  1. Gilly was super nonchalant with that!
  2. What happened to Woods? I'm late to the game.
  3. OK. So your priori is that all immigrants are equally valuable to the country they immigrate to. Explain your argument please?
  4. That's actually catchy on it's own merits once you get past the "funny".
  5. Of course you don't blame the immigrants. They are doing something admirable for their families. I would do it myself if I lived in a Third World country bordering America.
  6. Our Cuban immigration policy has much to geopolitics. edit: your position that all paths to citizenship are legitimate because "everyone breaks the law from time to time" is an absolute non-starter as it runs against the entire purpose of a nation-state.
  7. This statement demonstrates a good deal of ignorance. We don't have one single immigration policy because not all immigrants are equally beneficial to the country, and a nations laws in regards to borders and immigration should be designed for the sole purpose of benefiting that nation.
  8. Bobby, there is a prescribed legal system for immigration into the United States, and becoming a citizen thereof. Breaking the law, and living in the shadows while waiting for an amnesty decree circumvents that law. The distinction may not matter to those gaining citizenship that way; but it often does matter to the citizens of the United States whose laws are being circumvented, and to those who are legally going through the painstaking process of becoming a citizen.
  9. Last I checked, we don't live in the middle of the 15th Century anymore, and have been past the Colonial Era for hundreds of years. It's absurd to litigate the here and now through the lens of modern American morality.
  10. There is a way to circumvent the system. I don't think you'd deny that.
  11. It's also important to note that historical European immigration involved crossing the Atlantic Ocean in a wooden boat, as opposed to walking north.
  12. No one born outside of America has the right to American citizenship. It doesn't matter if immigrants think our process is hard, or not; unwieldy, or not; unjust, or not; overly bureaucratic, or not; unworkable, or not; too expensive, or not. They don't have any right to citizenship. It's America's process, not theirs.
  13. I'm pretty sure everyone in this thread is congratulating the guy.
  14. See my edited post above. My point wasn't that the system isn't unwieldy, or often unworkable (that's to be expected from government institutions in my opinion); my point was that the policy itself is clear.
  15. Incorrect. Don't get me wrong, there are portions of our system that need to be fixed, and there are some major issues, which I address here.
  16. We have an exceptionally clear immigration policy; the only objections to it are political.
  17. The reality is that the NFL needs to do this to perpetuate it's existence. The US player talent pool is going to dry up over time given the eventual CTE/concussion lawsuits at the amateur levels. While the NFL, and to a lesser extent NCAA, may have the ability to absorb the legal costs and eventual awards, high schools and Pop Warner teams do not; and as such, football programs will cease to be offered over time. The player pool will need to be stocked somewhere, and places like China and Mexico will be where their bread will be buttered. They need to build a fan base so that they can develop a player pool.
  18. Fantastic. Proud to count him amongst us, especially since he wasn't gifted this privilege by birth, but rather decided it was something he truly wanted, and worked to obtain it. Individuals who do this make us better as a nation.
  19. Trump did say that if was elected President he'd have to change his hair style.
  20. That is absolutely terrifying.
  21. Oooooh... that was good.
