  1. If you read the article and not sure if any other outlet reported it, but it was not disclosed on the link. As far as him in Buffalo, that makes no sense. He’s 32 this month, although relatively durable the last 10 years, he’s not played since 2019 due to Covid and the injury. He’s a 3-4 OLB, so he doesn’t make any sense in our scheme. He’s been a great player, maybe HOFer especially if he comes back strong, but he’s way out of our price point even if we played a 3-4.
  2. You beat me to it. There has been such an overreaction to one game, and that game was only you know the Championship game against a team that won the SB last year. Now the other night I was nodding off to late hits on NFLR with Mr. Polian. That’s the only night of the week I’ll put it on for a few as he makes very interesting points. He stated what a lot of people think. The one directive with this odd season was to hold back on holding calls to escalate scoring and more interesting offensive play. That is except the SB. As a result, I don’t know if our pass pro was that excellent, or we benefited from refs friendly offensive line play. Probably some of both. Then a Bills fan called in and asked Polian about Feliciano. His response summarized is the ability to play efficiently play both Center and Guard means Mongo is incredibly smart. He also said he saw improvement in our line play when Feliciano came back from injury. He wasn’t necessarily inferring to extend him at top pay, but he did say it would be a loss to our team by not working with his agent for a reasonable contract. That’s just one person, but he is in the HOF. He did say if he tries to outprice himself this year with the issues in the cap, he’s going to make even less $ potentially from another team. Bottom line is Feliciano is taking a big risk if he pushes too hard on top $ in 2021. He’d help himself more if he took a 1 yr. extension with us, play well, and try again next year on a longer deal. Morse restructuring is smart and can partially be used on either Feliciano or Williams. If they really want to try and upgrade, they would be smart to do so in the draft in a mid round pick. Cheap labor, but a gamble he’s an upgrade from our current talent.
  3. I wasn’t surprised on these teams. The Packs have been flawed on their defensive picks during this four year period. The Pats have been a bad drafting team as well, and Wilson has commented how he is not surrounded with solid o line talent. Its true, Rodgers, Brady and Wilson have covered up a lot of flaws, and as much as so many Bills fans hate Brady, he had grown weary of BB not hitting on weapons. So as usual, we’ll articulated GB. PT101, thank you for the kind words and you couldn’t be more accurate that all drafts are still a game of chance, and there are no sure things. Lastly, the draft is only part of any story. To evaluate a team, the hardest part is sizing up drafting, choosing when to trade away draft picks for solid veterans, ie. Diggs, UDFA hits, and quality FA pick ups at the right price. Per his peers, the NFL seems to think Beane was the best overall GM for 2020. The sin as was stated by others a month ago is giving Coach of the Year to Stefanski over McD. That was a real sin.
  4. I wrote in another thread, Pat Kirwan on MTC Thursday tabulated 615 and growing Players are set to be released. He also had a bad year, and there is always a possibility with creative negotiations with Feliciano and D. Williams. You would have to be convinced he is far superior to Feliciano or Ford, or Boettger to sign him. Ford may only be able to play Guard, but Feliciano is serviceable at Guard and Center. I’m not saying to replace Morse, but he is the sure fire backup at Center to a guy who’s had five concussions. This is a big risk last year’s performance is a fluke vs. his play at this point. Beane would have to be convinced of his skills. If he and McD have reviewed all of his tape, and truly believe he is an upgrade to our line, then fine.
  5. To the OP, thank you finding a creating some data to support what the eyeballs see in Beane does a nice job in the draft, as well as McD if you include 2017. It’s one of the main reasons I’m confident he’ll find some gems this year although even more challenging as we are picking at the bottom of the draft order for most rounds. One thing I found interesting in the table is a false assumption. You would think the teams that have perennially excellent records would be picking towards the bottom of the draft, so you would assume they were not as good in the draft. It’s really the opposite. Outside of the Packers, Pats and Hawks who ranked 21-23rd, most of the top teams are also very successful teams. Basically supporting these teams not only draft well, but really well as they pick later in the draft. So OP, the next time some knucklehead posts again how bad McBeane is in the draft, feel free to post this reply over and over gain. If you don’t, I will. Good job bud. The issue for me is not a critical eye on the flaws of the team as every team has flaws. The no duh is we didn’t run well, we are flawed at TE, we haven’t found a good rush with four. Those are well founded, but the remarks that just aren’t accurate in anyway is what I think annoys some.
