  1. I am not sure why one would find it hard to believe that people irrationally optimistically rooting for their team would be more accepted than people irrationally bashing the team. I mean geez. That's a puzzler. Are these the positive and negative threads from last year? Shouldn't they be pinned?
  2. Because they can't imagine that there are conversations and discussions that take place outside of their earshot. They have trouble filling in the gaps, and then their minds begin to wander. Maybe it's the Bills fault, but they are still acting ridiculously.
  3. What is pretty scary is that you keep railing on them for this. This will be forgotten next year and we will have Lawson for 4 more years. But yep let's base our draft picks on potentially missing 4-5 games. Meanwhile we should have grabbed Myles Jack
  4. Going by this crowd, Shefter owes us an apology because he assumed Lawson would be a day one starter. How could he miss this!? Incompetence at best!
  5. Or he would get a inflated sense of his contribution towards the team because without him we are dooooooomed.
  6. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Bills-place-RB-Dri-Archer-on-ReserveDid-Not-Report-list/c18e4665-44b3-407c-981e-057c74e365c7 Strange thing for him to do.
  7. Well to be fair, I was looking to be accurate for mine.
  8. I don't have time to do it, but I am sure you could replace a lot of those chorus parts with a consensus over the top negative reaction to the whole Lawson surgery thing. Of course the negativity is justified because we are...doooooooooomed whenever things don't go precisely our way. On the other hand, I don't think I have ever heard anyone say it's a good thing beyond "maybe he will have the full range of motion after the surgery that he didn't have in college".
  9. I saw the same realistic take last year with Tyrod, EJ, and Cassel competing for the starting QB job. No one expected the offense to do a whole lot. No that isn't negative. It was a pretty realist take - and it was wrong, not because we didn't have the foresight to know that our offense would be better than 2014, but because the damn games haven't been played yet. So these "realists" can make all the predictions they want, but they don't really know. They act like they do, and that their opinion is a certainty though which rubs people the wrong way. Especially people who are rooting for their team to do well. Saying "same old bills, never get a decent QB, always going to suck, I see us winning 3 games tops, 17 years and counting, fire everybody" is negative, and should be expected to be countered by fans who wish their team well and are rooting for success. Edit: It's kind of like watching a Bills game, and you have that one guy saying "they are gonna blow it, just watch. They always do this. Oh my god, they are going to lose. Why would they do that? That guy sucks. I am so done with this team. Same old Bills". I know it's different on a message board where are opinions being discussed, but the general downer feeling is the same. There is no need for excessive optimism, but there is no reason to trash the entire organization because they didn't do something you wanted them to do. AKA "dooooooomed"
  10. The D sucked in comparison to 2014, and in particular games in 2015. However on its own merit in 2015, the D was not nearly as bad as people think it was.
  11. While both sides have extremes (it is the internet after all) the unbridled optimism about the team is more accepted because that's what fans do. Root for their team. Of course unbridled negativity will get railed on by other fans of the team who are hoping the team they are rooting for does well. There are also people in the middle who are just trying to make reasonable points (either way) that get caught up in it. But anyways, that is why optimism is more widely accepted than negativity, and I wouldn't want it any other way. Other wise we might as well name ourselves Jets West where negativity about their team is a pillar of their community.
  12. Philip Rivers had his way with us and our defense that game. The stats may not show it, but they let up on us in the second half. I think the point is that while there is legitimate criticism of Rex Ryan's defense last year, there is a lot of criticism to be had for the 2014 defense. You can point to several games in 2015 that the defense performed great. It's not popular but it is the truth despite the sack totals.
  13. I think the idea is while it isn't optimal for him to miss contact drills and practice and even preseason games, he won't be at home in a different state all that time. He will be here working with his teammates. Worse then full participation? Yes. Better than no participation? Yes.
  14. 2000 Bill Belichick 5-11 That isn't to say Rex Ryan will have the success of Bill Belichick, but I am sure Kraft is glad he didn't say "no success? Get the out"
  15. I never said it was solely liberals or conservatives. There are a lot of things the government should be involved in, and there are a lot of things they shouldn't. No matter if you are a D or an R.
  16. ^ This is a great way to put it. Step 1: Convince the public they need you Step 2: Ensure that the public cannot live without your assistance Step 3: Push an agenda that is not popular "for the good of the people" Step 4: Threaten withholding promised assistance if you don't accept their agenda Step 5: Laugh at the public because they are so dependent.
  17. Man, that sounds about as risky as spleen surgery.
  18. While I don't think we played up to our talent level all season, neither did they. This is evidenced by their loss to us with their playoff hopes on the line, and nothing on the line for us. Agree to disagree though I guess.
  19. Did they though? Exchange out the Browns and the Raiders for the Bengals and the Chiefs and do you think our records would have been reversed? Edit: in the theme of this thread, this is something the negative nancies would trumpet if the situation were actually reversed.
  20. He said he would rather retire than work for the amount they are offering. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/15421505/ryan-fitzpatrick-sit-new-york-jets-budge I don't know one way or the other. The Jets were decent last year, but they did have a soft schedule. I didn't think the Jets had any chance to be 2nd in the division last year. Some would call that being a realist last year. I'd call it my opinion. The problem with being a realist on the internet is that there is no accountability. The "realists" come back when they are right to confirm their realist POV and don't come back when they are wrong. Or if they do come back when they are wrong, they often qualify it as circumstances changed. The optimistic crowd is the same way and makes the same proclamations, I figure it is more widely accepted because it is what rooting for your team is, even against the odds. Just my 2 cents.
  21. I'm not defensive. I'm just throwing my opinion out there like everyone else. The "you guys" was for everyone who is "pissed off by this" as if they were misled. Sammy Watkins is a starter as well, whose circumstances changed because he broke his foot. The same could have easily happened with Lawson. He could have aggravated it, or the Bills staff didn't like the way it was looking and said let's get this surgery over with. Like someone else said, its as plausible theory as any other one, so there isn't much to be "pissed about". To each their own though. Apologies if I offended.
  22. Is this the realist point of view or the opinion? These proclamations get confusing.
  23. That is curious. Going by this thread and posts I see on facebook, maybe he means the constant incorrect statements of Sammy out 5-6 months with lingering foot issues.
  24. Things change. The thing is that you guys assume the doctors are so incompetent that they found whatever the 2nd time around? If they didn't know, then how did they find out? It is more likely, that they probably didn't like something during rookie minicamp or the practice dummy thing is legitimate, and they said let's just get this done now. There doesn't need to be some underlying conspiracy to deceive us. I trust the Bills organization is making the best moves for the long term success of Lawson.
  25. While I know you have been ripped for actually decent insight, it is posts like this that get people tired of the negativity and wooest me attitude, and they just don't want to hear it. There's tons more, but the going trend is the "dooooomed" attitude towards every single piece of bad news. Shaq Lawson will not be a wasted pick. The front office is not incompetent because negative fans are attributing their own ignorance of the facts to the front office.
