  1. Well, the article came out this morning and made the case to trade for him, but the author was flawed in his rationale. Many people have speculated on different people to use in free agency, and all were interesting, except this one. I stand behind my previous comments. Why would anyone want to spend an exorbitant amt. of $ on a 31 yr. old, often injured RB, past his prime, and very expensive. Too bad as he was a very dynamic RB a few years ago.
  2. So much is unknown at this point. If Brady doesn’t come back to the Pats, our chances of winning the division increases and a lot of “what if’s”, but if McBeane makes all the right choices in free agency and the draft primarily on offense and some defense, we could still win 10 games. The nice part is if we actually win 10 games, we will be battle hardened playing against the best in the AFC and NFC. We would be much better prepared for a deep run in the playoffs as we would have been there. The SOS is a factor, but as stated above look how many teams go up and down each year. There really isn’t anything any of us can do anything about it, so just roll with it.
  3. Well, the speculation is Rivers is most likely going to Indy based on the teams needs and his comfort zone with Reich, although I think there is still a real chance he ends up in Tampa. If he does go to Indy, the WR pick for the Colts makes sense. I don’t know enough on the WR pick for us.
  4. I seriously doubt Arians is letting Howard go as he is one a few weapons that makes Tampa’s offense dangerous if they had a QB who didn’t throw 30 picks in one year. That is why Tampa is looking at Rivers, Dalton, etc. Hooper to me is the best pick and that article yeasterday was interesting on 6 possible cuts, where if they cut Kroft, Murphy, and Smith, they save this years a little over $15 mil. That is easily more than enough for Hooper and another player.
  5. Whoops. Great take and exactly what I want. Keeping Sweeney makes sense and Hooper is a huge upgrade from the other two. Especially when you framed it that only a $3 mil upgrade.
  6. I loved Johnson a few years ago. A long story, but my middle son loves the Bills and Bucs, but he fell in love with the Cardinals when he was 7 when they went to the SB here in Tampa. My point is I’ve seen so many of his games and he was great, but not anymore. He’s hurt too often, getting older, does not have the explosion he once had is a bad mistake. If they was five years ago then yes, but not now. Im still on the AJ Dillon kick from BC. He will be perfect for us at the right pick. Motor stays healthy, Dillon pounds the tough yards, and someone on that thread mentioned we could probably drop DiMarco, as he could serve as a FB in some packages and RB in others.
  7. Don’t stop believing, this is exactly the guy I want. Anything beyond the 3rd is fine with me. I’m hopeful our first three picks go to a WR in the 1st, Edge Rusher in the 2nd, and another WR in the 3rd. I know we other interests, but something like this with a battering ram like him is a huge improvement we should see on the field next year. I’ve beaten the drum probably too often but at least one TE, not Olsen in FA. I don’t if everyone read the article this morning on the argument to tag J. Phillips. It made me think about it.
  8. klos, you hit it right on the nail. Too old, too boisterous, and not productive in years. Pass.
  9. Thanks Gambit , first for correcting, and second for remarks. I’m fine now and know she’s in heaven. I appreciate it.
  10. This is tough as the two winners had fantastic careers, but hard to pass over a coach who won as a player for KC, then as an Assistant to Madden, and then won two in 80 and 83. Those games weren’t even close. I hope he gets in before he passes as he is 83, and at that age you just hope he can make it.
  11. SlimShady, thanks. So sad Hunter had to pass on both of their birthdays. Not the same as a parent should never have to bury a child, but my mom died on my 40th, who outside of my wife and kids was the closest person in the world to me. I wouldn’t open birthday cards for the next three years, and told my wife no cake, presents or anything. She agreed, but told me not fair to the kids to not give me something. I told her to have the kids draw me a birthday card on construction paper and they still do it today. Im so sorry for Jimbo, his wife and daughters as I’m sure all of these years later, it probably still is in their minds. Have a blessed days To the Kellys.
  12. Frez, I apologize for being ignorent, but why is today significant? Was it the day Hunter passed, or his birthday or something?
  13. Gordio, I didn’t say do it. I said if you weren’t listening, hear are some points to consider, and I like Josh, but playing an Aaron Rodgers role isn’t the worst thing for him. I think Josh should develop, but Stafford would be an immediate upgrade in this now league. I don’t care either way, and to ask me to leave Buffalo is silly. I guess you’re not tolerant of even the softest opposing position. Don’t worry, no matter what you say, I will not respond to you as it is childish. Most posters don’t make things personal. So enjoy you’re week and have a Happy Valentine’s Day with you’re significant other.
  14. Well he’s had a 60% or better completion % for 6/10 years, and close 2 other years. He has basically a 2/1 TD/INT ratio, and had a horrendous defense and really no running game. I would consider a trade for the right price and if McBeane are unsure of Allen as they can place him 2nd string for the remainder of his rookie contract, and even tag him a 3rd year. This means we get a tried and true QB, playing behind a better running game, one of the best defenses in the NFL, and will improve if we draft that battering ram from Boston College, AJ Dillon (6’ / 250 lbs.). Since Stanford is only 32, he won’t have as much value at 35 if he doesn’t work out, and then go back to Allen. Hell, not the same, but Rodgers sat for a few years. I’m not saying do it, but this could get us much deeper in the playoffs as well as a good draft. Food for thought.
