It a) keeps them in power, and b) staves off wide scale government collapse during their tenure by kicking the can down the road. The child tax credit is social engineering designed to prop up the long term health of Social Security.

You’re not familiar with the history of the intersectional movement? It was started by communist activists, who came to realize that their class warfare dogma had failed, and set upon racial strife hoping to create divides. It was the same people. Biden and Warren need to drop out of the race, and Kobluchar and Mr. Mayor need to figure out which way they are going to stack their ticket, otherwise Sanders will win unless the DNC spikes him again. That said, I don’t think Sanders will get the support of traditional Democrats. His base is not a Democratic base, and I think that 25% may be very isolated.

This isn’t an improvement for Bernie, really. He performed within the same margin of error last cycle.

Cross reference what was going on in the streets of Hong Hong, and what the world was looking at in terms of a more open China, and the international pressures being placed on them prior to the introduction of coronavirus; and now. Now the world is backing away from China, the streets of Hong Kong are empty, videos are regularly emerging of people who do not appear sick being forced into custody, with what appear to be concentration camps rapidly being built. I believe it's real, but that it's a man-made biological weapon that the CPP released it on it's own population in order to quell the uprising, and to kill off the poorer population which it's economy cannot afford to provide for.

Tough to say. I think it really depends on where the most value is at our spot when it’s our turn to pick. This group has shown the willingness to move around to get the guy if they think the value is right, but I don’t see them drafting for need at a fixed spot.

What do you say to someone in their 40’s who grew up in domestic poverty, was the first person in their family to go to college, paid their own way through school, started multiple businesses employing dozens of people, risking their own capital and financial future, working a hundred or more hours a week well into their late 30’s, helped their child come out of school debt free both through educating them about debt and to a small degree subsidizing them, then later after selling their businesses (over a period of about 12 years) launched a new career which required constant travel and sacrificing time with family, all to build a legacy of prosperity for future generations of their family, all by themselves? One generation. Going from living, at one point, out of a van at the age of three with mom and dad, at a KOA campground; growing up in a large Irish Catholic family of 7 supported by dad’s 15k/yr salary; wearing clothes that were either homemade by mom or were donated; living through winters without heat; going to school hungry; to a legacy of financial success that will keep that person’s family out of risk of poverty for generations? What do you say to that individual? How do you convince him that he should now fork over that legacy to those who grew up with silver spoons in their mouths compared to his own upbringing, and sacrifice what he already sacrificed to build to those whom are not willing to walk a path a tenth as long and hard as he himself has?

What happened was that the Marxists of the late 60’s and early 70’s, Weather Underground types, stayed in academia as teachers. They took over university systems which are now entrenched in post-modernist neo-Marxism; and the unions monopolized K-12. They’ve been indoctrinating generations of kids, while at the same time soaking them in tens of thousands of dollars in debt to attend the indoctrination seminars, all the while casting the students as victims. Combine that with the remarkable sense of entitlement that has come with being coddled by helicopter parents in the age of hedonism and instant gratification... and, boom, here we are. Here’s the rub though: I don’t care. Taking from people who produce and plan in order to compensate other people for their bad decisions is unethical and immoral.

The President doesn’t represent the people. The Office represents the government. Also, your entire argument undoes the concept of federalism; and diminishes the purpose of states. Finally, the Electoral College is a compromise specifically intended to diminish the electoral power of the more populous states. Else, why should those smaller states agree to participate it a government which does nothing more than dictate to them from the coasts, and looks down at them? There is no reason. Do away with the EC and you would do away with the country. Finally, the notion the the Electoral College is a major cause of lack of participation in elections is absurd, and quite frankly assumes the the population is steeped in civics education. You really think that’s the problem? That our country is overly understanding of civics?

It’s an incredible phenomenon, and you’re not wrong. Anecdotally: two of the smartest and most capable people I know, and I mean brilliant, with IQ’s in the high 160s who have achieved things most people never dream of, get absolutely twisted in knots to the point of incoherence over the President. These are people who are *logical to a fault*. But when it comes to Trump their eyes roll back in their heads, and it’s a tidal wave of raw emotions, and as homs as soon as you calmly present them with logic. He breaks people.
