Doug Whaley comments going viral
What a Tuel replied to DC Greg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You aren't grasping what Whaley actually said, and latching onto "humans shouldn't play football" which also isn't even an accurate quote. People are being so ignorant about this and ignoring his point to make retarded jokes like "well Whaley would be out of a job if we didn't play football". The actual quote in context for the 100th time: He very clearly meant humans aren't supposed to be colliding into each other, and when they do it will result in injuries but we trust in our medical staff, and the athlete to get themselves back onto the field. He is a god damn NFL GM, if you really think he meant humans "shouldn't" be playing football, and the NFL should close up shop, you need to take a closer look at the quote, or you are the media who is cashing in on this clear and purposeful misinterpretation of his words. -
Top WR's that have missed more or the same amount of games as Sammy (3 games) while he was in the league: DeSean Jackson (7 games) Odell Beckham (4 games) Dez Bryant (7 games) AJ Green (3 games) Brandin Cooks (6 games) Kelvin Benjamin (16 games) Alshon Jeffery (7 games) Jordy Nelson (16 games) Keenan Allen (10 games) Steve Smith (9 games) Brandon Marshall (3 games) Julian Edelman (9 games) Top WR's who haven't: Mike Evans (2 games) Calvin Johnson (1 game) Doug Baldwin (0 games) Larry Fitzgerald (2 games) Demaryius Thomas (0 games) TY Hilton (1 game) DeAndre Hopkins (0 games) Antonio Brown (0 games) Remember this is only for the 2014/15 seasons and of course excludes the nagging injuries that they play through. Sammy seems on the good side of average, don't you think?

It's ridiculous that they refuse to make the logical jump from Watkin's injury to this is a rough sport that will result in injuries because normally humans don't run into each other at full speed. Nope, they will stick with the "Whaley is opposed to football because it is a violent game, and doesn't think players should be playing it" which is so far from what he said, it is mind boggling.

Bills have new media reporting guidelines
What a Tuel replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Let the misleading journalism continue. I like Dunne, but come on man! "The Bills don't want you to know if someone drops a pass in practice". No, the Bills don't care what observations the fans make. They don't want you putting undue emphasis on it like last year. You could take it like a man, and go ahead and provide decent journalism about the team, or you could cry about not being able to tweet out Tyrod Taylor going 2/5 in team drills that series. Unfortunately you chose the latter. http://bills.buffalonews.com/2016/05/24/buffalo-bills-dont-want-know-someone-drops-pass-practice/ -

Weren't we just praising particular players for getting out of the game a few years early, so they could play with their kids and stuff years from now. Why do you think we pat those guys on the back? -
Oh my god. That second link. edited for more accurate quote "we are trying to figure out what way shape or form, what context you could say oh yeah I get what he is saying, but he wasn't even asked a question about it, he just offered it up" Maybe read the interviewer's question for the context. Sure it's head scratching because it will be interpreted like this by you idiots in the national media. Any rational person would understand Whaley's meaning. The only controversial thing is that it admits to people that football is a rough sport as if we didn't already know.

Why did Lawson have surgery before signing a contract?
What a Tuel replied to Ennjay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The surgery has a very low risk of failure and the Bills probably worked something out with him. There was very little chance something would have went wrong to where the Bills would not want to sign him at all. Now spleen surgery on the other hand.... -

For god's sake journalists suck these days. If you are going to bash someone, and claim they will likely be fired this year, at least do the due diligence and quote the whole damn quote in context. But no, we will disingeniously (Edit) make a headline to get clicks saying Whaley's position is: And go on to claim if he doesn't win the Super Bowl he is a goner. "In other news X player had their 6th surgery and should be ready for the season opener" Journalists are hacks. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/05/24/doug-whaley-doesnt-think-humans-should-play-football/ -
You can be skeptical of drafting an injured player, but I think McGahee was a bit different in that he really fudged up his knee didn't he? The prognosis for Lawson's shoulder is a whole lot better, and has low chance of recurrence or even affecting him after he heals and rehabs it. Of course we will have to wait and see how he performs once he comes back.

They now merged to make the NVRL (National Virtual Robot League). Robots weren't made to collide into each other. You could break them!

So when Whaley used 14 1st round picks to get Sammy Watkins, Rex Ryan was whispering in his ear from NY? Or is it just a good football program? I have no doubt that move would have been attributed to Rex if he was here at the time which is hilarious to me, and revealing of the people who think they know what is going on behind the scenes from a few random statements and a lot of conjecture. edit: 4 of 6 picks in 2015 were offense. Is Rex on a delay or something? Or only influencing his defensive focus on the even years? Or does the 2nd round pick of Darby satisfy Rex's demands for defensive players? What is the method to this madness! I must know!
-
Yeah, I think he does. I think the media gets to him sometimes. In the post draft interview with Rex and him, someone was asking a question to Rex, and Whaley was watching the draft on the tv to the side and he frowned, but then felt the need to explain to the media that he was frowning because teams were drafting guys he wanted as free agents, and not about what Rex was saying "just so they know". Found it in the below link at the end starting at 25:30 http://www.buffalobills.com/video/videos/Watch-Whaley-and-Rex-Recap-the-2016-Draft-Class/8268859d-97ff-4bc3-bac1-70015c237c28 Just awkward, but I'll take it as long as he keeps it up as a good GM. "If you look at his game log, he's only missed three games. So is he injury-prone? I wouldn't say that," Whaley said during the interview when asked about the foot injury Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins sustained during the offseason. "Are things going to come up with a guy like this? We hope that gets limited in the future." Then he kept going when it probably would have been a better idea for him to stop. "This is the game of football," Whaley added. "Injuries are part of it. It's a violent game that I personally don't think humans are supposed to play. And these things are going to come up." "But we trust in our medical staff and we trust in each individual athlete to do what they have to do to get back on the field."