  6. I’ve only read the first page so apologies if others have commented. Restructuring just means his current contract in part is converted from salary to bonus so spread out over the contract (there are other nuances, but basically not a pay cut just moving $). There is no reason for a player to not accept as they just get more $ up front. What I’m guessing whoever reported was not a restructure, but a reduction. For example, John Brown is $9.5 mil. against the cap and a cap reduction of let go of $8 mil. A reduction is he is willing to reduce his contract to $7 mil., from $9.5. That is the most logical situation. He’s 32, plays almost every game, has a dead cap hit of $2.1 mil., and a cap hit of $9.45 mil.. They are probably asking him given his age to shade off say $2 mil.. He knows this is a tough year so he doesn’t at 32 want to be on the street. I was listening to MTC yesterday on NFLR, and Kirwan mentioned they are up to 615 reported releases by FA time. He speculated there most likely would see an increase to 700 in the next week or so. What was interesting is that is approximately 35% of the 2020 league. It’s never happened in the NFL. Do you really think any player over 30 wants to be part of that crew. These guys and their agents aren’t dumb. They know of they hold the line, they’ll have to accept less than their reduction somewhere else. Beane is smart and that is why we didn’t get Watt. He was only willing to go so far for an over 30 guy, and AZ overpaid. That’s a Doug Whaley move.
  7. This was a good decision and doesn’t affect the 2021 cap. With these new contracts wherever they land the cap will certainly go up in 2022 and beyond. Having this tandem in the backfield and Tre’s extension before the ridiculous contracts for others like Ramsey was a smart move. Get er dun Beaner.
  8. You do know he was the #1 gross punting avg. in the league, and #5 net punting avg. So you upgrade from #1 on a guy who had a serious injury? I’m not trying to be snarky, but if you said they don’t want to pay Bojo, ok. More likely they want a bench for Bojo if he gets hurt, just like last year. An example of upgrading was drafting Bassomatic as House $ was starting to slip and not reliable over 50 yards. Almost every team brings in kickers and punters every year so they test out bench candidates if their guy(s) get hurt. They don’t have a lot of time to find a replacement in for example week 8 of the season, because Bojo or Bass gets hurt. They need to have a list of guys if available they can offer a tender. It’s done every year, and not just the Bills. Most teams do this with specialists. If a returner gets hurt, like Roberts, they can have McKenzie or Hyde help out in a pinch. They can’t do that with a kicker or punter. The only emergency for a kicker or punter which has rarely happened is the punter becomes the kicker for the remainder of a game or the opposite.
  9. Never gets old. Disturbing, but not old.
  10. I’m sure many of you know they bring in kickers and punters every year to create a bench if the contract doesn’t work out or if one of these guys go down so they have an option to go after him. They are just bench candidates.
  11. True, but it also means those top 7-8 teams that have a ton of $ will extend those that are up, and add several very good free agents. It’s not like we are just one player away. There several needs, but that is almost the entire league.
  12. I didn’t know McKenzie was injured in the Fins game. I was wondering why they didn’t use him more as well, or Stills. It’s over. We lost. Moving on.
  13. RTG, I’m so sorry for you’re loss. I know when I lost my mom it was tough. You’re post reminded me of my dad when I first moved to FL. It was pre-internet and he worked for the Buff. News for 44 years. Every Monday, he used to take the Monday extra on the Bills and put it in one of those tubes and would overnight it to me for Tuesday delivery. We’re Irish, so not big on feelings, but I always knew he loved his son through those little actions. Tou get to carry her on with those memories and sharing those with you’re kids.
  14. He’s been declining for a few years. He made a smart decision taking less to hold on, and the Steelers know they don’t have another option. The team is going down. I have nothing against the Steelers, even rooted for them against the Pats when we stunk, but they just have too many holes. Its taken long enough, but the Bills are on the rise, the Chiefs, the Colts, the Ravens, even the Chargers might be emerging in the coming years.
  15. Someone brought up earlier about retro grading teams drafts. I love that series on NFLR, as it’s usually a Blitz (the show) topic where they grade the draft from four years ago. They rate on an A,B,C,D etc. draft. It’s a very interesting series, and the primary guy was Mark Dominic, the old GM from Tampa. He’s a very interesting guy with Bruce, the main host. Needless to say our drafts prior to McBeane on a four years later have not been the best, but they were fair. They consider, who’s still on the NFL whether starting or a role player, regardless if they are still on the team that drafted the player. It’s part of their off season series each show does to basically fill down time. You may not always agree with the hosts, but they make several good points trying to quantify a draft. This year should be fun as it’s the 2017 draft, but I know I think it’s Late Hits does something like this, but would be the 2018 draft. Its interesting to see, because for example we don’t still have Wyatt Teller, but he starts for the Browns and was a 2018 draft guy. To me that’s fair given they are a national show, not biased by a local market like WGR. Anyway, you Sirius guys have a listen when they do it. If memory serves, it’s usually done after the draft. By then FA is over, the draft is over, coaching hires are over, and even the UDFA market is over. They can then focus on this kind of topic.
