  1. Just another opposing politician trying to take down the other side. Both sides do it.
  2. Now hopefully we get back to making us the best O Line in the NFL. Everything else will look great if that happens.
  3. Formerly - I did the math from SPOTRAC, and we actually only need to spend about $35-40 mil. Still more than enough for two interior lineman and a WR or TE.
  4. Right, but we can get two stud interior linemen, and a WR, and still have $ for next year. Don’t forget we need draft $ 9.34 mil. Per SPOTRAC, and every team that is wise keeps an insurance f7n for either UDFA, or injuries for replacements, $7-8 mil. We also need probably $20-25 mil. For e tensions next year and stay cap friendly.
  5. LT- Juwain Taylor #9 LG- Zeitler or Saffold C- Paradis RG- Spencer Long RT- Take you’re pick, probably Dawkins. Back ups, Bodine, maybe Teller.
  6. Now that’s funny. It doesn’t surprise me though. So many QB’s gone in trades, you wonder will Miami trade for Rosen, or take one with their first pick.
  7. Id rather take Juwain Taylor at 9, and bundleour 2nd with one other pick to move up to 1st even two picks to get either TE from Iowa. We have 2 fours, fives and sevens. Somebody would be willing to make that trade, but it will be at the last minute. I can’t imagine the stress on that day for Beane and McD.
  8. FWIW, Jordan Jones, the Sam LB for Kentucky was asked in the SEC, which is the toughest Tackle he opposed, and he said Juwain Taylor, not Jonah Williams. Either one is a big upgrade.
  9. I thought this was just internet crap, but just heard while walking the dog on NFR, they are even reporting it. I’m not saying I believe the rumor, but never McD would even consider it. So much for getting some stud OL in free agency. AB if true will eat up too much cap. I don’t want him, but Beane doesn’t have me on speed dial. There’s no denying he is one of the top 3 WR’s in the league, but I just don’t see McD being able to reign AB in and shut up to the media.
  10. The Olympics have been using dna with hair for years since the 80’s with dna testing. I don’t really care if someone is not driving if people use weed, but private companies have a zero tolerance policy until the Feds change. It won’t change my behavior, but as long as you’re safe and others are safe, I don’t care unless it is my children who are growing up. That is not a legal issue as much as a moral one so I am resolute on that issue as a parent.
  11. Barley- You’re closer to this than me, but apppreciate the insight.
  12. Milton, I feel the same way. I am not a fan, but feel for those in Cleveland. I know though they haven’t won a championship since 1964, and three more time in the 50’s. They were making headway under Belicheck, until they fired him and moved to Baltimore. I’ve been to Cleveland a few times, and never heard any fans hate anyone more than Modell. They forget he was begging the city and the state to help him with a new stadium, so Baltimore ponied up. I just feel they have been in hell even longer than us. It’s nice to see different teams who have been bad for a long time turn themselves around. If this trade is true, Mayfield will have a heck of a Target with OBJ. I still want us to beat the pants off them every three years or more.
  13. Thanks 3/12. I am excited for this off season, not that we will win the SB, but we won’t be 31st in offense. I keep hearing about getting more defensive players, and in a perfect world I understand, but we have to heavily invest in the obvious areas on offense, We can be competitive this year as we had the second best defense and best pass defense. I know losing Kyle will, hurt, but if they are not in the field because we’re running great again, that will chew up clock. Thanks Purple. I stand corrected, and heard on the radio 26, but should have checked myself. I apologize.
  14. I’ve been saying this for a month to the point where I considered I was being annoying to the crew. Paradis played for three seasons, and 9 games. Since he is healed up from his injury per reports and clears the medical, he would be an excellent addition. Steve Tasker and I were talking on air, and I mentioned, but one of you mentioned Zeitler which is an even better option he is 26 vs. 31. i know a lot of guys want Montcreif and is a sexy pick, but I’ll take the boring Juwain Tayler (meaning a lineman). And yes, we have transformed our line from a weakness to a strength. Allen gets at least another second to throw, holes will be opened to improve our running game and so on. Tasker mentioned these two interior lineman probably would cost us approximately 20-21 mil for both each year, and there are always to be creative to work with the cap. We’ll have to keep at least one of the existing lineman for RT and a couple of more durable lineman for back ups like Bodine. You guys probably have a better take on Teller as he had some flashes, but open to everyone’s opinions.
