  1. No, she does not. Senators do not represent the electorate. They represent the interests of the several states, and are supposed to be the advocate for state's rights within the federal government. That they have abrogated this duty, and that the 17th prescribes direct election, does not change what the Senate represents within our bicameral legislature. In fact, it's the whole purpose of it's bicameral nature. Yours is an argument for the abolition of the Senate, even though you don't realize it.
  2. You raise a good point. Republicans have control of enough of the State governments that they could call a Constitutional Convention for the purpose of amending the Constitution. Assuming victory in the mid-terms it just may be time to consider doing exactly that. That, and evicting California from the Union. And if Democrats continue to insist on scorched Earth, zero-sum politics which include the wholesale destruction of our form of government, and thus the underlying fabric of our prosperity, it might be time to consider that piles of dead Marxists are a far less dangerous proposition than rooms full of live ones.
  3. It's always been about advancing a globalist single state, operating under the guise of socialism, but rather designed to create a permanent elite over-overclass (read: monarchy) siphoning off the rest of us. Always.
  4. I'll say it again: It's time to eject California from the Union.
  5. Need is not currency, and mere existence does not confer merit. No one but the individual themselves, through the choices they make, prevents them from making a living.
  6. ... No. No she does not represent the people of Alaska. That's not how our government works.
  7. I'm sorry, but I'm not going to allow the description of what happened to Justice Kavanaugh, and the implications of a new standard of justice under which the accuser, rather than the accused deserve to be believed, to be described simply as "dirty pool". That minimizes the reality of what happened, and what continues to happen. What happened is a gross perversion of justice, and our entire system of government. It is absolutely !@#$ing disgusting, as is anyone who supports it. Precedent defines process in politics. Why do you think I constantly argue that process is more important than individual outcome? It's not the Republicans fault that Senate Democrats forged political weapons for their own use, only to have them stolen away in the middle of the fight. That the Democrats are now tasting their own bitter medicine because they honestly believed Republicans would never hold power again is their own damn fault.
  8. By left I mean the intelligencia, the educated left, and the political left.
  9. I'd argue that it's not a completely separate issue. The left is demonstrating that they believe in a fundamentally different form of government than the one Constitutionally prescribed. Their biggest fear in regards to President Trump was his appointment of Origionalist Justices to the Supreme Court, which would serve to undo how they want government to function. IE Congress (both houses) serve as celebrity activists and party fundraiser firebrands elevating the will of the Executive, the Executive rules by fiat writing "law" by executive regulatory decree, and the Supreme Court rubber stamps the actions of the Executive circumventing the need to create actual law via the "living document" standard. President Trump's appointees strip away that standard.
  10. McConnell met the Constitutional requirement of "advise and consent", and his actions were consistent with the Biden Rule (process and precedent). Further, the Obama era Court's vacancy wasn't anywhere near the longest in the history of the Court. John Tyler had a nomination held up for over two and a half years under somewhat similar circumstances. What he did not do was advocate for political violence, or engage in scorched Earth tactics like accusing Merrick Garland of being a gang rapist in an attempt to force President Obama to withdraw his nomination. The right did not call the Supreme Court illegitimate. The right did not for the abolition of the Senate as a democratic republican body. The right did not call for the abolition of the Electoral College. The right did not assault Congressmen or Senators. The right did not attempt to assassinate members of the government.
  11. I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of how those (most, certainly not all) on the political right (conservatives and libertarians) view government. While the left cares about individual outcomes, the political right cares about process. The right is currently angry because the left are attempting to burn down the entire process by which free and peaceful elections are successful using scorched Earth tactics, and they are doing so to the detriment of the entire future of this country. We are rapidly approaching a place where political violence is the norm, and once we're there, there is no turning back. I also am beginning to question whether or not there is any point in trying to have a peaceful co-existence with those who clearly don't want one. At this point it's probably in everyone's best interests to force California out of the country and to remove all military bases and technology, and personnel, and allow California to purchase all Federal land within the state from the government.
  12. What about the Democrats would make any sane person think they're the party of emotional intelligence?
  13. I'm getting to the point that I no longer believe it's possible to live peacefully with these people, largely because they won't allow it. It's time to be rid of California.
  14. I remember coining the phrase, but I've largely worked to block that era out of my head, and actively avoid this part of the board since the hordes of refugees flooded the place. If it was unreadable before, now it's a strong argument in favor of illiteracy. I'll say this before I depart: Tyrod was every bit as spectacular as an incredibly raw rookie, from a small school, in his 4th professional start.

  17. Blown chip shot FG attempt coming back to haunt us.

  19. I'd be interested in knowing his ratio of punts inside the 20.