  15. I can go either way, but there is an implication of Allen’s deal. Now you can kick the can for one year with the tag for him so three more years, but that 30+ mil contract is coming. If we can sweeten by a higher than normal guarantee, but now you’ve space out the two big contracts coming and some mid level one like Milano. We also if not wrong have Poyer and Hyde in two years, so another to consider to keep the best of this band together. I think it’s a smart move if it can be agreeable to his camp. Guaranteed $ as you know is so important they know for sure they’ve taken care of their families no matter what. Because he’s so young, a five year deal would be optimal. Just stuff to kick around in the drought period of NFL season.
  16. And a younger stud like Hooper out of Atlanta. I can acquiesce which is why I wanted to prompt the discussion. Yeldon is extendible if we still want DiMarco for FB packages, and better TE in that scenario to pound it in the tough yard situations it with drafting a Carson like from Seattle. I never mentioned with this incredibly deep WR and a solid edge rusher class, to pick up one to two guys depending if we want Lawson back. So to Mango’s point, these are upgrades with the exception of Olsen, better than the injury prone Kroft. If you had to let an edge rusher go thinking you can only get one in the draft, then we still have Hughes and Lawson is in a rotation with a new young stud. I never brought up as they are officially on the team, but not on Spotrac for some reason with McKenzie and Foster. Foster is a given to be cut, and McKenzie is great with those end around, etc, but rather a take it off the top Wr as well as a possession guy. We of course keep Brown and Beasley, two new guys with real talent and Williams. Roberts is too important in the return game. I started is to get the dissent and new ideas, and the $ frees up to maybe keep Lawson and J. Phillips. So have at it as you have my thoughts.
  17. Good Morning Gentleman and ladies. So like others I love Spotrac, especially that tool that takes everything into account and changes cap totals and impact on available $. So this one option, but feel free to do you’re own as I value you’re opinions. Current cap availability, $82,824,551. Potentially Released: 1. Trent Murphy - LB 2. Tyler Kroft - TE 3. Lee Smith - TE 4. TJ Yeldon - RB 5. Tommy Sweeney - TE Results would be an additional $9,249,408, resulting in cap space of $91,053,959. Possible solutions are to add two TE’s in FA, reasoning Edge Rushers and WR will eat up too much cap in FA. In addition, we can easily replace a RB in the draft. It’s obvious on the rest as far as the draft with WR’s and Edge Rushers. Lastly, if J. Phillips is willing to get closer to his Spotrac value of just over $6 mil even if we went to $7 mil, with H Phillips coming back our interior is set. Thoughts or other releases and solutions if you were Beane? Mods, I checked the search tool and didn’t see anything similar.
  18. Or b/c they were just in the SB, but I know what you and others are saying. I’m happy for Stevie. He was fun to watch ona bad Buffalo Bills team.
  19. well, consider he had 18 yards a catch last year, and consider who was throwing to him with Winston. I’ve watched him since UCF as they are on all the time down here. I would take a chance him for the right price. So many people bring up we need a relatively fast tall WR who can jump up and catch the contested ball. Well he can do that, and Allen would love throwing to him. If they take him you might as well say goodbye to McKenzie and Foster, because there is no way we also don’t take one in the draft.
  20. Slim, the only one I can remember was Ritchie. He gave us three solid years.
  21. Sounds like a fair deal for both sides, and I’m not saying he’s Aaron Donald, but he plays a role in this defense. Him clogging up middle is his job. That is why I never understood the vitriol by a minority of posters. Not calling anyone out, to me his role is also meant to Oliver, maybe J Phillips if we can figure out something to penetrate.
  22. “Danger Will Robinson, Danger”! Only middle aged guys up even know what I’m talking about which is not being hard on the younger guys. Seriously though, I could see for the right contract, maybe AJ Green, but doubt this would happen. If anyone wanted to take a chance on a guy with a weed issue, I wouldn’t do it until the new CBA as they are either taking that away, or raise positive threshold so high players would never get for it. Now is too risky. Stampede, you crack me up at times. Good post.
  23. Corta and Ethan, I couldn’t agree more. It is somewhat myopic, if we had a great game coming up, and I fly all three kids, request vacation time for Friday and Monday morning. I’m giving an example, but I’m sure there a ton more where it is significantly unfair for out of Towners, or even Buffalonians who may have to get up at 5 am for their jobs. That would stink. Owners, players and the NFL are going to make more than enough $ with an expanded schedule, which seems more and more like it might happen, and Direct TV loses exclusivity for streaming. I can’t remember how many fans started a short thread of “Do any of you guys will show the Bills game in what European city, or just OUS.