  15. The #1 pass defense, #2 overall defense vs. the 31st offense makes choices obvious. Everything gets better with a stud O Line and they have the pics and $ to do it. As someone stated pic you’re offensive toys after LT with #9. Lots of excellent TE’s. Depending on the analyst, there are 3-4 TE’s who have first round grades. The two Iowa kids, the AL guy, and the BC kid.
  16. As much as I wanted Saffold, he is 31 and Zeitler is 28. It would be a shrewd move, and I know I’m a broken record but Paradis at 26 would round us out with Juwain Taylor at LT. We would go from a weakness to significant strength. Running game gets better, passing gets better, more holes for Allen, Shady, and so on. Bring it baby. Investing real $ for excellent O Lineman who have time to be here for awhile is a great investment. Get one of those stud TE’s in the draft, and we’re back in the game.
  17. Formerly - I’m hoping as Gil Brandt states it’s liars season, and they are targeting two of the better interior linemen out there if not extended or tagged, and a solid WR. I seriously doubt we would ever go after Antonio Brown. He’s a game changer, but has openly a pain in the ars.
  18. I see this of true as a good thing as we could have have at least 3 of the 8 slots above going to QB, and many of the others going after pass rushers and DT’s. So if not the best OT, we could get the 2nd, so possibly Juwan from FL, or Jonah Williams. I just hope one of these four TE’s who have a top grade we can get in the 2nd. I’d lay $ we bundle on or two of those extra 4’s, 5’s, or 7’s to move up to get a couple of more talented players. Should be fun.
  19. Thurmon - it’s funny you did this at the same time I was using SPOTRAC, vs. Over The Cap. I came to almost the same conclusion. They are not as pressured as I thought to spend a ton this off season. I still believe not including free agency and emergency fund, as well as hold over for next year’s extensions, will probably probably spend in FA, and UDFA, approximately $39-40,000,000. We’ll see what they do. Should be fun so maybe they find a bunch of Spencer Long type players, who are solid, but only cost us $3.9 mil. This year, vs. the Saffold. High ticket price players. The good news to me is this admin. I don’t believe will get us in cap hell again, now will they spend properly to keep building a perennial playoff team. I know about all the other factors in coaching, etc., for this thread, I’m speaking simply to who we buy, and does it give the right ingredients for the coaching staff to win. This was an interesting exercise.
  20. It’s nothing negative on you, it’s just that we’re other coaches beyond the ones you chose that you could vote for as they may actually had more time and we’re better coaches. You’re list is filled with no one probably wants any of them, but I could be wrong. I think it’s a good poll, but several just want a more complete list, but then again, you can’t include every coach so I understand, “where does it stop”. To youre point, why didn’t we include Kay Stephenson. That’s a joke as he was an abomination.
  21. Shady, respectfully I disagree as they need about 9.3 mil again for the draft, but if you’re including that portion, I understood. Second almost every team wants to hold back after the draft of a minimum of $7 mil, but often more so they can sign cheap undrafted free agents, and have their insurance policy. They are are going to want to hold back probably $20 mil so the can extend some people next year. That leaves around $50 mil for FA. That’s my only point. It’s still a lot of money to get some marquee players.
  22. Crown- agreed and I have heard you post this point. Beane can do the whole GM talk he wants and is shrewd to keep an insurance fund, have what we need for the draft and by SPOTRAC is ,9.3 mil b/c of 10 vs. 7 picks, but is only a guesstimate as they could always bundle picks to move up or down, and hold some money to extend people next year, and keep doing that b/c eventually we’ll have to pay Allen QB $ if he becomes our franchise guy. That still leaves at least $45-50 mil to spend and can get reinforcements where need it on the line and WR Corp. I just don’t believe it we won’t go after any of the top URFA interior lineman. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong, but as much as the Pegulas were patient this past year, they are going to want to see progress, so we have to invest in some offensive talent and each of us our favorite we hope for and that’s ok. We all want the same thing, the start of consistent double digit winning seasons and balance on offense and defense, and balance in the run vs the pass.
