OK, so you think people should be put in jail for what they say and what they think. And, of course, those people happen to disagree with you politically. So you're advocating for political prisons. Got it. She fairly well summarized the genesis and rise of the alt-right as a consequence of identity politics. When one a group, any group, is stigmatized there is going to be a back lash. Years of racial injustice throughout US history should have taught us that. When groups are taught to weaponize their race to their own advantage against other racial or ethnic groups, it forces the group now being what they view as marginalized to form their own group identity, and to become political in it's advocacy. This is the inherent danger of race based politics. It always creates an "other". We cannot ever move forward if we insist on doing that. Further, making this observation is not inherently racist. It's nothing more than a clear understanding of cause and effect. ------------------------------------------- And now I'm going to take a moment to examine the two ideas I addressed separately as a comingled issue: You are critical of what Laura Southern is doing in the Alps (for the purpose of discussion, I'll accept that offering on it's face) working to prevent Muslim immigration into Europe. At the same time, you are claiming that the current state of Europe makes true freedom of speech impossible without inciting religious violence. These combined notions are what is problematic, and what is driving the expansion of the European right. National culture is of central importance. That culture is one which birthed the Enlightenment, and the concepts of free speech itself and they are losing it. This isn't a trivial matter. This is what they are fighting for.

Yes, saying "they deserve it more" directly implies that all parties deserve to be jailed, to varying gradients. You're also conflating justice with legality. I assume you'd take great issue (correctly, might I add) if someone were to make the argument that more blacks deserve to be in prison because more blacks are in prison. Only you're doing the exact same thing here. So, again, why do Laura Southern and Faith Goldy deserve to be in prison? To the rest, I'm not at all interested in your opinions about "crusading for whiteness" when you haven't provided a single example, and have demonstrated a penchant for making baseless claims of racism as a substitute for intellectual rigor. Yes, England has fallen into despotism. Those living there don't have any rights. They have a list of privileges and duties which have been assigned to them by their government. There is a fundamental difference between rights and privileges, as they transform the relationship between government and citizen. Governments are at the mercy of citizens with rights, while citizens with privileges are at the mercy of their government.

It's much easier, however, to simply label people who disagree with you as racist; as it saves the trouble of having to actually understand their position, and argue against it's merits. I mean, look at the examples given: Laura Southern and Faith Goldy. They have been charged not only with racism, bit with Nazism. Someone responded to these charges by asking for evidence of these claims and was met with something along the lines of "I'm not going to debate this with you. Nazis. End of story." The problem is, though, that I'm not familiar enough with either one of them to know if they're racists or not. I don't have an opinion on the matter. What I do know, however, is that I'm not going to be shamed into adopting the opinion of someone tossing around baseless charges without presenting evidence. I'm also not going to take the intellectually backwards approach of assuming the claims to be true, and setting out to make the internet prove me wrong. Further, if evidence is ever presented it needs to be vetted in order to make sure it's evidence of what the claim maker says it's evidence of. I also find it to be exceedingly problematic when the concept of culture, and the purpose of the nation state, is conflated with racial animus. When this happens we can't have important discussions, and I'm growing increasingly concerned with my observation that it seems to be by design.

Huckabee is, quite frankly, the best Press Secretary I can remember. She handles an openly hostile room deftly.

I lament the apparent new reality in which we're no longer going to be allowed to have difficult conversations about race, as if they weren't hard enough to have already. Now this as the new impediment. Tragedy writes itself.

I'm not sure I understand the thread. People in England don't enjoy the protection of rights by their government. They ceeded them long ago. As such they have no expectation of not being molested by the state. England has fallen into despotism. So why should Tommy Robinson be freed?

I don't believe the commingling of races to be a good thing, and I don't believe it to be a bad thing. I find it to be neutral. What is, I believe objectively, a good thing is the empowering of individuals to make more choices about who they want to take as their partner by removing oppressive laws and social sigmas which prior restricted human freedoms. But that's not what the thread is about. The thread is about the over representation of mixed race couples in advertising, and why it's happening.

It should be easier to fire people under federal employment, and labor unions should be illegal within the government (a point FDR agreed with). It's funny you'd try to argue President Trump isn't doing a good job, while listing excellent achievments as examples.

Ben Shapiro did a remarkable piece of investigative journalism about this phenomenon a few years back. before he was a household name. Media executives told him directly that they intentionally over-represented homosexuality in programming in order to drive an agenda.

As Tom stated, most of us here have him blocked, and only even see what he has to say when someone quotes him, which is why often times you'll see those who do not have him blocked reply to him without quoting him as a courtesy. He's a troll whose only objective is to bring down the quality of the board experience, and to try to elicit a reaction from other posters regardless of how stupid it makes him look in the process.

Save your breath. The people involved in the argument aren't interested in understanding energy markets, or being correct in their assumptions. They're interested marketing their politics to the ignorant. Full stop.

I think it speaks to several things: First of all, black Americans have developed more economic power over time. As they have begun to join the working and middle class, they are now being marketed to. Secondly, marketing firms aren't going to stop marketing to their largest demographics, and in America that's white people. Third, and socially more important, on a personal level, between the economic groups being targeted, the comingling of races is no longer frowned upon, and people are free to love who they want, as they should be. A combination of these three factors would lead to a situation where advertisers can market to multiple demographics using the same add dollars, hence mixed race couples in commercials. With all of that said, I haven't studied the trend, and this is a very raw and off the cuff analysis, so take it for what it is.

FIFA is the best sports game on the planet. Playing it for a few years has brought me a deeper understanding of the game, and has turned me into a true fan of the sport. Other titles I'd suggest are Fallout 4, Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, and Grand Theft Auto V.
