank Gore or Ryan Matthews? Panic and overpay Spiller before he goes? We took away from a overwhelming strength to improve our weakness which freed us to make other important moves in free agency.
  4. Thank you. I see the math of it, but it still doesn't sit right with me. While you would average out to a slight higher amount of points overall if you look at it that way, the chance to come away with no points is still far greater in my opinion because these tries are independent of their predecessors. Going for 2 two point conversions does not mean you should expect at least 2 points. I think the basis of this thought is that the field goal accuracy has a much larger sample size and stability whereas the two point conversion percentage has a shaky sample size, and a lot more variables to it. I know I am going against math and probability here but when has that ever worked for sports in general?
  5. If there is a difference between beating the Carolina Panthers, or the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl, then you have your answer. It would be fantastic to simply win the Super Bowl. God damn amazing. It would be a sweeter victory against a decent team. Flip that to a division. If the NFL suspended Tom Brady, Ryan Tannehill, and allowed Geno Smith to play for the Jets , would it be more or less satisfying to win the division? Sure it would be satisfying either way, but beating a perfectly capable tom brady, shutting the Dolphins up about Tannehill, and picking Geno Smith off another 27 times is simply sweeter. That said though, that reasoning should never be a used as a "yeah but" to take significance away from a victory, especially by other fans. Those players aren't playing by no fault of ours. Some people see it this way, some people don't. Whatever floats their boat.
  6. Maybe I am just not understanding the math, but you still have a 48% chance to get the 2 point conversion no matter how many points it nets you. Why would you double the odds? Going by last years stats that you provided, you have a 48% chance to get two points, and a 52% chance to get zero. Whereas the extra point will be a 94% chance to get one point, and a 6% chance to get zero. You don't get two tries (doubling your odds) for the 2 pt conversion because its worth 2 points. Maybe I just don't understand what "expected point total" actually means. Although like others have said that 94% may drop if there are an extra several hundred kicks contributing to the statistics, but I bet so will the 2 pt conversion odds as well.
  7. Congrats to the jets for having a good cheap d line. Except that they continue to change out that good cheap d line in the draft, rather than improving other areas of need such as their horrid offense.
  8. Maybe. Maybe not. I keep seeing references to this ruling. Of course I am not well versed in this type of thing, but wouldn't this set a precedent that maybe a Massachusetts court might follow?
  9. LeGarrette Blount is all I have to say. By association, those Pats fans are admitting their superbowl was tainted.
  10. Far better link here I like Buffalo Beasts! Too bad the Lions stole that one. I didn't know Rhinos were hairy For some reason I like the Cincinatti Symbiotes Edit: And some Star Wars ones! Must have been a Patriots fan, they definitely have a Sith look over a Jedi look. I might be bias. AFC NFC
  11. NFL Helmets Re-imagined Marvel Style They could have had a little more imagination for the Bills I think. Kinda fun nonetheless.
  12. I keep hearing about this fake bathroom thing. Was this a non functioning bathroom that McNally want into? What's the story on this?
  13. Yes I would rate Stevie as more valuable, so to me it kind of stung. He can prove me right or wrong this year with Philip Rivers throwing to him though. Edit: I know, I know, Bryce was a promising young RB, but I think veteran WR experience would've helped last year.
  14. The Real Buffalo Joe should tell them we don't want the cheater.
  15. Haha thank you for this. Tuned in just in time to "I would personally like Bob Kraft to resign from the patriots"
  16. "Kraft is dead to me. I vow to spend less money on his brand. Hot dog and soda will never be bought inside Gillette again."
  17. I think it really helped them to get Parker, and Ajayi. That said, using rookies to fill gaps usually don't get instant results. Their O line needs a lot of help as well. Besides QB, I think we have a more complete team on paper. Maybe that makes them better? I don't think so though. I'm a little biased though I think.
  18. Tannehill has 1 more year on Manuel and far more games played. I think most Manuel supporters would say he has to step up or he is gone after this year. Tannehill was nearly benched last year, but they stuck with him, and he has gotten better, but he does have his problems, and our QB situation has no impact on that assessment.
  19. True, but he does say more... “I think he’s doing a great job, and I’m a big supporter of his,” Jones said at the team’s annual Sponsor Appreciation Golf Classic. “I’ve certainly had the benefit of his role as commissioner and being penalized in the past. But I’m a big supporter of his. I know one of his best qualities is fairness.” “Certainly we’ve been in that situation as well so we’re not one to point a finger. We want to worry about what’s going on in our house and we’ll move forward from there. The league and our commissioner do a great job of moving forward and making sure that everybody is accountable.” Put them together, and to me it sounds like he doesn't have much of a problem with penalizing the patriots, and if you make that leap, then you might assume he doesn't disagree with Goodell but like people have said, he won't directly come out and call Robert Kraft and the Pats a bunch of Cheaters. Especially since they are a little sketchy themselves at times.
  20. Except this bully didn't chose to send in Jeanine. He cheated and is being rightly punished. So while there will be a theme of "what if the patriots had Brady those first 4 games" throughout the media, and it will be annoying, it shouldn't affect our outlook, and pride in our team.
  21. Jay Cutler (13th and 10th) Honestly though Tannehills stats are decent, but isn't there a problem with his long game that may lead to issues down the road?
  22. The 5th year option which is $16 million next year puts the Dolphins at 164 million for active contracts for 2016. Depending on how it is spread out over the years, its probably better that they signed him and spread it out a bit. With the option they are paying $44.75 million for Suh and Tannehill.
  23. Maybe. I gotta tell you, I love the Rex hire and I think he is doing great so far with what he can do these few short months, but I am getting the nagging impression from posters here that Taylor has an in, because Rex has this itch for him (he even wanted to trade for him with the Jets). Obviously Rex has a better view of the situation than any of us, but it just rubs me the wrong way that there was this hidden gem of a QB on the Ravens and that it is a foregone conclusion that he would even be a better backup than Manuel let alone starter. In the grand scheme of things, my opinion matters little but Taylor will have to prove something to me before I feel comfortable saying cut/trade Manuel, whether it be Cassel or Taylor we have our starter/backup. At the current level, to the best of my knowledge, it should go Cassel - Manuel - Taylor. (I reallllllly hope it doesn't turn out that way). Just like we are waiting for Manuel to improve, Taylor has to wow us.