  16. Hey Sherlock, open the attachment or use this crazy thing called GOOGLE! I’m just kidding eman, I know you have a good sense of humor. The only way I see us taking a RT (assuming Dawkins is our guy) is we’ve passed on a D. Williams extension. To me, this is a mistake. I haven’t seen much on Ettiene, but if he is remotely like McCaffrey, I’d love it. That guy is so dynamic like another said Kamara. These guys have the ability to be a traditional RB, but also are a major receiving threat. Considering we may not upgrade our TE group, at least improve our short game. I don’t understand gambling on a draft prospect, when we have a proven RT already and still have some flexibility in reduce, restructure others. Williams had several very good years in his professional career, and one tough injury to get over, but he’s proven his worth. On the other hand Moss is kind of a one trick pony, and Im losing faith in Singletary. It’s not just his lack of ability to get through the hole, but his dropped passes this year drove me nuts. I know it wasn’t a lot, but c’mon, how hard is to catch a pass maybe a couple of yards over the LOS. One side note that is promising is NFL reporting by women has evolved from not just some eye candy as a sideline reporting, but some very good analysts and informative. If any of you have listened to NFLR, one regular that is interviewed about things from the Browns is Mary Kay Cabbott. She’s great and I see that as progress in 2021. I know women have been reporting in the NFL for awhile, but it continues to progress and is great for gender politics.
  17. I watch some college ball, but not to the level of acting like a prognosticator of future success. I do agree with Simms to stop fantasizing about a chance to get Wilson or Watson. I’m at the point of being sick of hearing about these ideas. If it happens fine (although I still doubt it), but these franchises would be fools to let these generational QB’s go. I don’t think it’s crazy Simms likes one QB over another. I can see the Jets pulling the trigger on one of these QB’s and give up on Darnold. I don’t see many teams giving up much draft capital for him.
  18. As I was flipping through this thread, I thought the same thing. Owners are always in such a hurry to find their next guy, it seems like they would just find a coordinator or another coach, college coach, etc. to circumvent the proposed rule. The only way to exact real change is all head coaching hires from anywhere cannot start until Black Monday including the entire interviewing process. That levels the playing field for the avg. 7 new hires every year. It will never happen as the owners will never go along with that change. It’s too bad as that would be an excellent rule change. Regarding the coaching of Daboll, that to me is overblown. We held the Ravens to 3 pts., and you can say we were a little flat in the Colts game, but Allen like all good QB’s covered it up. The ugly truth is the Chiefs were the far better team that day. Besides, all four of our WR’s were injured. That’s what brought us to the AFCCG. Daboll can’t snap a finger and create a running game and excellent TE play. The Chiefs didn’t care about those two facets and exploited it.
  19. What the fweak is that? All Hail Sam Cass! Hail Sam Cass! Sorry Ridge, that is one of my funnier scenes from the Big Bang. Couldn’t help myself. As far as the idea, it’s stupid (IMO). Even if on sides mostly fail, it’s one of the fun things about the game. Talk about the brass Sean Payton had doing that in the SB against the Colts. How boring is 4th and 15? There are a bunch of dumb rules changes proposed every year and most are shot down. I seriously doubt this one makes it.
  20. Ed, I know that idea was floated on multiple outlets prior to the pandemic, so maybe that factored into the conversation. I honestly don’t know as it pertains to the site. WFT is an improving team, and they have lots of $ in the off season, so not a walk in the park. Having it in Buffalo is great. Thanks for sharing Shady. I would think the ratification of the 17th game is probably a formality. What’s interesting is how many if any pre-season games there will be. I’ve heard 3, but might just be a negotiating please to eventually get the 18th game and they go down to 1-2 pre-season, or maybe none. The league will get a lot more $ for regular season games so this should be interesting.
  21. Not sure GB. I was so impressed how Williams handled on his own with little help TJ Watt. If we can find a way to restructure, reduce, etc. I would want to extend him. I guess this is the new normal we discuss every release. Seems to be an excellent Guard. Not sure we could afford him. These releases continues to remind me how much teams like the Jags, Jets, Pats, Colts, Broncos, and WFT are going to be able to do a makeover like we haven’t seen pretty much ever. At least with several of these teams, they don’t have a quality QB. If somehow Reich can resurrect Wentz, that is a team to be concerned for 2021. They are a very complete team so it will depend on Wentz. They certainly have the cash to make a couple of targeted improvements on both sides of the ball.
  22. He is a despicable person and 14 years is light. I read the article and it seems that is the maximum for their plea deal. For those making jokes, you should be ashamed of yourselves. There is nothing funny about treating elderly and homeless women in such a predatory manner. I’ll say prayers for these women so hopefully they find some peace.
  23. I’m not really sure the Cardinals will be the best in the West as we don’t even know how much the Seahawks will spend in FA, and the draft. SF’s top talent is coming back from injuries to key players, so AZ may improve with another year for Murray, but it’s not a lock. I pay a little more attn. to AZ as my middle son fell in love with them when he was 7. Long story about the Cards being in the SB in Tampa that year.
  24. Well, it seems like he is projected to be a late third rounder from several mocks, so if you think he is worth it, then ok. We’re not going to plug every hole in the draft, and we don’t have hardly $ in the cap for FA. There’s only so much they can do in restructure, reduce, or remove.
