DNC Chair...meeting? Hilarious.

No. Bob Dylan is still alive and kicking. -
This thread is absolutely fascinating. The very reason popcorn was invented. If this thread had existed 150 years ago, it would be our national pastime.

Having a guy like Reiff working to the right of him would only accelerate Miller's development, and solidify the right side in general. This signing would certainly have my endorsement.

Our Constitution defines who is eligible to vote, and explicitly states that only citizens enjoy the privilidge. This was done for very logical reasons, as the purpose of our government, when established, working within the concept of a nation state, was to protect the rights and interests of it's people. States do not enjoy the right to determine who is permitted to vote if their desires run counter to the Constitution. Your position is essentially that anyone and everyone in the world has the right to vote in American elections, assuming they can smuggle themselves in. It's an absurd position to take.

Trump's leadership team

There is a very important key difference between the two though: Reid, as despicable as he was, was a trusted negotiating partner with his colleagues across the isle. While Republicans despised what he stood for, they knew that Reid spoke for his Party in the Senate, and could be trusted to honor his word in deals he would make. He gladly lied to ordinary Americans, but was oak with his fellow Senators. Schumer either lied to Senate Republicans and broke a deal he had made with them, or he has no real influence over his rank and file in the Senate. Whichever the case is, it's a nightmare scenario for Democrats, and the beauty is that it's self inflicted. -

I think it's starting to happen organically. -

It's spectacular. I nixed him and a handful of other posters, and the experience has been drastically improved. -

This was a yuuuuge misstep by Schumer in his new role, in a single motion he managed to lose the trust of his Republican leadership partners and betray the fact that he does not have control over his members. This is going to be a long four years for Democrats. -

I no longer see gatorman's posts unless someone quotes him, and it's made my board experience so much nicer. I will say, however, that his above claims that Trump voters are to blame for a leftist man punching a female reporter in the face actually made me spit coffee out on my desk. -

The head of the Border Patrol was fired. -
The real problem for the Democratic Party is that they have embraced an extremely leftist social justice war, anchored in a victim hierarchy; and have abandoned the working class blue collar Americans that built their party who are now being demonized and talked down to by party elites. How do you expect the Democratic Party to attract the votes of middle Americans when the Party, in search of a new DNC chair, trots out candidates whose promises are to tell white people to shut up?

I don't claim to know "black people", as "black people" are not a monolith. What I do know is the climate, choices, and culture which shape the reality of the lives of most black Americans because I grew up in it. I take it a step further: I don't give a !@#$ about black people. Or white people. Or Asians. Or Hispanics. I only care about individuals. -
President Trump's "alternate facts"
TakeYouToTasker replied to Benjamin Franklin's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
There was a time when the civil right struggle, as well as the women's rights movement, were merited and necessary. During that time blacks were discriminated against, because of the color of their skin, by major institutions, most noteworthy the Federal government. The time is long since passed. Civil Rights activists have out lived their usefulness, as there is no more institutional racism. There are, of course, still individual racists, as there always will be. Poor outcomes for blacks and other minority groups is in no way related to racism at this point in our history. Poor outcomes are related to culture and choices, which lead to poverty. 75% of black children are born out of wedlock, and child birth out of wedlock is the single greatest predictor of poverty. The second greatest predictor of poverty is not graduating from high school. As of 2013 the dropout rate amongst black males was 41%. The third best predictor of poverty in unemployment. The rate of black unemployment is almost twice the national unemployment rate. Again, this is problem of culture and choices. Not racism. -

No, I read quite well, you dope. And that's exactly what you did. If this is going to be illustrative of what your future contributions would have been, then good riddance. -
President Trump's "alternate facts"

Your history here is more than a bit fuzzy. Republicans were told to get in the back of the bus, as President Obama used all of his political capital to push through a very bad bill which narrowly passed the Democratic majority House though a reconciliation process. The reason single payer wasn't on the table was because Democrats wouldn't support it, as there was bi-partisan opposition to the bill, while the support for the bill was 100% partisan. -
I'm nearly old enough that simply being married to me could be considered antiquing.

It's not an either/or proposition. There will still be thousands of Mexicans and others from further south who will seek to come here to work farm labor. The farms recruit them, and help them get work visas. What's more, this process generally ensures better working conditions and somewhat better wages.

How in the world would you know if my experiences are the same as what happens today? You weren't there. Also, I never claimed to have any authority, it's you who implied that you have it, and are now nearly directly stating that you in fact have the authority to see things through mine, searching to find "my perspective" in order that you could be dismissive of it. -

Interestingly, I'm sure spending my entire childhood growing up poor, living in minority communities, being in their homes, attending the same schools, playing on the same teams, many of these friendships I still retain, in no way informed me of what it is like to grow up in these circumstances. -