2/3 of US would struggle to cover $1,000 crisis
What a Tuel replied to /dev/null's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Good post. Articulated better than I was doing, I think. Nothing wrong with it, they wish to be better off but don't "want" it, or the trade off of their own vices to advance themselves. It isn't about the people who spend everything at the bar, or have a gambling problem. Even the occasional vice can make someone complacent enough to not advance themselves economically. There's nothing wrong with it, but it is a choice. -

People are satisfied with their alcohol, phones and cable tv (or any other vices) yes. I know you will then go on to say they deserve some entertainment in their life, and therein lies their complacent choice. -
Thoughts on Why Bills Should Extend Gilmore NOW.
What a Tuel replied to rquinn619's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree we should extend Gilmore now, but not with the OP's sentiment that players view Buffalo as a team/place with a bad reputation. Not anymore at least. Despite the defense's poor performance compared to 2014, the points allowed per game were actually very good throughout the season. You have Patriots 1 and the Bengals which really skew the totals, but Rex made corrections that halved the Patriots points in game 2. Your argument about points per game allowed fails in that regard because more often than not, the Rex Ryan defense held teams to low amounts of points. (or above league average.) 7 games - 17 or less points allowed (Seahawks who were #1 in the league averaged 17 points allowed per game) 4 games - 18-24 points allowed (23.4 League Average points allowed per game) 1 game - 25-33 points allowed 4 games - 34-40 points allowed (Patriots, Bengals, Jaguars, Redskins) -

Sure you could insert conscious if that's what bugs you. But what the heck: The Oxford English Dictionary defines the adjective “concerted” as meaning “arranged by mutual agreement; agreed upon, pre-arranged; planned, contrived; done in concert.” This sense of singularity can be traced to the verb “concert” (like the adjective, it’s accented on the second syllable). In one of its definitions, the OED says the verb “concert” applies to “a single person,” and means “to plan, devise, arrange.” http://www.grammarphobia.com/blog/2011/04/concerted.html Managers already know when an employee isn't going to work out and it's just a matter of time. This right to work and PIP plan nonsense, and inevitable lawsuit BS is ridiculous. I was listening to some girl complain to someone at the grocery store about her employer firing her because she violated policies or didn't show up, and now she is suing and thinks she has a case because they didn't give her warnings or anything. The system is ripe for abuse by these people. -

What a Tuel replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Did I? Time will tell. Nice one! Who knows what that would have changed for the future. Tough road ahead playing the 13-3 Colts and then the 14-2 Jaguars I think..... -
That depends. Do you mean it was a bad week because of the injuries? Or do you mean it was a bad week because of the incompetence of the medical staff, amateur hour at OBD, and Doug Whaley thinking he is the smartest GM in the league? The resulting Doug Whaley is on the hot seat, do the bills need new medical staff, and subsequent "amateur" comments and threads I consider "losing their schitt" I agree it was a bad week for injuries on the team. It sucks that Sammy will have to take it easy for a month or 2. Definitely sucks Shaq will miss a 4-5 games. That is a rough week for sure. Do I think it was a bad week for Whaley and the Bills medical staff? No. I think they knew exactly what they were getting with Shaq. I imagine the storm that may have occurred midseason if Lawson got hurt though. I could see the same arguments and maybe missing more games. Smarter to get it out of the way. Go ahead and question the pick itself, but I feel it will be a blip on the radar of the young man's career.

I think you misinterpret laziness or bad choices for complacency. It's funny that you think adversity, luck, the sperm lottery, and fate play a role with a person's financial life, but hard work and dedication are shrugged off as meaningless or ineffective. Nothing is guaranteed in life, yes sometimes you can pour everything you have into something and still fail. However, I am hesitant to believe in the internet and entertainment age we live in, that everyone is pouring everything they have into being successful and still just failing. Not seeking out opportunity to learn or apply yourself to do better in life is not the same as not being able to find such opportunities. My argument is that there are many more complacent people than one would like to think. You seem to think that these people are one opportunity away from being helped up because they can't help themselves, and that their lifestyle sucks so much that they would jump at the opportunity and pour everything they have into it. Rather I suggest that a good amount of those people would not jump at the opportunity if it meant a significant trade off from their current lifestyle (how ever much it sucks to you). Then, in addition a good portion of the people who do accept the opportunity would not invest the time necessary - I guess you could call that laziness, I still think it is more of a concerted decision because they don't understand the future reward for the lifestyle trade off. I've got a feeling this will be chalked up to poor people being not as good as the rest of us though. That isn't true. There are complacent people in all income ranges that could do better, but make a concerted decision not to because to them it isn't worth the tradeoff - regardless of whether that decision is right or wrong.
